Stardust seeks to sack Sawajiri?

Management agency Stardust Promotion is reportedly considering the dismissal of actress Erika Sawajiri (23) for breach of contract. Sawajiri's conduct has long caused headaches for the company, and it seems that they have decided to finally put an end to it. Sources say that Stardust began talks of canceling Sawajiri's contract earlier this month. The actress still has some time remaining on her contract, and she is said to be cast in a major movie project. However, the agency has apparently determined that she is guilty of a serious breach of contract, and they do not plan to wait until the contract's expiration. When asked about the story, Stardust replied with "no comment."

Sawajiri has long had a reputation of a difficult personality, earning her the nickname of "Erika-sama." In 2007, she was heavily criticized by the media for her unprofessional attitude during a PR event for the movie "Closed Note." Around the same time, she was also discovered to be in a relationship with multimedia creator Tsuyoshi Takashiro (45), whom she married this past January. Despite her career being mostly quiet since the "Closed Note" incident, Sawajiri has been in the newspapers several times. One recent incident happened in July, when she visited Amami Oshima for the solar eclipse. While there, she was filmed operating a motorized bicycle, and it was later noticed that the bicycle was not properly registered, as it should have been.

Sawajiri also caused trouble for Stardust in February, when she visited New York and participated in the promotion of a popular fashion brand without going through her agency. In addition, rumors have surfaced that Sawajiri frequently used drugs while in Europe with Takashiro. In particular, they are said to have often attended drug parties in Ibiza. There are further reports that while they were at Amami Oshima, they went to an event that Noriko Sakai and Yuichi Takaso also attended. Although Sawajiri's dismissal is not official yet, it appears likely to happen. This would have a significant effect on her career, though she may be able to continue independently.

Sawajiri Erika back in business

Today it was announced that actress Sawajiri Erika finally resumed her work and her first new project will be a commercial for a beauty company.

Her agent in Japan made the announcement to the media a few hours ago. "She created her personal office in Spain and hired agents in several countries. Our goal is to increase her activities gradually." Her new official website is going to start at 5pm on March 16 as well.

This announcement confirms that Erika really was building up new connections when she and her husband returned to Japan at the end of last year. The result of her new connections will be a new commercial for a beauty company that will start airing later this month. It will be a commercial for "Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic" as mentioned in earlier rumors. With this she is going to follow the footsteps of fellow actress Yonekura Ryoko and singer Gackt who used to be two of their recent image characters.

Their commercials are known for showing a lot of skin in an aesthetic way and it won't be any different for Erika. It's said that they used some interesting CG to create a new and original commercial.

A new photo book is planned for a release in April as well. It was shot by a British cameraman and close friend of Takashiro, but it will not contain any kind of nude photographs unlike claimed in other rumors. It will be a purely artistic collection of photographs and a must-have for all fans left.

Her future as an actress isn't looking that bad either. She received a lot of offers in and outside of Japan and currently has 4-5 scripts that she might be interested in. Erika now also has an agent in Los Angeles who is going to select some promising roles for her in the American market. The most interesting fact still is that she's doing all that on her own. With her own office in Spain, she is going to completely produce her herself from now on.

However, fans in Japan might be a bit sad, since she will stay in Madrid most of the time now. Agents in several countries will collect all offers for her and she will only have to chose her personal favorite at her office without having to travel the world to get her the roles.

It's a fresh and fascinating new beginning for Erika. Time will tell whether she learned from her past mistakes and how successful she is really going to be with her own office, but we will definitely hear a lot more from her again.

Erika-sama Headed For Divorce?


Sawajiri Erika (24, photo left) is rumored to be on the verge of divorce, it was reported yesterday. Last night's edition of the Fuji TV show "Mr. Sunday" carried the story as its top news. A reporter confronted Sawajiri outside her Tokyo home yesterday evening and asked about the rumor, to which she replied only, "Sorry, I can't say anything now. Try again in a few days."

The actress has been married to hypermedia creator Takashiro Tsuyoshi (45, photo right) for only a year and three months, and she has barely worked in showbiz since the infamous "Betsuni" incident in September 2007. She was formally dumped by her management agency last September, but in March she announced that she had opened a management office in Spain and signed a commercial contract with the Takano Yuri beauty clinic chain. She appeared with Takano at a PR event on March 16, and set media tongues wagging yet again with a 6-point privacy agreement that any reporter had to sign before she would speak with them.

Sawajiri and Takashiro are said to be separated and she is staying with her mother. Yesterday's Fuji TV show speculated that the couple have been having money problems. A source told the Sankei Sports newspaper, "Takashiro has provided almost no financial support to his wife for her showbiz or personal expenses. Since she spent time studying in the U.K. and Spain, she has been stuck for money." Another source said that while Takashiro is intent on basing himself overseas, his wife wants to take advantage of the many movie and recording offers that she has received in Japan.

About the divorce...well, it must be sad, but being positive: many women had been successful after get rid of their husbands:
Nicole Kidman became more famous after split with Tome Cruise, and all those Oscar awarded actresses that ended in divorce...well, with something bad will come something much better and I hope it's the same in Erika's case.

Sawajiri Erika Confirms Divorce Rumor

Actress Sawajiri Erika has made her first formal statement regarding the recent rumors of her impending divorce. On her official website yesterday she wrote, "I wish to formally state that I, Sawajiri Erika, have determined to divorce my husband, Takashiro Tsuyoshi, and we are in talks under the auspices of my family." The member of her family is believed to be her elder brother, a former actor who now runs a restaurant in Tokyo. The Sankei Sports newspaper reports that a source close to the actress told them that she talked about divorce with her former management agency at least three times before she was dumped by them last September. Last month it was reported that she had set up a personal management company in Spain, but it now seems that was more to do with Takashiro's plans to base himself outside Japan. Sawajiri says that she has been taking vocal lessons and that after the divorce she will resume her acting and singing careers full-time under the Avex entertainment company.

For his part, Takashiro told Sankei Sports he does not want a divorce and has been trying unsuccessfully to meet and talk with his wife. There have been reports of his having debts and other financial problems.

Sawajiri Erika dating a French millionaire, Hollywood debut due this fall?

Now it's official that Sawajiri Erika is going to divorce Takashiro, but there is yet another unconfirmed rumor that might explain the whole situation.

Several tabloids including "Yukan Fuji" and "Tokyo Sports" are reporting that Sawajiri is dating the son of a French millionaire. It was the famous reporter Nashimoto Masaru that discovered and published the story about her new wealthy support.

"It's rumored that there is a certain millionaire acting as Sawajiri Erika's contact person for her activities in Spain. That person is currently pushing forward her debut in Hollywood and sent her recent beauty clinic commercial to several officials in the industry. He is also advertising her huge popularity in Japan in order to get her a role," he revealed.

Other insiders also claim that it's actually the son of French millionaire who is supporting her and that he is more than just a business partner. They also say that he invested a lot of money into her office in Spain.

The Tokyo Sports also clearly states that she is indeed in a relationship with this wealthy young man. "He invested in her new agency and also works as the president, of course. It's also said that Takashiro actually knows this person, but it seems like he only thought of him as a business partner of his wife." This tabloid reports that the beauty clinic commercial will work as PR for her Hollywood debut as well. "It will happen sooner than expected. A Hollywood movie with Sawajiri Erika will probably already open this fall."

This doesn't mean that she will continue to ignore the Japanese market. There are still the news about her upcoming contract with the Japanese major label Avex that will include at least one new single and a new album within this year. Tokyo Sports actually claims that they are already about to start with the recordings.

Takashiro is said to have used 2-3 million USD to back her up with her career restart, but with the recent news his support might have only been a small stepping stone in her upcoming career. There are also rumors about him having debts now. Though I don't want to claim that money was one of the reasons for the divorce.

One thing is for sure, it will never become boring again now that Sawajiri is back in the headlines.

Sawajiri Erika in happy mood despite divorce

The divorce between actress Sawajiri Erika (24) and hypermedia creator Takashiro Tsuyoshi (45) is already official  and there are already follow-up rumors regarding her alleged hot new and rich French lover, her upcoming contract with Avex and her Hollywood debut this fall.

Today Sawajiri made her first public appearance since the news about her divorce. It was the opening party for famed photographer Ninagawa Mika's (37) new photo exhibition. Sawajiri arrived with a black Mercedes and the first thing that appealed to the eyes of the present journalists were her beautiful legs. No wonder, after all she was wearing a very short white dress and even 10cm high heels to show off her legs even more. She didn't seem like a heartbroken woman at all, but the divorce was her initiative after all. Takashiro is said to have only found out about the divorce by the media. No, today she totally enjoyed the flurry of camera flashes and turned her arrival into a fashion show while never losing that very bright smile of hers.

Of course it was only the first time since her wedding that the journalists were able to spot her and take pictures of her without her wedding ring on her left ring finger. They've also tried to ask her about the divorce. "How are the divorce talks progressing? - Can you please say something to your worried fans? - Have you talked with Takashiro?" However, she remained completely silent during her 5 minutes in public. After 30 minutes she left the event and reporters tried to get a comment again, but all she said was hello.

At the exhibition there is a whole corner only with pictures of Sawajiri. Ninagawa also made the photos of her for the magazine called "SWAK" and a couple of other recent magazine spreads. In "SWAK" Sawajiri also exclusively talked about the divorce and thanks to her still strong popularity it's already sold out everywhere in Japan. The publisher commented that within 3 days after the release they've sold as many copies as they usually do within a whole month.
