Tried the Minecraft demo on XBLA, seems pretty solid. It feels really nostalgic playing the beta 1.6 version. In some ways I miss the simplicity and the old style terrain generation. It also plays smoother than it does on my laptop. x:

I'll probably wait to buy until it gets to the 1.8 update though. I don't know if I can take not being able to sprint and the old lighting that updated chunk by chunk  Plus it will have a good amount of the PC version content by that point. I'm really hoping they add some of the more popular texture packs as options too.

VF5 : Final Showdown is out on June 6th! That's real soon! :w00t: :w00t:

Quote
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown launches on PlayStation Network in the US on 5th June and on Xbox Live Arcade everywhere on 6th June, Sega has announced.

It costs $14.99/ £9.99/ AUD$18.25/ €12.99 for PSN and 1200 Microsoft Points for XBLA.

Sega said today character customisation DLC packs will be available to buy from launch day for all 19 fighters. Each character customisation pack, which includes 600 to 950 items, costs $4.99/ £3.59/ AUD$6.25/ €4.49 for PSN and 400 Microsoft Points for XBLA.

Two additional customisation packs, one with nine characters'' worth of DLC items, the other with 10, also release on launch day. These cost $14.99/ £9.99/ AUD$18.25/ €12.99 each on PSN and 1200 Microsoft Points each on XBLA.

VF5FS is the latest arcade version of the famous fighting series, developed by AM2. It adds two new characters: Taka-Arashi and newcomer Jean Kujo. There's a training mode, an eight player online room match mode and a match record feature, used to replay, save and upload fights.

Ok so the packs are pricey, but if I were to take it all into consideration, buying the game plus packs for every character, would cost me about £30, which I was happily prepared to pay for anyway. But look at it the other way, £10 for the actual game itself, all characters unlocked and everything? It's surely an impulse buy and newbies won't care about customisation as much if they need the time to play, pick a few characters and start to learn the game. The different DLC options are good too, cause if they wanted to, they could just buy a single pack for that character they're learning with.

Let's put it this way, would you rather have the core game with all the game mechanics available at £10 and the rest of the DLC be optional customisation items, or pay £50 for a full retail game that has actual characters locked on disc?

Also, have to laugh at other ignorant people on other sites making redundant statements or saying Tekken or DOA is better. Get out of my face with that shit.

*EDIT*

Also, 100 pages of gaming randomness :w00t:

I am wondering about multiple game saves. I personally don't do multiple ones. Is there anyone here that does? Can you explain the reasoning behind it? Is it so you can replay certain parts of a game again? Is it just for safety of losing other saves?

I save crazy. like every 3 steps or every 2 fights I make a save. And save over my saves jsut to be safe. :P
Like ME3, I keep every save I needed to make a decision, or before a cool moment and ran out of spots pretty soon (yes, there's a limit).
But at the end of the day, I never load them again, and I don't recall ever having an old save help me backtrack to redo something.

One thing that really bugs me is in some games, when you save over an old save, they ask you "Are you sure?" and the default is No. :shocked
The question, ok...I don't think it's needed, but I guess asking won't hurt.
But why would it default no. I clicked on the save option, and clicked on an existing save knowing it would be overwritten! of course I want to overwrite it!!
If I ever make a game, I'm gonna make an extra password entry requirement EVERY TIME you save. No... a dancedance quicktime event, and you can't save unless you get all perfects. ;)

For me, it is because of a backup option in case a save file goes wrong and I only do it for RPG's or in other words, big time sinkers. For me, I am very much a singular minded kind of player, so it's not like I reload saves if I feel like I've done something wrong, if I make a choice in a game I stick with it through to the end, and if I really wanted to, I go back over and play it again.

I do at least two, like in ME: one while I an in the Normandy just before going into the map, most of the time this is also the 'end of day' save which I continue on the next day.
One during a mission as a sort of 'checkpoint' because I have had that a auto resume was throwing me way back into a mission.

Maybe I'll re-use one of those to get the 75% Renegade in ME1, turns out I just missed that one by a few % and you can't go back otherwise to do some extra-missions.

With many older games (particularly adventure games) you could get yourself stuck in an unwinnable game state with no way of knowing. Multiple saves are a way of insuring yourself against that.

Max Payne 3 looks pretty awesome. Wondering whether to get it now or wait a few weeks for a price drop. I can wait because I have the likes of Mass Effect 3, FFXIII-2 and The Witcher 2 to keep me busy. But I will definately pick up MP3 at some point. Just a question of when. Jeff Gerstmann's reactions to the mid-air pill taking on the Giant Bomb QL was hilarious (from 5 mins in if you're interested )

i got to gamestop at around 9:30 and was really surprised to find only 3 people in line for the ghost recon launch...fuck yeh i'm #4  :twothumbs gonna be leaving in a few minutes to go back to pick up the game  :cow:

EDIT: played some of the campaign and the multi-player as well as the guerilla mode...so far i like the game...it feels A LOT like battlefield 3 tho (which is bad for me since i'm so used to mw3 lol) but it's a shame my avenger controller thing isn't here yet, i think that may help with this game a bit

^ As someone who only has experience of watching the game through Youtube and other online sources, I can say that those screenshots look relaly impressive. The environments in particular look great. The new game engine looks like it will do really well.
