Mario Kart 8 really has done DLC right, not only that, I think they took the right amount of time to make it too. Since the Zelda DLC there's been a decent enough time to wait, and get something new.

Honestly, the last time I enjoyed DLC this much was back in RE5, which was also something extra made after the game was completed. There's definitely something to stepping away and coming back later. Rather than slicing up a completed game into DLC at release, which is so common now. Stuff like optional costumes or extra characters is something I'm fine with though, it's more cosmetic than anything, buy them if you want!

There's conflicting reports, but we know for sure that the P.T demo has now been pulled from the PS Store and there's some confusion on whether anyone can play it at all even after downloading it. But it's gone for good so much so that your only chance of playing it is to buy a PS4 with it installed. Some are even selling for twice the price of a regular PS4 as a result. I have it on mine, but would like to keep it, a little piece of gaming history to hold onto. Of a Silent Hills game that could have been. ##

Really makes you hesitant about a digital download only future for games when publishers could just decide to, for example, stop offering an older game for download so as to put more focus on the newer, shinier version. So you could be prevented from downloading a game at a drop of a hat. To think, there could be titles that you will never get a chance to play as a result, like P.T. I'm certainly not ok with that idea.

Yeah Silent Hills is cancelled. There appears to be some issue with Hideo Kojima and Konami because the latter are really going out of their way to remove anything with Kojima's name on it. Whether that extends to Silent Hills because of Kojima's involvement, is unknown but Konami has officially put a halt on the game. They themselves confirmed it after Del Toro and Norman Reedus expressed their disappointment on social media that it wasn't going ahead. It's such a shame because the P.T demo not only held promise for a great Silent Hill game for a long time but just a great horror game in it's own right, with all the flair of a AAA budget that a lot of people wanted to see. The potential was incredible and so many people were excited for the project since word of mouth spread about P.T so it's a complete mystery why Konami are stopping development.

Konami are being real tossers about P.T. too, they've not only taken it off the Playstation Store, but they've also made it so that you can't even re-download it should you delete P.T. from the hard drive. So if you don't have a PS4 and were hoping to try it out for yourselves, then it's too late. Your only option now is to buy a used PS4 with P.T. already installed. People are already seizing the opportunity and selling a used PS4 with P.T. for much higher than a regular PS4. I luckily have it installed on my PS4 but I intend to keep it as a little piece of gaming history. But what a dick move to just stop anyone from playing it.

A few thoughts on this months PS Plus games

- Race The Sun: A nice little endless runner where you have to race against the sun quite literally in a flying ship as the sun starts to set. The aim is to get as far as you can, going through new levels the further you get and thus, the more obstacles to avoid. It feels a bit basic at first, but it doesn't take long before you start to collect powerups which can change the way you play. The levels are all randomised every 24 hours too so you can't rely on one path for too long before the levels reset. It's pretty fun, something to play in short bursts. I can already see myself playing it while listening to a podcast for example.

- The Unfinished Swan: Pretty interesting first person adventure game. It starts with with a storybook like presentation before you're suddenly put into the game world which is completely white. By pressing buttons you realise you throw black paint around and you use that as a means of navigating through the environment. The paint you throw hits other objects in the environment so you start to fill in objects like benches and gates and plants etc as you go through. From there it fills in the world a little bit so it's less abstract but you still use the paint as a means to discern your way through with more traditional puzzles coming your way. It's good and doesn't seem to be terribly long either.

Downloading Ether One as I type this but already my impressions aren't good as the patch is bigger than the game itself! Sure enough I've heard instances of game breaking bugs and corrupt save files so I'll brace myself accordingly.

Gave Star Drive II a whirl, because I love some 4X and Master of Orion II. It's a pretty ok game (just came out, to be fair here) in spite of the bugs and annoyances. It's also fairly difficult, as I was stomped several times while playing on easy. My most recent game has gone well, and now I have all sorts of fun weapons and shit. I think I'll be back on Endless Legend soon, though.

When the combat in Shadows of Mordor starts to flow together, it looks amazing. Here's some gameplay of me trying on a mission

I have a slight chuckle to myself as I look at Talion above and think of how insanely overpowered he is in context of Middle-Earth. Could probably fight the Battle of Helm's Deep single handedly!

Played a bit of Ether One over the weekend. It's a first person adventure game which seems to tackle the subject of dementia and human memory. You play as someone going into a patient's mind and try to restore their memory and as you do you piece together a story of what happened in this persons life etc. It's interesting, the game itself plays like Myst, where you get to stroll through an environment solving puzzles in non-sequential order by finding clues in other areas. So that safe you found in the pub can only be unlocked by finding the safe combination in a house for example. One thing the game doesn't make clear is that you can only hold one item at a time, but what you're supposed to do is warp back between the world and the hub (which is instant) and store items there. So I worry I may have screwed myself over because I left items in places where I didn't find them first time XD Why they just didn't give the player an inventory I don't know. Also, it's a game which could really benefit from a map and a journal of some kind to take down notes. At this rate, I'd be better off capturing notes through the PS4 share function or on my phone. The game doesn't run great either. But like I said, it's interesting, will see how far I get with it.

Any Castlevania fans might want to give a look at Bloodstained : Ritual Of The Night, a Kickstarter project by Koji Igarashi, the designer of the old school Castelvania games. I've been dying for another one and this looks to be the spiritual successor which ticks all the boxes. 2017 seems like a long way to wait!

Been playing the main campaign for 2 weeks.  Lots of things happening in this game, you have to manage resources, relationships, scavenging, looking for survivors, supplies, and looking for an escape.  I have had party members get killed on missions and a suicide. Found a home to support all my camp, however, it's in a high walker traffic area.

I rarely play single-player games more than once. Once I experience the story, I'm satisfied and move on. But I started replaying Sleeping Dogs on the PC, and I'm sucked back in.

I knew it was them just based off the direction and the way it was edited, they're pretty distinctive in that regard. Love the ending, Bill should never have criticised Reggie's Japanese
