«I went to see the performance today in Akasaka. My seat was quite front so I watched most the play with naked eyes but from time to time I also used binoculars to focus on Rena’s expressions. To make things short, Rena’s acting was perfect. She was the only member who didn’t a single time flounder, bite her tongue or forgot her line and the intonation of her voice was right. Overall her level was something else entirely compared to others. The only member you could try to put her in perspective with was Ikuta, but even if she was good, her awkwardness when it comes to comedy or maybe was it her lack of experience with variety, made her overall impact a bit meek.

I went to see the play 3 times in a row, the day before yesterday, yesterday and this evening. So tonight seeing Rena perform this central role of Luida the Evil Queen, the gap between her acting abilities and those of everyone else was obvious.

Also during the dance scenes or the mini live at the end, her dynamism and sharpness were different from the rest of the group, there it became clear SKE and Nogizaka dance performance levels are nothing alike.

I’ve seen countless SKE stages before and antis have always run their mouths on how her moves were smaller than those of Jurina, on how she wasn’t swift enough, but among Nogizaka her level might actually be just a bit too high. Chances are she understands it and that gives her confidence. Although for the last song 「Romance no Start」she suddenly disappeared from the front and went somewhere I couldn’t follow her (I kept looking for her but couldn’t find where she had gone), my guess is that she hasn’t learnt the choreography yet and exited the stage for that part.

For the last day I wish she could somehow remember the script and apply for the role of Princess Purin but Rena being the perfectionist she is when it comes to acting, it’s possible she won’t venture challenging a role with so many long lines. At any rate, it proved a thrilling experience to be able today, with all the audience and members alike, to witness firsthand the real acting skills of the person who is today AKB Group Number One actress.»

Frog comment : Fan report alright, but I’ve seen tons of comments praising Rena’s acting in Principal and it’s no coincidence, I think, if she performed in the 2nd act the 4 times she played. Spectators have been saying you could *feel* the madness when she took on the role of Luida.
The dance skills point stand true too. She might not be Yukko or Yuria, but Rena has become really good over time. Really.

Hope tomorrow will be a fun last day of Principal for everyone ♪
