Ken Ishii (Japanese: ケン・イシイ) is a Japanese techno DJ and producer from Sapporo. He graduated from Hitotsubashi University. He has released work under his own name as well as under the pseudonyms: FLR, Flare, UTU, Yoga, and Rising Sun.

Strongly influenced by Detroit techno, Ken Ishii had his first release on Richie Hawtin's label Plus 8. He composed the music for the opening ceremonies to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. He provided a track for the 2001 video game Rez by Sega: Creation The State Of Art which is the music used in the third level of the normal game, as well as music for the game LSD. His track "Let It All Ride" has also been used in the PSP video game Lumines II.

Basically japanese think girl groups are for Otaku. Needless to say AKB48's fan don't care of their music. Because they buy their CDs just for shaking hands with the members. So ordinary people don't know about AKB48. Today Perfume is only and the most popular girl group in japan. They rose in popularity because of their producer, Yasutaka Nakata(ex.capsule), and their MV. Otaku and snob, both could like Perfume.
It seems girl groupe like BRIGHT has no place to be popular in japan, unless they bring Otaku or snob into focus. Their music is half done. Sometimes for Otaku, sometimes for teenager. Though most japanese even don't know about BRIGHT. If record label (avex) tries to sell them seriously, maybe they can be the new standard for japanese girl group.

Yeah, and Perfume is hardly a regular girl group with their heavily computerized vocals and Nakata could probably make the sound of paint drying interesting. Can they even sing for real? Lol.
Yeah, I'd say they can sing decently.  You can hear it from time to time when they aren't doing lip-sync at concerts/performances.  Like so many before them, PERFUME is one of those groups that doesn't really allow for much real singing, even if they could or wanted to.  Just ask Mika Todd how often she got to flex her vocals in Mini Moni.  e_e

But yeah, maybe I'm just comparing too much to the Korean scene, where they push out girl groups with actual talent all the time. That just isn't happening in Japan, because there's simply no demand.

I'd say that's true of most girl pop groups, no matter where they're from, but there's still a huge market for talented singers outside of that market in Japan.  Like most of the groups/artists at Kouhaku were great singers, too many to even name.

Oh and I'll leave this here:

To be honest, I can admit totally japanese singers are not good at singing. Of course there are some exception though, good singers tend to sing boring songs. Because many japanese listeners like boring songs.
That's why they're hard to deal with R&B. R&B needs skill as a singer. I tried to find unique R&B japanese singer, but I couldn't.

Well, this girl is produced by The Neptunes.

Handsomeboy Technique makes dance/indie pop music from sampling. About 90% of his music is sampling, he said.

Japanese duo BESPA KUMAMERO (べスパ☆くまメロ) formed in March 2001, creating a unique blend of electro pop, industrial and techno, fused inseparably with a futuristic visual image that sets them apart on the nearby Tokyo club scene.

ARIA is an R&B singer in japan. She belongs to rhythm zone. She is often featured famous rappers, but she doesn't sell well.
First song sounds like Kylie Minogue.

Yes, FLOPPY is a japanese techno-pop band. Syaraku Kobayashi (from Metronom) and Hirotake Toda (from Shinjuku Gewalt) formed that band.

Metronom's song.

Shinjuku Gewalt's song.
