^Easy with the youtube spamming. Four in one post after another without any other content is pushing it, this ain't a straight up postwhore thread. :P

---

Sometimes whiny bitches are helpful. As always happens when a band tries out some new shit, there's people hating on Mastodon's new stuff, and one of them mentioned preferring a band called American Heritage.

So I had to check em out, and true enough, they sound somewhat like early Mastodon. Everything else aside, I'm currently digging their 2006 album Millenarian:

A quote from british magazine, Total Guitar: Millenarian is " mostly about getting killed, eating greasy hash browns, having your blood removed and replaced with brake fluid; playing multi-necked guitars and the popularity of badminton."

They seem to take themselves very seriously too! :P

Since we're on the subject of Nightwish:

Tarja Nightwish was pretty cool, the only real problem I have with some of the female singers in metal taht you've posted is that they trend too much toward ballad-ish songs.  I guess the real problem is they trend away from high-energy songs,  but they can be really cool!  (see above)

... And while we're on the subject of female singers in general:

Hope this wasn't posted earlier.

New Wolves in the Throne Room album, Celestial Lineage, has leaked. Probably my fave track of the bunch.

Oh hey, that's pretty awesome. I had no idea Jesse was still around.

Alive or Just Breathing is easily my fave KsE album. After Jesse left, Howard Jones was the perfect replacement in the vocal duties, but the songs just haven't been as consistently good as on "Alive".

Gotta check this album out, samples sound pretty sweet.

The Times of Grace album is perhaps one of my favourites this year. I can't stop listening to it. But I also discovered, whilst looking for related stuff, that Jesse had formed another band prior to that called The Empire Shall Fall. The album's called Awaken and it's just as heavy as Alive.... If you thought Alive.. was primarily down to Jesse's strengths as a brilliant lyricist and singer, then you can pretty much expect the same here. And you know what, the vocal delivery may be even better than on Alive.... The rest of the band is pretty solid too. It's fucking awesome. And the good news is that a new record's in the making.

Marty Friedman has freaked out some metal fans with his enjoyment of the J-Music world, but I think he is like an ambassador...bridging two worlds....

feel the LOVE   :deco:   (and in case there is someone who reads this thread who has not heard this song, it is Aitakatta - the original version by uber popular idol group AKB48):

Nirvana isn't Metal. They're Grunge, which is a sub-genre of Alternative Rock. Nirvana has some Metal characteristics, but I definitely wouldn't classify them as Metal .

Here is some Metal in case you're confused.

Just heard this band.  They sound promising.  A bit "core" at times, and a bit "Joey Sturgis" with the production, but it's not bad.  Apparently, they tracked the album in a machine shop.  That's pretty metal.

This is a pretty interesting band that's doing something a bit different.  The bassist recently joined Obscura:

Some DÅÅTH as I am really digging Eyal's playing lately:

Finally, let's not forget that Anthem recently came out with a very solid album.  Great band representing some 80s-esque Japanese heavy metal:

Anyone else here who likes Ulcereate ?

This might be amongst the greatest and most interesting metal-drumming, i have ever seen:

Ulcerate is a really good tech death band.  For drumming, Peter Wildoer is great at creating some interesting drum lines for Darkane.  I really like how everything meshes with the lead solo, too.

and if you want insane, it doesn't get much more ridiculous than Arsis' "We are the Nightmare" album.  Darren Cesca absolutely KILLED on that album.  I could have sworn it was programmed until I started looking into it.

Feel free to PM me for Japanese to English translations.
