“My Darling is a Foreigner”, will we see a sequel? "My Darling is a Foreigner" starring Inoue Mao (23) opened today and the cast attended a stage greeting at the Toho Cinema in Roppongi, Tokyo. The movie is based on a popular manga by the same name and describes the daily life of a Japanese woman her American boyfriend. In the original story you are able to follow the couple until the birth of their first child. The movie doesn't go that far, but the director mentioned that he would love to continue the story with Inoue. She smiled and replied, "It all depends on the success of this movie and you, the audience." Her reaction showed that she would like to film a sequel as well. Now it's the job of the people to make this movie successful enough for that to actually happen. The story is about the Japanese woman Saori (Inoue) and American man Tony (Jonathan Sherr). First full of conflicts and cultural differences, the two of them soon start to love each other and eventually advance to marriage. She begins to refer to him as "darling", a term not very often used by Japanese and repeatedly the cause for some funny moments throughout the movie.About marrying a foreigner herself, Inoue said: "I think that would be nice." Further she added: "I always thought and still think that I'm someone with little prospects of getting married, but I would really like to run into a great partner soon and live a life as a married couple."
