A bit late to the party on this.

Mostly because of Steam and its outright fuckery regarding release dates; Anyway I fired up SP (shut up, I don't have friends ;_;), and rolled myself a Lilith. Liking it so far, will really get into it soon, when I have some proper time. The pc version feels a bit too console-y, though. What with small FOV, and the weird way the mouse moves. Not liking the whole 'press enter to proceed' shit, either.

I played a little of it and liked it!
Nothing spectacular but it's a fun experience. Getting loot, killing the enemies, accept next mission, rinse and repeat.
I like these RPG elements, but the lack of story, a good setting or more paced shooting makes it go down a bit in my playing list.

The 10 minutes this laptop could stomach were delicious.

I'm sure on my own computer the game will be much prettier, and more fun. Can't waaaaaaaait :jerk:

I got it for 360, it's really fun with friends. I think I heard some of the people who made Diablo I and II were on this game. It's kinda like an FPS diablo, or a mix between Call of Duty and Diablo, with elements of WoW lol

I bought this for the PC and I wish I didn't. The UI probably is great on consoles, but sucks bad on the PC. The fact that you can't do simple things like TRADE to others (actually have to drop items) is BAD. The fact that you don't RANDOM loot that drops is BAD. The fact that the DLC doesn't come out for the PC when it comes out for the console is BAD. The fact that you have to be in the same zone as everyone else is BAD. The fact that others can force you to not zone or vice versa is BAD.

Overall, the game is alright, and I enjoy it from time to time. I just don't know why I enjoy it, exactly. Nothing terribly stands out, and a lot of it feels rushed; at least on the PC version. There's nothing that really makes me yearn to play the game, but I will play it from time to time and usually that session lasts a couple hours.

The story, characters, and environment itself don't really stand out. The graphics are decent, but I'd love to see what it would've looked like if they used their original graphics. It'd be cool if they put that out as a skin dlc or for free preferably.

I give the game a 7/10. Not great, not bad. I suppose it could be fun with 4 friends, but it's not translating.

I only play single player, so that probably colours my perceptions, but I thought it was well done. The menus were a bit of a pain, but no worse than the console. I did like the graphical direction.

I think 7/10 is about right. I played it through twice, but I'm not really planning a 3rd play-through anytime soon. It's like Torchlight in that it offers good action, but not much else. Since it gets the action right it's fun, but it's not a game people will remember in 5 years.

Borderlands is apparently keeping it's publisher alive. 2 mil copies were sold, therefore, expect plenty of sequels.

I'm glad it was successful. It wasn't exactly crying out for a sequel though - but we'll see. There are definitely so obvious improvements that would improve it.

I think Borderlands is one of the more original shooters atm. I'm not into that call of duty hype. For me, that is just another shooter. But I find Borderlands special, cause it has these RPG elements in it. You could call it a RPS (Role Playing Shooter). Also the visual style is nice. It's cartoony, but not kiddy, so I find that original as well. The story isn't..euh.. well it's nothing special. I did like the intro though. One of the best intros I have seen in a while. Also.. I find the game hilarious at some parts. For example Dr Ned instead of Dr Zed. Too bad there's only 1 action skill, but I guess it's not really possible to put in anymore. Controllers have a limited number of buttons and most of them r taken by some action already. I haven't finished the game yet, so I can't really give it an honest score yet. But for now.. I would give it a 8/10, because it's original, funny, good gameplay, it's fun online, takes quite some hours to finish and it has 2 fun DLCs: Dr Ned's zombie island and Mad Moxxie's Underdome Riot. So yeah I think it's a success, but if they're ever gonna make a sequel. I'd like to see a good story and I'd like the characters to be more involved. I mean, your character doesn't even speak to the NPCs... Like in a cutscene or something. It's like you could just put any character in that game and it wouldn't matter. But yeah... I think it's one of the better shooters that r available atm.

I've been playing it now for the past month or so and I've been having a blast with it.  I played through about half the game single player before a real life friend of mine started playing it as well.  So I remade a character to do co-op with him and played through the whole game like that.  It can be pretty hard if you aren't up to par on weapons and level, but beyond that you can learn how to handle it easily.  Some of the encounters are really fun, and comedy in the game is pretty top-notch as well.  If I had to complain about one thing is that the first 3/4 of the game is very similar in setting:  Desert, desert, desert.  The variety of enemies you fight is very small in that some portion as well.  However, after that you start fighting your way into the vault and encountering Atlas troops it got real interesting again.  Shame about how easy the last boss was though, cause the fight to him was much harder than he was.

Playing with a friend really brings it to life even more with some of the crazy stuff that can happen, especially if you can be on Skype with each other.  We were both playing Brick, so we'd roll up and double berserker on people and light 'em up.  It also cranks up the difficulty of the game a bit with the more people you play with, and the loot quality increases as well.  Never really had drop problems since we were both getting our weapons from chest/vendor farming on our own.

All in all I'd say it's one of the most original FPS games I've played.  If it wasn't for the game being so hard at the beginning and then becoming so trivial as you learn what to do, as well as a lack in variety for settings and enemies for most of the game, then it'd be perfect.

Rating: 8/10.
