Longtime virtual gamer Sara Andrews didn't know she would cause much of a ruckus when she began recruiting new members of her "World of Warcraft" virtual gaming guild, which mostly caters to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender players.

In recruitment messages she posted on WoW, she wrote that the guild was not "'glbt only,' but we are 'glbt friendly.'"

To WoW publisher Blizzard Entertainment, however, Andrews' message was out of bounds. The Irvine, Calif.-based game publisher said her recruiting was a violation of the game's harassment policy, specifically the section of that policy regarding sexual orientation. Andrews was quickly warned in an e-mail to stop recruiting inside the game and to take all such efforts to forums outside WoW's virtual world. Andrews was also warned that if she didn't stop recruiting for the guild inside WoW, she risked being banned from the game.

That's fuckin lame! I know of some guys playing as girls on Maple Story, why don't they start a guild there! Fuck WoW!

Blizzard has a policy that Guilds shouldn't be based on out of game reasons - so no GBLT guilds, no Christian guilds, no Jewish guilds, no neo-NAZI guilds, no Korean-American guilds, etc.

Blizzard is stuck with the fact that the majority of their player base are homophobic racist assholes, so they try to keep people from making themselves targets.

A better solution would be to ban about 60% of the games player base, but obviously Blizzard doesn't want to lose that sort of money.

I dunno...I'm kind of neutral on this issue. I guess I don't see anything wrong with making a guild for specific types of people if it involves interests because then it's easier to talk while playing...but if they just said "glbt friendly" there is nothing wrong with that. Funniest shit was when people were complaining how Ragnarok Online didn't have gay marriages...HELLO? Gravity is KOREAN, Koreans are not going to add homosexual marriages to their game (>___>) (plus it threw off the wedding skill of female players give male players sp and male players give female players hp)

Yay for Blizzard. Banning gay guilds was weird anyway.
