I while back to I asked about the noises in my laptop and y'all were uber helpful and said it would be the fan and helped me a lot with that... but you also said the overheating that it had been doing could have caused further damage... well looks like it, it's doing too many crazy things to mention now but one is that it keeps telling me  I need to back up all my files (don't care, I don't keep things on it for a reason seeing the many issues I've had with it  ) and replace the harddrive

Anyway, do you guys think it's worth replacing the harddrive or just buy a new laptop coz I don't know if anything else is stuffed in it as well?

EDIT:
SORRY!!! Another question... I can't get my torrents to d/l and it's telling me that the ports aren't open/forwarding... I've been through the whole setting up a new 'rule' in the router settings to forward the port that way, which has worked in the past... I've deleted a bunch of the torrents I was seeding and cleared room on my harddrive (well I deleted 47 vids and it only clear 4GB, wtf?!) but it's still not working, if anything it's gotten worse... Any other suggestions?
(oh and this is not the laptop so it should be less 'touchy' :P)

Fugg me, as soon as I wrote that it decided to work, but still any suggestions in case it stuffs up again (it does still say its not connecting properly) would be a great help.

^ Deleted files normally end up in the recycle bin, they only get deleted 'for real' when there is need for space (or you delete them from the recyle bin) so deleting filers doesn't need to directly count to free space.
Between 10% and 20% of the disk can be reserved for this.

^ I did delete them from the recycle bin and did a disk clean-up, compressed old files, deleted temp. files etc so I don't know why it wasn't very much... I wouldn't be surprised if most of the video files were corrupt though and then they tend to take up less room? so maybe that was it... Tis ok, I'll delete a bunch more soon anyway, i keep everything backed up and only leave things on the actual computer if I'm seeding, haven't watched them yet or I'm lazy :P

I got that error from this forum I go to. The weird thing is, the front page loads just fine, but once you click on the forums, it'll give you that error. The shoutbox page on the same server works just fine too.

The error is probably only with the actual forum but since everything else runs separate from it they're fine.

i need to know how to rip audio files from a DVD-video, iso format.
can I do it using DVDx 2.10?  or is it better if I use another software? which one and where can I get it? for free?

I think most encoders (at least ones I know of) can do it. It's called "demuxing" so you might want to look for something like that. Sorry I'm not much help, I've never used DVDx but it should be able to do it. This will seperate the video and audio of the file, so you'll probably end up with a video file with no audio and the seperate audio file.

And then if you want, you can encode the audio to whatever codec you want; mp3, m4a, etc. From the feature list on DVDx's site it might be able to do all of this for you. It's good to look in the audio or encoding options to se if there is an option for audio only.

If you just want a certain part, before you do anything you might want to first cut the video to just the part with the audio you want. If you already demuxed the audio you can just cut the audio but I prefer using the video as a guide to where I want to cut.

The only program I've used to do something like this is VirtualDubMod, but I'm on a mac right now, and can't really give any detailed instructions since I haven't used it in years.

You need to access the vob files, so either mount the iso with a virtual dvd drive using software like Daemon Tools or burn the iso to dvd and then copy the vob files off the disk again. (Daemon Tools is much easier)

Once you have the vobs in a folder on you harddrive, use a program called DGmpgdec. http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Decoders/dgmpgdec150.zip
Open all the vobs from 1 to however many there are and just choose save project. It will then save two files, one will be a project file and the other will be the audio ripped from the video. This might be in the raw AC3 format so you'll need to then have software that can handle this or re-encode it from AC3 to mp3 or something.

.ogg is an audio format, not video.  Winamp should be able to play them.

I don't know what you mean by "look up winrar files"?  You're trying to play them?  Have you unrared them first?

I have been able to turn my some of my live DVDs into high quality .mp3's, using only free software, but its a right pain in the behind and uses 3 different programs and a lot of patience. I would think you can do the same with a .iso, just mount it first and treat it like a normal DVD. I don't mind writing a guide, but its quite a long method. :P (it also depends if I can remember how to do it!)

Once you copy the vob files onto your pc you can use tmpgenc to "demultiplex" the audio stream.  The audio will be either mp2 or .ac3 (or .aac, I always get those 2 confused).
Then load the audio into whatever audio editing software you use and chop out the appropriate parts.
Audio editing programs might not accept ac3/aac in which case convert them to wav with something like dbpoweramp or besweet.

It should still be available on utorrent if you didn't delete it off so just pick the torrent you want. Go onto the files tab, right-click on the file you want to dl and click "normal." Can't check it right now, but I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

^^ If the torrent is still open, you can just select more files.. If you have closed it (not displayed on utorrent anymore), you  can just open the .torrent file again, and select the files you want, and if you haven't moved the ones you already have downloaded, it will do a "hash check" to make sure they have completed and then will start downloading the others..

(if you don't care about seeding, I would suggest moving the files you already have to a different folder, and avoid the hash check, because simple things like playing an mp3 (some media players write to the ID tag... play count..etc) which changes the file and then the hash check won't show 100%, so it will need to download a bit more for them)

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do.  If you want to do download more files from a torrent you've opened before, then just go through and check/uncheck what you want and don't want and it'll download your new selections.  What's the problem?
