Ok, so now Japanese is showing up on Firefox. But still not on my computer itself, like with my music files.

Have you tried this?
http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept/Language/asianlanguageinstallation_XP.html
(That site uses Chinese as an example, but choose Japanese from the menu, obviously.)

Some bootleg versions of windows don't need the disc, all the files it needs should be already on your system, hopefully yours is like that.

Yeah, I tried that site but it still keeps asking me for my disc.. and like I said, the disc doesn't seem to want to work.

yeah, from my experience you need the disc to install Japanese language support into windows XP.

But I know when I install windows I have an opportunity to install it, but I don't know if you want to go through all that when it might not work either since you can't do it after you install it. Maybe you can try dling a windows XP install disc through torrent. Then you can mount it with a disc emulator like PowerISO or burn it onto a CD.

Anyone have a Dell laptop screen flicker and then freeze up?? I called the Dell tech support and he installed the drivers while noticing my porn wall / links.

I did a litle harder reserach and found this, http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/direct2dell/archive/2008/08/18/nvidia-gpu-update-dell-to-offer-warranty-enhancement-to-all-affected-customers-worldwide.aspx

Could this be the problem? I *have* been noticing my video games slowing up, and shit getting hotter. I thought it was summer

^ It's very possible. To my knowledge, it's not an if these NVidia GPU's will fail but when. Excess heat is definitely a problem, and video games losing frame rate is a major symptom of an overheating chip, so I'd definitely ask about it.

I have a HP Pavilion zv6130us laptop, my dvd drive on my laptop is defective so I bought a replacement part.  The drive is supposedly easy to remove and install, with only one screw holding it in place.  but that screw is rounded, the head where the philips screwdriver fits in.  I think it's a PM2.0x7.0 screw.  Now how can I remove that screw now and what tools would do the job.  I do have a small screwdriver kit, used for small applications like this.  but since the screw is now rounded, I can't do anything.

^ you could try and make it into a flat-bed screw head by filing a bit.

Last option would be filing away the whole head and/or drilling the screw out so that it doesn't hold the drive anymore, but that might end up giving even more problems if metal gets into the machine in the wrong places...

Don't drill, the vibrations will ruin the hard drive.
Surely the easiest solution is to find the correct type of screwdriver?

My computer, which is only a few or so weeks old, makes this kind of deep whirring noise coming from inside. It didn't do that at first, but now it happens every day after using it for a long time. Should I have my fan checked out again?

By rounded you mean it's worn off so that no screwdriver would work on it, right? hmmmm~ this is kind of a crazy idea, but what if you take a screwdriver you don't really need and power-glue it to the screw? i mean... you'll lose the screw and screwdriver, but at least you can replace the drive, no?

could be that the fan's screw to the casing is loose, so when it increases in speed it makes that noise.
that or it's dusty (which is unlikely, since your pc is new)

I'm not talking high-speed drilling, but either a hand-drill or a power-drill on very low speed (like one revolution per second).
As the screw is 'rounded' (which I interpret as the normal tools can't do their job) its a last resort to drill-out the screw, still need to be very carefull with applying the correct amount of presure.
Also we are talking about the DVD driver, you can pull the HD before starting this.

This is becoming a bit of an annoyance for me. I recently bought a new laptop and anytime I'm on the internet (Firefox) for some odd reason when I decide to type at pace, it does random stuff that I don't want to happen. Even as I typed that sentence I had a new tab open up on me. Other stuff can happen as well like, selecting a whole block of text, deleting text, opening my bookmark tab. I've never encountered this problem with my old laptop on XP. Is this a problem with Firefox and Vista? Laptop itself?

This mashing your control key a bit - it may be stuck halfway. I had a similar problem and that solved it.

I don't understand your problem. You were dling a vid from youtube and you deleted the file as it was dling?

Is it still in your recycle bin? You can try putting it back where it was and dl the file again and hope it resumes. Otherwise, just dl the file again.

^ redownload is the easiest (its just a few KB normally for the .torrent), if you mean the file that you downloaded with the torrent: check you recycle bin as SitS indicated.

There is a free recovery software you could try, ckd. You can grab it at http://www.recuva.com/ - though if you have written more data to the drive the chance of recovery is reduced. Might be worth a try though if it's a huge file.

Edit: Oh see you already redownloaded. Keep it in your arsenal for next time. It's saved my ass a few times!
