There really isn't a way to avoid those wait times, sadly. Megaupload, Rapidshare, and some others are completely automated in JDownloader, so I try to stick to these hosts. jpop and FileShare won't have the captcha done automatically for some reason, so you have to manually enter that. Otherwise though, you can queue a great number of files, and largely ignore it all.

not sure if this is the proper forum to post this since AKB48 has it's own subforum but since my problem is about running the AKB 1/48 Aidoru to Koishitara iso, this should be the right place to post, is it?

anyway i am using jcpsp 0.6 r1948 to run AKB 1/48 Aidoru to Koishitara iso. but the thing is jcpsp is giving me an error message that says: "Patch module Prometheus Loader detected! Patched files are not supported by JPCSP!"

does this mean i really won't be able to the game in my PC? also are there other emulators that can run the AKB game?

I'm a complete Windows noob, and I now work with Windows computers on an everyday basis at work. It's going fine for the most part, but I just got a new computer with Windows 7 Professional, and I have a MAJOR annoyance.

Taskbar popups/previews

(not my screenshot, but this is what I mean).

How can I disable these? I haven't found any options for it, and this guide got me nowhere.

Appreciate any help xD; Also appreciate general Windows 7 tips and tricks, because I haven't touched Windows computers since.. err 2003 or so. I feel very lost and confused.

Well, the method in that guide is almost the only way to complete disable that feature short of disabling Aero completely.
Some users seem to have no luck with that either.

There is a workaround that's easy to do, but unfortunately won't disable it completely.
Use this program:

then move the "Delay Time" slider all the way to the right.

It should at the very least delay it long enough that you'll never see it unless you really want to.
I personally find the thumbnails useful (like if you have multiple browser windows open and want to select one of them correctly the first time), but that's my personal preference.

As for tips and tricks, one thing I really like is how the Windows key has a LOT more functions attached to it:

Also, right-clicking or dragging upwards on taskbar icons usually opens a list of helpful things you could do with a given program:

I've set the taskbar to autohide, so I don't really use it at all (except for switching windows/checking what time it is.. etc) xD I'm a mac user, and I guess it shows. I'm not used to having screenspace occupied by stuff I don't need to know. 8D

Why would you ever have multiple browser windows open? o_O; Tabbed browsing, baby~~ xDDD

Anyway, thanks! Unfortunately I'm not allowed to install random programs on my work computer

So I'll see what I can do. If switching off Aero doesn't affect the auto-hide feature, then Ill go with that. Otherwise I might just have to learn to live with them D: Seriously wow, why didn't anyone think to make a simple "do not want" option for such a predominant feature? @_@; Completely baffles me.

You should have read a little further down on that page..

The preview is actually a very nice feature if you have things like multiple remote desktops and by just hovering over the taskbar you can very easy and fast see/select the one you need.

For me its one of the better new features.

I have a problem. I have a laptop, running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. there are 2 internal hard drives C: and G:. Whenever I played any videos from G: drive, the video freezes, in fact the whole computer sort of as well. then return, but a huge skip, while the audio and video not in sync. usually a manual fast forward or reverse would fix the sync problem. But that's not the point. I don't have any problems watching videos from the C: drive, just this. I wonder what's up? I upgraded my memory from 4GB to 8GB and still have that problem. I'd reformat the G: and scan to check for errors, but still. external hard drives doesn't have this problem as well. just the G: drive, the secondary internal hard drive. could it be the drive itself? maybe something to do with it's cache or latency? even though I had no idea what those two are...
Please help, anything is appreciated.

You need a proxy or a VPN (virtual private network) connection to another network. Both won't hide your IP address, that is technically impossible, but show the IP of the proxy or the other network and not your own.
Setting up a proxy for torrent can be a difficult task because you need to be able to set a proxy for peer connections and for communication with the tracker (some clients only support a proxy for communication with the tracker I think). You might also need a so called SOCKS proxy for it to work properly since I think the peer to peer data transfer isn't done with HTTP.
Using a proxy will often slow down your speed by the way.

Everyone always sees your IP when you're on the internet. Only like 0.00009% of all web servers out there don't do logging of IPs.
So the MU, MF etc. will log your IP when you download and even just when you visit their page.

If you are worried about copy-right problems you might check your local law regarding what is illegal and what isn't. Here in Germany downloading isn't really illegal yet so there is no problem when they see the ip. Torrent is just a "problem" here because you basically always upload and that's the illegal part.
Technically speaking, downloading a video from youtube isn't any different than downloading a video or mp3 from MU, MF and such. The business model is even almost the same... just a different name and some different functions.

About your previous problem. I can't tell. But when I had problems with freezing either replacing the cables did work (especially when it's connected via S-ATA and not IDE) or installing an additional fan / putting the hard drive to another slot if it gets too hot.

PS: when using a proxy always try to use one that is located outside your country because they'll often log as well and people might find you this way still.

Avoiding American stuff will probably solve 80% (based on a completely scientific hunch) of your copyright problems. If you ever follow the news closely on these copyright 'issues' the same groups keep popping up and they are usually American (RIAA, MPAA etc). Some people might find it tough to not download certain things but it's not a problem for me. I don't have the attitude that I must have a particular song, movie etc. I'm usually more supportive of indie acts.

Otherwise it's a matter of staying informed and treating it as a cost-risk-benefit problem.

*sigh* The internet just doesn't seem to be a as fun a place as it used to be.

I have a tendency to download series as they are not yet available around here for at least a half year to a year (and when they are available they are hard-subbed so I do not care anymore)

My collection of DVDs/CDs attests to the fact I live by the rule: by last cound I have about 2000 DVDs and 400CDs

It's good when you have that much money to spare but there might be people who can't afford to buy everything.
Buying things you like to support the creator is always good since you probably want more of that but it's not always possible but I expect everyone to buy stuff they like when they can afford it too.

When it comes to purchasing decisions, the company/person I am paying money to is just as important as the work itself. I don't want to spend money knowing that it is going to be spent on lawyers, lobby firms or in support of other potentially unethical/disagreeable acts.

This is why I boycott certain groups and companies. I will neither purchase nor even download works from those groups.

I've just had my first bdiso a few days ago and with daemon tools (lite) mounting and latest media player classic home cinema playing worked fine out of the box (on win7) except for some skipping forward issues.
I might add that I used the "open dvd" menu option to load it since I don't know what files works best on bdisos lol
