Dupuis will no longer play because of blood clots12.08.2015Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis will no longer play hockey because of a medical condition related to blood clots, Dupuis and the team announced today.Dupuis, 36, had played 18 games this season while taking blood thinners but experienced several recent medical incidents possibly related to his condition. He had to be removed from several games – most recently on December 1 at San Jose – and each time had to undergo a series of tests."Despite playing on a medical protocol that has worked for other players in the NHL, we feel that the risk of Pascal playing with his condition and the side effects of the tests to monitor him are just not in the best interest of his long-term health," said Dr. Dharmesh Vyas, the Penguins' team physician.
Winnipeg to host outdoor NHL game at IGFPosted: 02/13/2016 6:28 PM Investor's Group Field. The wait for the Winnipeg Jets to host an NHL game outdoors is over, the Free Press has confirmed. The game will feature the Jets and Edmonton Oilers, to be played at Investors Group Field sometime in late October of next season. The idea of hosting an outdoor game in the prairie province isn’t a new one; the NHL and the Jets had been in talks with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the city’s CFL team and residents of the stadium, about plans to have the game this season but were stalled for a number of reasons, including the fact Winnipeg was hosting the Grey Cup.NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has not been shy about the idea, publicly admitting he felt the NHL owed Winnipeg an outdoor game, and Jets co-owner Mark Chipman hinted last month at a local sports dinner that an announcement of an outdoor game would be coming soon.An official date has yet to be determined.
Arizona Coyotes' captain Shane Doan thinks he's come up with a pretty good concept to eliminate the ability to "tank."“The day you’re mathematically eliminated, you start accumulating points. When you get to the end of the year, whoever’s accumulated the most points gets the first overall pick,” Shane Doan told AZ Central Sports' Sarah McLellan.
