I don't think I've ever had a bad controller as such. The 360 one is the best for FPS I think, something feels so right when pulling the Right Trigger for shooting dudes.

One of my favourites though is the Dreamcast

The Dreamcast was a great controller - it fit Soul Calibur really well and the personal screen was a great idea for doing things like choosing plays in football games. Sad that technology never went anywhere.

The one I love the most would be a mix of the PS controller (Dualshock) and the Xbox 360.

The triggers in the PS controller are not as good as they could be, and the D-pad on the 360 are horrible.  For some games I'd rather use one, or the other.

But since we are talking about favorites, I just share my downright most horrible controller ever.

Let's begin:
1. D-pad, so small, stiff and it looks like a tumor, I don't know, it seems like it's dropping from the controller.
2. Analogs: who came up with the idea of puting an octagon ? what's the point ? Isn't these analog capable of much more subtle movement than simple 8 directions ? I know for a fact they are. So why why an octagon, not only it doesn't look good, but it troubles you gaming experience sometimes.
3. Triggers: Not as clunky as the PS controller but still terrible. Why only SEGA (Dreamcast) and Microsoft (Xbox 1 and Xbox 360) got it right ?
4. Button placement: This is the "coup de grâce" for me.A big  A  button with the other buttons clustered around it ? Why ? To make it harder for you to play ? Couldn't they just copy Sony, Sega or .... THEMSELVES ? Yeah, The Super Nintendo controller was pretty good, wasn't it ? B A X Y placement of buttons was so damn good that everybody copied it, EXCET Nintendo themselves.

Bottom line, the gamecube was just meant not to be a succes like the other Nintendo consoles, if a single thing as the controller couldn't be done right, I can't imagine what they were thinking. Maybe Miyamoto was seek when they planned it and somehow the other people screw it up ... Not to mention the horrible design choice of using mini DVDs as a media format, but let's not go that far or else I'll write forever.

Favorite: PS360
Most hated: Gamecube

The idea is that it locks a direction in place for when you need to run straight ahead or at a 45 degree angle. I've seen posts where people have complained that the PS3/360 lack this feature.

For me, the PS series of controllers are the default with it's shape and button placement.

It's like, the spoon of controllers. :cow:

Playstation controller would be best, if they would switch the d-pad and left stick. Horrible for my hands. I like the 360 one, original Xbox controller (srsly, fits perfectly), but my favorite is the Dreamcast controller.

The n64 controller is one of my favorites because it is so unusual. Show a kid who never experienced playing with an n64 and their minds are blown away from the controller. Then have them play Perfect Dark or something with it. So awesome

I don't think I've hated any controllers. I've never felt like I was fighting with any of them or that I was even really holding anything. I thought the GC controller looked bad, but once I bought the system I had no problem with it at all. I think I actually liked the controller.

If I had to pick one, I guess PS2 (I've only played the PS3 once). I like the 360's contoller, but having so much trouble with fighting games makes me favor the PS2 more. I'd rather have better control of fighting games than the two sticks.

I don't think I could love any controller more than the SNES controller, but that's mostly nostalgia.

I don't think it's nostalgia, it's probably because it's the basis for the controllers we have today. PS3/360/Wii Classic they all look like the SNES controller. They've just added more top buttons (L2 and R2) and analog sticks.
Of course, how it fits in our hands is different, but the main thing is the same.

I believe that just like we are using the PS controller for over 10 years, we could easily use the SNES (having the added analogs - just like the dualshock 1 did at the time).

What you're describing is basically the Wii Classic Controller.

The playstation controllers are the best. They are comfortable, reliable and you can access every button without having to move your fingers!

In addition, I really love that the buttons are analog too, and not just the sticks. When playing Gran Turismo, you can control the gas with the X button very precisely  :thumbup

Dual Shock 2 (don't like the R2 and L2 triggers on the DS3)

360 controller for non-fighter related titles. PS2/PS3 for d-pad fighters.
