so i found this Rio compilation bringing it back to season one

and an extra video featuring OgiYagi (we don't really give em a lot of credit huh)
this video features Kojima Haruna of akb and Shiraishi Mai of nogizaka

now
why OgiYagi didn't pull off something like this during onedari muscats i have no idea
this would have worked with...say...Rina and Mui lol

Hello everyone. This is my first post here! I live in Argentina and became an Ebisu Muscats fan thanks to this thread so after a while I decided to join. I know is a bit late since the show has sadly ended but still I wanted to say hi. I only watched the final season, though.
Oh, and BTW, my favorite Muscat is Airi Nagasaku  :)2

I want one of those!

Well, my japanese knowledge is rather basic (just like my english, I'm still learning). As far I know, the word chimei (地名) means "a place". Basically, he is saying: Kintamaani is a place located in Indonesia.

Thanks for posting this. Ogi's constant flirting with Rio was something I enjoyed from the early days. It dropped off a lot after the series changed from Onegai to Onedari, to the point where you only kind of saw it during Kawaii Koshien.

I can't hear that well
He's trying to get the girls to say something dirty, since idols have the 'pure' image they have to maintain. They mention that Kintamani is the name of a place in Indonesia. It's also the name of a race horse in this case, but it sounds a lot like 'kintama' (testicles). So when Ogi has them say 'Kintamani', he has them add things like 'cute Kintamani', 'dirty Kintamani', 'sweaty, stinky Kintamani', and 'want to lick Kintamani' which is where Yahagi hits him with the fan

I'm probably not gonna be bumping this in my car anytime soon, but the short version PV of Rio's "I'm Sexy" is now online. I'm digging the bob cut.

Edit: I found the full version, which you can watch here.

Welcome welcome PhantomJin! :welcome
Here on the Muscats board we do our best to keep the Muscats legacy alive. Anything you find with the Muscats is always welcome to post.
No one has stated Nagasaku Airi as a favorite (I think? not sure) so you're the first! I agree with initial, she's cute tho.
But I hope you like Kuriyama Mui because lord have mercy you are gonna be seeing a lot of her while I'm here :P

I can't unhear Hatsune Miku...I'm sorry
But this song is not even close to Rio's other two: Say You Love Me and Platinum Venus. Both better imo

However, there's also another reason why I posted the OgiYagi video with Shiraishi Mai and Kojima Haruna. And it has to do with the "faces of the franchise".
While the Muscats were still running, there were clear indicattors as to who the faces of the franchise were. Like, if this woman left the Muscats, they would not be the same even if you tried adding in new members. AKB48 and Nogizaka46 have this same problem. When Maeda Atsuko graduated, the franchise was never the same. Now with AKB48, once Kojima Haruna graduates, the franchise won't even look the same since she, at leas tin my opinion, is the franchise face of AKB48. Same with Nogizaka46; if Shiraishi Mai graduates from that franchise, there's going to be a tough time trying to replace her. With the Muscats, you had your fair share of women who came and left (Mizuki Uruha, Kirihara Erika, Ohashi Sayoko, Fujiura Megu, etc.). But some of them couldn't exactly be replaced. By 2013, it was safe to say Kishi Aino, Yoshizawa Akiho, Aoi Sola and Rukawa Rina were the "faces of the franchise", yet you could argue that they could be replaced if you found someone willing enough to take the same job (for example Sakuragi Rin was gone due too health concerns, but by the end, did you notice that she was gone or did Rina take up all the spotlight for the "kawaii" girl of the group?). I think what I'm trying to say is, you couldn't replace Rio and expect someone else to fill her shoes. The only woman who I think could have come close was Ozawa Maria, but she came and left real quick. Yes, Rio was never the Muscat's captain through those five years. But the captain isn't necessarily the most important member.

Rio wasn't just the face of the franchise. She was the franchise.

Rio wasn't just the face of the franchise. She was the franchise.

I agree. That actually reminds me of the episode where Akipi-sensei (apparently he's a parody of AKB’s producer) told her to announce that she was graduating - choosing her do that bit had the most shock value because she was undoubtedly the most important member. She was kind of that perfect combination of looks and capability; attractive enough to draw in fans and capable enough to handle pretty much anything that the show’s staff threw at her (though she did have a reputation of relying too much on cue cards). There are a lot of pretty girls in the group, but I think it’s her capability that makes her the most irreplaceable member. Given how important she was, it’s kind of surprising that she was never the leader. But I think that position had more to do with how well one gets along with the rest of the group, and Rio was known for being kind of difficult to get close to.

In terms of importance, my top 5 would probably go like this:

1. Rio
2. Asami Yuma - like Rio, a capable, fearless performer
3. Acky - she’s a lot more limited, but she’s established, popular, and her character is unique.
4. Rukawa Rina - I feel like if OneMasu had continued for a few more years, Rina would be in the same position as Acky and Rio considering the way she was being favored in Kawaii Koshien, etc.
5. Kasumi Kaho  - The Muscats’ mastermind, Maccoi Saito, is known for being kind of a scary, sadistic dude, which often manifests itself in the show’s humor. It’s the show’s fuel and Kaho is usually an easy target due to her strong personality. She’s also the group’s strongest comedic performer. Despite not being one of the featured members, I think she’s an important presence.

Anyway, I found a couple of unfortunate Muscats-related news items recently. Rion announced that Clears will be disbanding at the end of the year. In her blog, she says that the lineup was too unstable - she’s the only remaining original member after going through 5 lineup changes and 11 other members over almost three years. There are apparently other Clears units in Nagoya, Kawagoe, and Kumamoto that will remain, but Tokyo Clears is done. Their last concert is set for December. Mui also announced that Through Skills is in danger of dissolving. Their survival depends on the success of their concert on 12/8. They have other events scheduled afterwards but those could be canceled depending on how the 12/8 concert goes. It’s rough out there for an idol  :(

Yeh not a huge fan of Rio's new song. It's like, there's so many layers, especially in the chorus, that it's hard to take it all in lol.

The only woman who I think could have come close was Ozawa Maria, but she came and left real quick.

Oh I don't know about that. Like you said, she wasn't in to too long for us to judge but Maria never really gave off the impression that she was front line material like Rio. I dunno, at least Rio looks a bit nicer, more accessible and open to trying things out. For all the talk of Rio being difficult, I can easily see Maria being much harder to work with. But that's just based off my impressions. Also, Rio's features is just easier suited to market, she's more....'kawaii', I guess. Again, just my opinion.

In terms of importance, my top 5 would probably go like this:

1. Rio
2. Asami Yuma - like Rio, a capable, fearless performer
3. Acky - she’s a lot more limited, but she’s established, popular, and her character is unique.

Would be hard to argue with that list. Certainly the holy trinity of Rio/Acky/Yuma is the easiest draw to the group. But let's also not forget Sola, who's easily the most popular AV actress across Asia. That would certainly be a big draw. Also shouts out to Shou as well. Working quietly in the background but a supposed big sister type role to other members of the Muscats and showing up on the show with some funny material.

Thank you for the information, PhantomJin & illnerdism. I didn't think that the translation will be like that.
And now I really want that OneMasu comes up with english subtitle per episode so, maybe, I can get jokes like this.

The only woman who I think could have come close was Ozawa Maria, but she came and left real quick.
Oh really? Maria Ozawa was in the roster of EbiMasu?
I did read that Maria was on the list, but I never see her sing or dance with the other members (or appear in Onedari / Onegai). Is it because she was there and graduated in the EbiMasu's first year?

Anyway, I found a couple of unfortunate Muscats-related news items recently. Rion announced that Clears will be disbanding at the end of the year. That must be hard for them. Some idol groups disband because they have problem. Meanwhile, EbiMasu which is still at their top of success, chose to disband at their (maybe the producer's) will. Oh boy, maybe it's too hard for me to understand entertainment world..  :?

In terms of importance, my top 5 would probably go like this:

1. Rio
2. Asami Yuma - like Rio, a capable, fearless performer
3. Acky - she’s a lot more limited, but she’s established, popular, and her character is unique.

Yeah, me too would agree with those names. But, what if, aside from the list, there're 2 or 3 girls who have potential to be on that list too? Names like Hana, Anna, Saemi, Yui, Yuria and others are 'hidden' just because they don't have enough camera-time? What do you think guys?  :D

Oh, just to recall, I like this episode too (even I only understand a liiiiitle bit of the show). Back in that day, this made me laugh in the midnight, especially the head-whacking janken.

I should probably have phrased it better. What I meant is that Rio is known for being kind of aloof, which is why she probably wouldn't have made a good leader. From interviews I've heard with the other members, they all say she's actually very friendly.

Good call on Shou. I originally had Sora at #4, and looking at all of the promotional materials (album/DVD covers, etc) she's definitely billed as the #4. But looking at it from the production side, she obviously wasn't deemed important enough to make the move from Onedari to Choito. They waited until DX to bring her back along with minor 2nd-gen members like Yamaguchi and Ogura. And once she did come back, she was mostly relegated to being picked on, kind of like Kaho, though I think Kaho has better comedy chops. Which is a shame, because Aoi seemed to me to be the group's best leader due to her strong, assertive personality. Maybe she played a larger role behind-the-scenes? I don't doubt that she probably was the de facto leader during the nationwide tour when Kishi wasn't around.

She actually disappeared quietly within the first 2-3 episodes along with several other girls. I don't think she spoke once.

Of the ones you named, maybe Yuria had a chance at cracking the Top 10. She was just so ... unique. I think Saemi had the potential for being a mid-tier member like Ogawa and Hatsune if she had more confidence. She's powerfully dim and I always thought she was fun to watch. Rion, on the other hand, has the kind of confidence where I think she would force the camera to focus on her. The other girls, like Oshikawa, Anjo, Haruna, Yui, et al. seemed too timid speak up and didn't seem to know what to do once they were on camera. If the show continued, I feel like they would have either remained bottom-tier or would have graduated in favor of new girls. What do you guys think?

Shouts out to Yuria as well. Another big sister type character backstage and you knew you were gonna get a big reaction from everyone else when the camera was on her.

I hoped Jessica would get more camera time, seems like the only memorable time I have of her was when Rina smacked her across the head with the slipper.

After 2 votes on Yuria, I think I'll vote for her too since she makes everybody laugh for almost everything she did on the stage, but she barely has enough time to do that.
Maybe I can vote for Nanako too, since she's physically beautiful, but, lack of confidence when she's in front of camera.

Well, the first picture has too much cuteness in it.
And Sayama with that hairstyle..  :inlove:

Well, good for you, it's too expensive for me to buy, the item itself plus the shipping cost.  :smhid
I wish I can watch EbiMasu's last show (or last 2 shows).
