Chapter 100 “Are you sure you don’t mind staying here?” Eri asked, uneasy. “We could still go to the square, if you want…”
“Eri, I already told you that I don’t mind staying indoors,” Reina laughed, pulling her girlfriend down to the couch next to her. “If you think it’s too cold out, then it’s too cold out.”
“Somehow, I really hate it when you do everything my way,” the turtle grumbled. However, her actions contradicted her words as she tried to pry the yankii’s arms from her sides to place it around her own shoulders. Reina chuckled as she obliged to her lover’s wishes.
“Staying like this in your house is okay too,” the singer sighed. “Just watching TV with a cup of hot cocoa… it’s still kind of romantic.”
“It’s romantic because we’re together,” Eri giggled at her own cheesy line. She snuggled closer to the younger girl who rolled her eyes.
“I think Ai is rubbing off on you,” Reina groaned.
“Is she now…” Eri wondered, smiling.
The two girls cuddled together in Eri’s couch, watching the TV that showed the streets of Tokyo, live. Every store was decorated in red and green lights, along with a giant Christmas tree in the middle of the square. Suddenly, Reina gasped out loud and started to panic.
“What time is it?” she quickly asked.
“Um… 11:55, why?”
“Then I’m not late yet!”
Reina slightly pulled away from her girlfriend and started to dig through her jean pockets. She took out a lighter with one hand and a piece of origami paper that was folded into a heart with the other. Eri raised an eyebrow.
“What’s that?” she questioned.
“Just watch,” Reina grinned.
She brought the lighter to the heart and lit it on fire. The blaze of heat engulfed the entire origami paper. Eri gasped, worried that her girlfriend may burn herself. But somewhere along the line, the heart paper burned up and a different piece of paper drifted down into Reina’s other hand with the disappearance of the flames. The yankii unfolded the paper and held it up for Eri to see. The turtle squinted and started to read.
“Tanjoubi Omedetou, Eri…” she mumbled. Then, she gasped as her eyes widened. “What day is it today?”
“It’s three minutes before December 23rd officially ends,” Reina laughed. “What, did you forget your own birthday?”
“Well, I’ve been preoccupied with this whole event so…” Eri said, blushing. “But you knew! How did you know?”
“Risa told me,” Reina grinned. “She more like threatened me; she made it very clear that she will never forgive me if I don’t do something for your birthday.”
“That’s my Risa-chan,” Eri laughed. “Well, thank you for remembering, Reina-chan.”
“Oh, I’m not done yet,” the yankii said. “Watch.”
She brought the lighter to the piece of paper again and lit it on fire. It seemed as though the flames would get bigger but instead, it flicked off at one point as something silver dropped down from Reina’s hand. Eri gasped as she stared at the silver chain. Her eyes traveled down to the charm that was dangling at the end.
“It’s a key!” she exclaimed.
“And it’s yours, if you want.”
“A key… for what?”
“To my home.”
“The High-Queen dorms?”
“No, not exactly,” Reina laughed. “At the beginning of next year, I’m moving out. I got my own place in a different apartment. This is the second key to my new place.”
“It’s like a spare?” Eri asked.
“No, I have a different spare,” the yankii mumbled. She looked down a little and started to scratch the back of her neck a little. “I was thinking… well… it’s
my new place but… it could be
your place too… if you want.”
“You mean… live together?”
“Yeah… I mean… if you want, that is. I’m sure Risa wouldn’t mind and all… So if you want, it can be your home too.”
“Reina-chan!”
As the yankii looked up, she was immediately attacked by her girlfriend who hugged her so tightly, it nearly cut off her air circulation. Reina laughed and embraced the turtle back.
“Yes, I want to be with you!” Eri yelled, laughing. “I want to see you every single day; I want to be a bigger part of your life!”
“And I yours,” Reina grinned.
At that moment, a loud music started to play from the TV. A big animated Christmas tree came up on the screen with the words of holiday greetings. The clock had struck twelve.
“Merry Christmas Eve, baby,” the younger girl whispered.
“Merry Christmas Eve, Reina-chan,” Eri murmured back.
They slowly leaned in closer until their lips met. They kissed over and over again, more passionately each time, to celebrate a new beginning for the both of them.
** ** **
“So tell me again why we’re walking the streets of Tokyo at midnight,” Risa stuttered.
“Because we’ve never had a proper date,” Ai grinned. “Every single time we try to go out, I always get recognized.”
“That’s true…” Risa mumbled, remembering the time her girlfriend was discovered twice by the fans at the amusement park. “So how is today different from any other days?”
“Because it’s Christmas Eve,” Ai explained, turning to look at her girlfriend walking next to her. “There are over a hundred couples out tonight, and none of them care enough to spot me. They’re all too busy looking at their own beautiful lover, like me.”
“Stop that,” the bean laughed, turning away a little from Ai’s staring.
“So let me ask you one thing,” the leader said, her fingers tightly wrapped around her girlfriend’s hand in side her coat pocket. “Did you enjoy singing tonight?”
“I would’ve fainted on stage if you didn’t come out then,” Risa laughed, remembering herself freezing up during the interlude. “But overall, it felt good to sing again. I mean, I still love it, you know?”
“But you still don’t want to be a singer?”
“Not really,” Risa sighed. “It
was my original dream so it might be nice… but I’m happy with who I am right now. I’m happy writing songs for you and Reina, and I’m happy with making sample recordings only. I like it enough that I don’t want to leave it behind.”
“I would’ve really loved to sing with you in public,” Ai sighed, smiling. “But I guess it’s still your choice. And I’ll respect it.”
“Thanks, Ai-chan,” the bean grinned.
“So, is there anything you want to do in particular tonight?” the idol asked.
“Not really— no, wait, there is!” the younger girl exclaimed, beaming. “Come on, I wonder if it’s still open!”
Before the singer could ask where they were going, Risa pulled her quickly through the streets, trying to avoid crashing into people as much as possible. Soon, they stopped in front of a brightly lit store; the bean smiled.
“It’s still open!” she squealed excitedly. “I guess it’s because it’s a self-serve place!”
“Where are we?” Ai asked.
“Come on!”
Risa pulled her girlfriend into the small store. It was just one room with various lights flashing around. The walls were lined up with multiple booths. The couple could see other people’s feet inside the booth underneath the curtains.
“A Purikura place?” Ai gasped. “I haven’t been to one of these in a really long time…”
“Remember how you and I don’t have a picture together from when we were little, and I couldn’t remember your face?” Risa smiled. “Well, I’m never going to let that happen again.”
The two girls then picked their own booth and slid into the seats. Risa quickly picked out a Christmas background and some glitters for decorations.
“Ready?” she asked.
“Whenever you are,” Ai grinned.
“Okay, then,” Risa said, putting her hand on top of the green button to take the picture. “Smile!”
“Risa!”
“Huh?”
The bean turned her head towards the older girl as her hand pressed down on the button. Her eyes widened as her lips were met with a different warmth, a different softness. A flash of light exploded, indicating that the picture was taken. A strip of sticker pictures came out of the slot. The two girls looked at the purikura and smiled; Risa blushed as she lightly hit her girlfriend’s shoulders as a pay back for her joke, while Ai just laughed. They were just small pictures, but it had captured all of their love and happiness that would last forever.

That's it!
Kokoro no Uta has officially come to an end.
I would like to thank all of my readers, lurkers or not. It was all of you who kept me going all these weeks and months!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this story as much as I loved writing it. I didn't expect to have so many readers, considering it was my first fic, but I'm very grateful for all the comments and feedbacks!!!

As for me, I will most definitely continue writing; it's what I love to do.

And for the poll results...
As you can all see, TakaGaki and TanaKame are tied. It was tied like that when the poll got locked (how does that even happen?)

But I believe TanaKame got the deciding vote first before TakaGaki. And I flipped a coin three times too, and I still got TanaKame so...
...My next fic will feature TanaKame as the main

But TakaGaki will still be there, so please support me!

I'm not sure about what's happening with the other members yet, but I'm brainstorming (which usually doesn't take that long).
But for now, i'm wondering whether I should do a schoolgirl-fic or a fic with all the member's original ages

I'm not sure when I'm going to start my new fic, but it could be as early as tomorrow (seriously)

once again, thank you everyone for reading my fic! I hope you all enjoyed it~~~
