Saitama Prefectural Police arrested a woman on suspicion of violating the immigration law but later released her after discovering she is a Japanese national, police officials said Monday.

I think the police did the right thing. The woman refuse to tell them anything but she's japanese. I wouldn't let anyone go just because she looks like japanese person.

It's kinda hard to recognize chinese with japanese. Given the fact that some provinces in China have very japanese looking men and women.
