I didn't know Bugs was owned by Mnet. Melon is owned by Loen, though, who also owns JYP, IIRC.

The members revealed in a recent interview that Tiffany and Yuri had to battle one another in order to get their lyrics included in the album. The members stated, “They both battled until the very end, although Yuri won. Yuri’s lyrics about a heart breaking crush must’ve fit better with the song than Tiffany’s lyrics about never ending love.”

Yuri stated, “I’ve always wanted to personally contribute to the album. Lyrics that I had already written up fit well with our new song, so it was a great chance and opportunity. It was very different watching us perform a song that I wrote, as it almost made me choke up.”

When asked whether her lyrics stem from personal experience, Yuri shook her head before answering, “I have a habit of writing down things on a memo while reading. These lyrics were influenced by some notes I took from a book.”

Member Tiffany added, “I like writing as well. Should I receive another opportunity, I will take it and go with something stronger.”

The remaining members expressed their desire to participate in their next album production as well. Taeyeon has been busily studying about writing music, while Seohyun has been taking lessons on jazz piano.

The group claimed that their goal was to produce an album with nine different songs written and composed by each of them. The title track will be decided by a game of rock, paper, scissor.

I hope they'll continue to give the girls opportunities to write and compose their own songs for future releases.

I don't know if it's owned or just affiliated in some way. I remember reading it somewhere, there were a few interesting articles on the big Korean conglomerates, all the underlying connections in the industry, SMs rivalry with CJ ect. ect.

I never knew about this until tonight...

This is Cyworld's digital chart. Notice how the mp3 buttons are gray? Apparently, mp3 is not available to download on Cy, and that seems to be the case with all SM artists. It's probably the deal between SM and Cyworld. I thought it was already hard for SM groups to lead in digital points since they usually did worse than groups from other labels but they made up in CD sales, but now it's even harder since they're not on Mnet chart and they will never do good on Cy since there's no mp3 to download. Sometimes I think SM doesn't care that much about awards, money means more, of course. Fans have to work harder because awards mean bragging right

. Being idol fans is hard work and requires lots of money.

SM is about the money and they can make a little more by doing their own distribution. It might be short sighted as far as awards and some other things like opportunities in movies and dramas go because of the influence CJs has there. In the long run they will probably have to cave just because CJ/Mnet are so huge in the entertainment industry compared to SM. Even with how SM has been raking in money hand over fist the last couple years.

And they have had all kinds of problems with MP3 steaming being borked. People were complaining during Genie but I guess they lost like 10-15% sales off some of the digital charts because of it. Another thing I never understood is why SM blocks the MVs on Youtube from showing up in the searches or any of the most viewed/recommendation lists. Seems like you can only find videos by being linked to it.

Hmmm, I never knew about the youtube searching thing since I subscribed to their channel. But if the vid is unlisted, it won't show up on subscription list anyway, so maybe it's the keywords? I knew that SM didn't put "SNSD" in Hoot's tags at first but they did after fans were talking and now it shows up on my search just fine.

I always typed in "sment" which is what the channel is called. and all the videos from sm entertainment.
