@oddy yes needed the action

Chapter 17

Three months passed by with no incident as Reina and Aika lived together with Tomo always by their side.  Sayumi, who was a thorn to Reina, decided to live across of the active couple and would immediately become a parasite to the new couple.  However, that changed with an explosion in the alleyway.

“Aika, did you hear that?”  Reina looked outside at the fire.

Aika looked outside and the fire grew larger until it formed into a woman.  Reina instantly saw her eyes glow in the midday light.  She looked up and saw the two faces looking at her as she walked by still with her concentration on them.  Sayu came rushing in with a stack of papers in her hands and left it on the table for the duo.  Reina tilted her head at the results waiting for an explanation as Aika pulled each page from the pile.

“Arghhh, what is the point, bunny?”  Reina yelled in frustration.

“That flame you saw had been coming for the past week, I thought it was a meteorite but when it developed a human figure, I needed to find the gender and where it was coming from....”

“So, get to the point.”  Reina interrupted.

“The fireball came from a B planet outside of solar system and she has enough power to eliminate the world.”  Sayu concluded her report.

“Thanks, Sayu, so what are we going to do?”  Aika asked.

Sayu took a seat with the information in the papers as Tomo, who just had woken up from the explosion, walked over to Aika for comfort.  Sayu looked over the stack of papers and found a clue to who she might be.  It was a chart of her vital signs and Sayu felt the chill run down her spine.

“Sayu what's wrong?”  Aika asked.

“She is way too powerful for both of you to take on, we may need a big team to take her down, but how can we get people without being noticed?”  Sayu began to venture into her own world as Reina drew her own answer.  She got up and walked toward the door but Sayu threw a spoon at her to catch her attention.

“Hey!  Well we need people right?”  Sayu bit down on her lower lip.

“Yes, but I think there is a way but we need Kamei's uncle to conduct the experiment and we need to monitor them from deviating from our control.”  Reina took a moment to understand Sayu's words.

“What is the plan?  Do we need to contact Kamei's uncle?”  Sayu smiled as there was a knock at the door.

“Hello my new colleagues.”  The older man smirked and dragged in a suitcase.

He unzipped the suitcase to reveal a laptop and a small book.  He was quick to set up his station and downloaded a list of people eligible for the experiment.  As he kept himself busy, the three of them began to plan out their situation.  It had been obvious since the doctor three months ago took control of the local gangs in the hunt for Reina, however it was a way for him to retaliate against them.  As a precaution, they needed to see him in prison.

Sayu and Reina jumped onto the next bus to the outskirts of Tokyo, where he was being held, and after a quick ride, they arrived by the sea.  They walked up to the entrance to find a woman in front of them, guarding the front.

“Sorry, we are officially not allowing visitors at this time.”  She said in a stern voice.

“I see, we need to speak to Dr. Yamamoto.”  Sayu asked as the guard picked up her walkie talkie.

The guard moved to the side and the doctor appeared from the shadow in front of them.  He was in a blue jumpsuit with a cigarette hanging from his mouth and letting out a puff of smoke.  Sayu took the lead and turned toward the conference room as he followed them with his guard.  He was in shackles and the loud noises irritated Reina as they all entered into the room since the battle.

“I heard about the explosion.”  He let out another puff of smoke towards them.

“We know that but we need to ask.”  Reina grasped onto her chair as he let out a snicker.

“It wasn't me, but I knew it would happen, reason why I wanted to stall the experiment.”  Sayu wrote down the notes from their conversation.

“The powers were an indicator of danger and anyone caught using it gives off a signal to indicate that someone is threatening their livelihood and interest on Earth.  However, in a myth I had researched on, a champion shall save the world.”  The two women nodded.

“Is that all?”  The guy took another puff from his cigarette.

“One more question, the champion is supposedly male right?”  The guy nodded.

“The one we got in our readings is female.”  The doctor dropped his cigarette to the ground.

He felt the chill in the air and his body stiffened up, he didn't know about the second half of the story as his partner was responsible for it but it was a shock from his own research.  The guy wrote down a name and Reina looked at Sayu weirdly.  Sayu looked at the name and nodded her head.

“Find him and he'll answer the question.”  The guard took him out of the room and left the two ladies in the room pondering over the name.

Reina followed Sayu out and took out her cell phone, she carefully dialed the number and held it close to her.  Sayu patiently waited for the other side to pick up but it was sent to voice mail as their next stop would be the university.  They ran back to the return train and ventured back to the city as they both were drowsy from the exhausting trip.  Luckily it was a short trip that they could visit the guy the doctor mentioned about.

It was close to the 9 P.M. that both got off and ran toward the university with all they had left and saw a tall man locked the gate as Sayu bend over in front of him.

“Sayu-chan, we meet again.”  Sayu nodded unexpectedly and fell over in exhaustion.

@oddy yups with more twists as usual

Chapter 18

“Who are you?”  Reina looked up at him as he rubbed his bare chin.

“Dr. Hiroyama, nice to meet you, little one.”  Reina slanted her eyes in disgust.

“Hey... I need your help.”  Sayu trying to catch the man's attention.

“Okay, so tell me what is up baby~”  Sayu turned away as Reina lifted her fist up to his face.

He stood tall looking over the kitty and pushed her fist down to her waist as he looked over at Sayu and grabbed her hand.  Sayu pulled it away quickly as he looked to find a place to meet.  He quickly saw the cafe and signaled them over to the place.

As they arrived a girl bowed toward them and took them to the booth.  The waitress took their order and walked away giving them time to talk.  The doctor took out his laptop and showed a picture of Sayu hiding away from the camera before listening to their request.

“Okay, your partner said you know the second part of the myth.”  Reina put her hand on top of the laptop slamming his fingers in them.

“There is a supernatural being that can track the use of powers, Kamei was theorizing if someone was to come, they would track down the person's location.”  Reina let his fingers go as he held it close to him.

Sayu looked over at Reina and gave her a nod as he opened up a paper on the idea that he had been working on before Kamei's death.  After her death, it was a hard push because he needed information on the powers that were out there.  Sayu, who was her partner, had decided on being the glue to the research but Kamei refused the idea.

However, Sayu had fallen deeply in love and went out with him and gave him no help at all for their research.  He broke up with her the day before the accident leaving him as a suspect but with the camera in the lab, the police were convinced it wasn't him.  Then, as his partner became mad with the information and the vial, he stood back and watched him take control.  It left him with the embarrassment of the whole situation.

The story made Reina understood why Eri had become less informative on the condition that she had taken.  It made her concerned and the accident only made it worst as it was the owner of the information.  He thoroughly explained the the myth to them and gave the duo the information they needed.

“Here's the coffee, sorry for the wait.”  The waitress bowed as she went back to the kitchen.

“So, since we all are on the same page, I am curious about what is out there.”  Sayu scratched her head as she only had a few that were proven.

“Time, fire, and mind control.”  Sayu said under her voice.

“Wait a moment, there is more right?”  Sayu nodded.

“Wind, water, and earth.”  The doctor nodded in agreement.

“The elements are the hardest to determine success.”  Sayu nodded again leaving Reina out of the conversation and the kitty jumped at the opportunity.

“My friend developed fire.”  Sayu tilted her head as the guy's eyes widened.

The guy looked through his paper as quick as he could and found a paragraph about the natural occurrence of possessing such elemental power.  He read through it and he was taken back with the research.

“Explain!”  Reina yelled.

“The possession of elements usually mean that it is close to each other to make every place in balance, the being is after the elements to over power the other two.  The mind control and time are no match to the elemental power of all four.”  Sayu and Reina looked at each other in surprise.

“I think I have given all the information I collected in my research so is that all?”  Both nodded as they put their share for the drinks.

“I still have your number Yu... to... kun~”  The guy fell over as Reina walked away shaking her head.

The duo walked out into the night as the town slowly turned into a ghost town.  They walked back to the train station where they had time to kill for the next train.  Sayu kept her attention to the spot on the ground as Reina kept herself in the moment of worrying for her friend.

“Reina... do you miss Eri?”  Sayu said with a soft voice.

“Of course I do, but I want to protect Aika now, she is our concern for now.  Eri will give us the answers as we go along because of you.”  Sayu nodded.

“Eri once said that she knew you were a good person and I didn't believe her until I met you again and saved Aika and Tomo from the mad doctor.  You make me feel comfortable like how Eri was, I know that me and you cannot be in love but I want you to accept me as a close friend.”  Sayu bowed toward her.

Reina held her head up and gave her a strong hug as the train arrive at the station.  Reina dragged Sayu back onto the train as they traveled back to the city.  Reina spent the night up as Sayu slept next to her with no problem.  Reina liked looking at the stars at night as she dreamed about being normal again but acknowledging her powers comforted her.  She closed her eyes for a bit and realized it was close to their stop and she was left to stay up with the little energy she had left.

“Reina, you didn't sleep.”  Sayu noted as it pulled into their stop.

“Yeah, just had a good dream that I needed to keep alive.”  Reina and Sayu got off the train and saw a badly damaged store.

Reina noticed the damage were made by a strong person as the wood was cleanly broken in half and the metal pipes were bent perfectly in a 45 degree angle.  Sayu walked in and found a person lying there lifeless as the people stood around him.  Before any spoke, Reina picked up the plank and the blood oozed from it.

“Sayu, this is bad.”  Reina showed her the plank and Sayu agreed with the statement.

You're back with this!  :)

“Thanks, Sayu, so what are we going to do?”  Aika asked.

I dunno why, but this made me lol unexpectedly. I think its the culmination of your portrayal of a genius Sayu and her intellectual reports. Perhaps I projected RL Sayu and Aika and it made me giggle imagining a serious Sayu spewing out facts and then Aika responding in her calm deadpan voice.

Interesting twist so far.

@oddy just the twists and turns into the next part

@gracula yes, I had a choice between crack pervs or supernatural or suppressed love, I guess two out of three ain't bad :nervous

Chapter 19

The two looked through the disaster area and picked up the splinters from the store.  Sayu kept the evidence in the plastic bag as they walked back into the city.  It was eerily quiet for the late afternoon and moments later, the explosion came from behind, the duo turned and saw the dumpster on fire.  They ran over to the apartment seeing Aika and Tomo on the couch staring at the television.

“Reina, someone has been attacking the city while you were gone, however it disappeared after the attack on the store.”  Aika explained as Reina pointed outside to the dumpster.

“That being knows we are here, which means we are running out of time, so we need volunteers quick.”  Sayu said with a concerned look on her face.

It was a weird situation for them to understand, they could fight the being without help but underestimating its power would cause drastic consequences.  The timing was also bad for them as the people they needed were probably hiding.  Reina only knew the two next to them but to sacrifice their lives would be risky, but knowing Sayu, she would risk for the sake of the world.  Reina ran over with her sleep bomb and punched a hole into the neighbor's door and knocked out the couple.

Saki and Miya dropped to the ground and were dragged out by Sayu and Reina and brought back into their room.  Sayu sat them up as they received a small injection of the vial, they instantly woke up to find Reina and Sayu hovering over them.  Saki and Miya each gave a concerned look before feeling the effects of the shot.

“You injected us with something, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!”  Miya yelled as Sayu pressed her body on top of her.

“Urusai!  We need your help, can you just play along for once?”  Reina crossed her arms as Sayu lifted herself off Miya and Saki trying to shake Miya from her trance.

Reina and Sayu followed the couple outside and instantly the being appeared in front of them, it shot a laser toward them knocking them off their feet.  Miya threw out an ice shard from her hand and deflected off it.  Saki pounded the ground to make the earth shake below it and knocking the being to the ground.  The being countered with its vines trapping Saki and Miya blew a snowstorm at the vines, freezing it instantly.

“They are putting up a good fight.”  Reina cheered them on as Sayu became discouraged.

“We gotta pull them out....”  Sayu mumbled as the being grew angry.

The being drew back everything and sat down whispering words under its breath as the couple looked at each other an charged towards it.  Reina panicked and paused the scene, the couple was frozen  but the being was speeding up its chant.  Reina dragged the two out of the way and back into the alley before the darkness came upon them.  The group ran back into the building as the black hole took a car into the abyss.

“Whoa, what was that?”  Miya exclaimed as Sayu gave both the cure to the vial.

“That is the new threat in town.”  Sayu said as they stood up and tried the moves again with no success.

“It didn't seem powerful, we could have beaten it, nee Miya-chan~”  Saki looked at her partner as Sayu sat both of them down again.

“The being was toying with you guys, it knows about Reina and Aika being here, but we cannot defeat it while it is at its infant stage.”  The two gave confused looks at Sayu.

“Sayu is trying to say that the time it has been here, it has been adapting to life in the town, I am not sure if it has developed strong feelings yet but we cannot fight it while it is growing stronger.”  Reina laughed as Sayu nodded at every word she was saying.

“So, you wanted us to test out a theory?”  Miya asked as Sayu slowly nodded.

“I see, you guys really don't need us.”  Aika stopped them two from walking out.

“We need everyone, it can't be won by us, if Sayu and Reina were not needy, they wouldn't have knocked you out.”  Aika explained as both gave a smirk before walking back into their apartment.

They started to feel the chill again as the city was becoming a wasteland every second they didn't fight back.  However, the energy it was using was getting higher at every attack and the rapid attacks were a good sign of weakness.  The timing was still a while away as Sayu stayed in the cave watching its energy and aging progressing through the night.  Aika and Tomo had decided to play in the other room, leaving Reina alone in the apartment.

It was unusually quiet as the attacks stopped and Reina looked outside as the being withdrew its powers and changed into a woman.  She seemed to be about Sayu's height and replicated a shapely lady, Reina pressed her face against the window as it turned toward her.  After a few minutes of staring, the woman fell onto the pavement.

The kitty ran down to the streets and carried her into the lobby as she began to scream in pain, Reina saw the dark matter escape her body, and disappeared into the carpet.  Sayu saw them in the lobby and look at her as she slowly opened her eyes.

“What happened?  Why am I here?”  She quickly got up and looked around before taking a seat.

“First, you had some dark matter in you and it finally came out of you.”  Reina explained as the woman began to gain back her consciousness.

“That seems weird, I need to go home, my girlfriend is worried about me.”  Sayu took out her blood kit and got a fresh sample from the woman.  Sayu instructed her to write down her name and took it down into her book.

“Sudou... Maasa...”  Sayu said to herself.

“That black matter.... we need to find it.”  Reina said to Sayu as she began to think and feared for the next victim.

Sayu and Reina ran up to the apartment to find the doors locked and the matter formed into the human form again but it was a shell.  Sayu felt something in her and struck down the matter back into slime form as it slithered away from them and fell through the cracks of the building.  Sayu ran back to Aika's room and saw the two playing with each other.  Reina dove into the couch to go off on her little cat nap as Sayu dragged herself back into the cave for testing.

Chapter 20

Maasa began her long walk back to her apartment, which was unfortunately across town, as she looked around at the burnt stores around town.  It seemed unusual for her to not notice most were places that she liked.  As she got to the final block, a familiar person was around the corner, and she was gleeful that she was still there.

“Maa-chan, where were you?”  She asked with a familiar high pitch.

“I was hanging out with the gang again.”  Maasa said in a soft voice.

“MAA~ you got to stop, you have me now, I know they are your best friends but...”  She paused for a bit.

“I know, it will be the last time.”  Maasa looked around before asking the burning question.

“What happened, Momo-chan?”  She took a deep breath before explaining.

Maasa felt compelled that the damage was caused by a dark figure who destroyed the are with its fireball and burning all the store down in its path.  Momo showed the only place that was still standing because she was there and the only damage was the freezer.  Maasa felt something weird inside and squatted down to thank Momo for being safe while she was away.

At that moment, there was a shaking of the earth, and Maasa grabbed the peach over to a safe place as it slowly went back into a standstill.  They both ran back into the apartment and picked up the books that fell from the shelf.  As they finished, an aftershock came and knocked both of them down to the ground.  Then, both blacked out when the shelf fell upon them.

Sayu came running from the lab with a long piece of paper filled with coding, she saw the disheveled kitty, and took a seat next to her.  Sayu circled the paper with a red pen.

“Very simple.  The quake and aftershocks have opened up a hole and the black matter has become stronger.”  Sayu explained.

Aika and Tomo came into the room and saw Sayu with a concerned look on her face.  As she explained it to them, Reina looked outside to the quiet streets.  Then, all of sudden a scream came from outside and a bright flash blinded everyone.  After a few minutes, everyone saw the damage on the street as it seemed it was peeled back.

“Sayu-chan, what happened?”  Tomo asked as they picked themselves off the floor.

“I don't know.”  Sayu rubbed her eyes and saw the road one more time before walking back into the lab.

The other three walked over to their neighbors and knocked down the door to Saki and Miya's room as they held each other on the ground.  The duo followed the group back to their apartment and sat on the couch as they recovered from the trauma of the earthquake.  Reina grew curious about the road splitting and ran down to the lobby.

“Wow, this is interesting.”  Reina saw an orange liquid flowing in the fissure.

Reina ran along the fissure and bang into an older person as he wiped himself off and nodded his head to the kitty.  Then, two young women came running up to her and dragged her into the alleyway as the men came running by.  They took her into the abandoned room and looked around their surroundings before explaining their situation.

“You are the store people, why did you guys trap me?”  They extended their arms and the black tar was slowly consuming them.

“Ah this is bad.  Follow me.”  Reina had stopped time again as they ran back to the apartment building.

Reina began to notice the population were coming from the liquid and were becoming strengthen by its goo.  She ran all the way back to Sayu, who was mentally stumped by the recent events.  Sayu saw the two and looked at their arms.  Sayu took out a spray bottle and squirted the medicine onto their skin, the black ooze fell off into a bag, and Sayu experimented in front of them.

“Thank you.”  Both bowed to the group as they were given a piece of paper.

“Write your names.”  Sayu said in a stern voice.

The duo wrote down the information and gave it off to Sayu, Tomo walked over with glasses of apple juice, and the two sat down on the chairs in the kitchen.  Reina followed Sayu down to the lab and leaving the group upstairs.  One of the two women acknowledged the little girl catching Aika's attention.

“Whose child is this?”  The woman asked.

“I am her caregiver, her mother was killed months ago and she was left in my care.”  Aika explained.

“I see, by the way I am Takahashi Ai and this is my roommate, Niigaki Risa, we are workers at the nearby store.  I never had formally introduce myself so it would be nice to learn as we are stuck together.”  Ai took a bow followed by her mate.

“I am Mitsui Aika and this is Tomo, that is Saki and Miya who live down the hall, and the other two are Sayu and Reina, they are the people who are looking into the recent developments.”  Mittsi explained as Reina came out and bowed to the people.

“You look cute.”  Ai mumbled as Aika closed her fist.

“Aika is jealous.”  Miya pointed out and caught the glaring anger in her eyes.

“Sorry, I always like cute people, reason why Niiigaki has been my roommate, even though she is a clean freak and I like to keep it a certain way.”  Ai suddenly got interrupted by Sayu who was panting from her run.

“Usagi-chan?  Why do you have to be here?”  Niigaki rolled her eyes back as Sayu kneed her forehead in frustration.

“Mame-chan always got to be the thorn, even though she never was accepted her true love.”  Sayu stung back and Risa charged toward the bunny making a fight between the two.

“Sayu, please explain before you take off her head.”  Reina pulled her back and took the paper from her.

“Human eco-matter?”  Reina thought for a while and then it hit her.

“Poop?  They had poop on their arms.”  Reina began to laugh relentlessly as Sayu ran through the paper and pointed out the effective material.

“It seems we are fighting a super power that no other can destroy.  We need to start preparing for the coming of the queen or king of their planet.”  Sayu explained as Risa just ignored the situation.

“So, what shall we do?”  Risa asked as she kept her eye contact from Sayu.

“We have to wait.”  Sayu walked back with her head down and shaking her head.

“We are facing the end of the world.”  All felt dejected with no answer within sight.

@ oddy it shall be an interesting path to the end

Chapter 21

Everyone sat around patiently with their hands on the ground waiting for the next movement to be called.  Risa and Ai were impressed with Aika in caring for Tomo, it wasn't important to the whole community on what happened but it left a huge impression on them.  The two asked Tomo questions about Aika as they tried to find more about their relationship.

Reina, who was bored of the lack of attention towards her, turned on the television.  The news was about the crack in the road.  The scientists were concerned about the liquid and hesitated to even sample the material.  Then, the cameras turned to a person with glowing red eyes and looked at the road.  It jumped in and took a swim for a meter before jumping back out and flying to the top of the building.

“Sayu!”  Reina yelled as all were watching the television as the creature looked down at the crowd.

“Reina!  What's the problem?”  Sayu paused looking at the television.

Sayu had become intrigued by the creature and how it just looked over everybody before taking a leap to the next building.  The news could not interpret the actions and just shut off the cameras to move to another location.  Reina turned it off and sat back on the couch when a noise came from the roof and the creature busted through the window.

“It's coming.”  The low tone in the voice gave away its gender.

“What's coming?”  Ai asked.

“The queen of the planet, she is angry that the powers have been misused by the humans.”  Sayu leaned back on the wall.

“Misused?  We found the formula on our own.”  Sayu leaned over to help him up.

“Yes, you guys did but Eri's uncle left it for her and Eri innocently used it in her research paper, I am here to kill him and his group.”  Everybody left the room by Reina's request and left the two against the weakened creature.

“I can't let you do that.”  Reina said sternly.  “He made a minor mistake.”

“Please, she will not come if the source is dead.”  The creature stood up and walked toward the door.

Reina charged toward him and knocked him off his feet, he threw a punch at the kitty, and she countered with a punch to his midsection.  He rolled over and screamed in pain while Reina looked at him slowly turning into a puddle.  Sayu grabbed Reina away as he disappeared from the room.

“I have failed.” His last words before going through the cracks in the floor.

The group returned back to find the creature was gone and looked over at Reina who was still in Sayu's grasp.  Risa pushed Sayu to get to Reina and before she asked what happened, Aika stepped in to clear the air.

“Reina and Sayu have been trying to find the source of all the damage to the town, Sayu has been working diligently to answer all our questions.  Risa, I know it may be frustrating but we need to seek our answers through the safety of the apartment.”  Tomo tugged on Aika's shirt.

The sky turned dark quickly and the people felt the shake of the ground, throwing them into the liquid below.  The group could only watch as the population fell in one by one, then the explosion came from the crack, the people leaped up and they were testing the powers against each other.  The lasers flew everywhere as the imagery changed to everyone using their powers recklessly.

“I guess it was a pool contaminated with the various powers.”  Sayu rubbed her chin as she pondered over the situation.

Risa held her hand on her hips as she glared over at Sayu and Ai grew concerned over what was happening.  Aika and Tomo watched along with Miya and Saki with the powers going crazy and deflecting into the hole in the apartment.  Sayu closed her eyes and took everyone into the lab to stall for the time being.  However, it seemed to bug her about the first victim.

“Reina, I have a mission.”  Sayu said under her voice.

“What is it. Sayu?”  reina replied as she handed her a slip of paper.

“I have to fine Maasa through this mess.”  Reina nodded and jumped onto the streets.

The kitty ran across the city avoiding all the elements and got to an apartment building with everything intact.  The woman outside was holding her head like she had a headache, Reina walked into the building, and quickly looked around.  Looking back down at the paper, she saw an address was scribbled down.  The woman tapped the kitty on the shoulder and peeked at the paper, she led her all the way to the room where Maasa was sitting up.

“You were the one who asked what happened to me.”  Maasa pointed out as Momo grew confused.

“What did you do, to Maa-chan?”  Momo pushed Reina to the wall.

“She was attacked by a dark matter, she does not remember when it happened, and why she was missing for a while.”  Reina explained to the peach, giving Momo a brief understanding.

“Why did she lie for?”  Maasa stood up and took the little woman to the side.

“I had to make it believable, it would have been hard to say that something attacked me, since I have been the one protecting you.”  Maasa held Momo in her arms as Reina shook her head.

“We need to go, follow me.”  Reina ran up the stairs and paused time as she held onto the two and jumped from building to building until a sharp pain hit her in the leg.  Reina fell over and looked at the person who injured her.

“Yes, I got one.”  He cheered as the kitty stood back up and punched him off the building.

“Wow, you are strong.”  Momo commented as she jumped on top Reina to be carried across to the her building.

“Momo-chan, she helped me, please be considerate.”  Momo got off and all landed on the building, then ran down to the floor they were on where the darkness was filled with lightning as a spotlight came from the distance.

“It is the coming of the queen.”  Maasa said as Sayu opened the door to the lab.
