Hihi!! it's been two weeks ever since I had posted the ending. After spending the whole two weeks trying to customise myself back to the timezone and personal alarm clock,I'm back for a reason!!  Before I go into that, let me reply some of the message left by the kind people, and of course, express my thanks to those who had thanked my chapters throughout the whole story!! Hehehehe

@ lil_hamz : You chop already nv come back -.-''' hehehehhe. did you realise it, that you had took the first comment of the prolouge and the first comment of my last chappie?? hehe, thanks for that!!! hahaha and from the crack thread, baka author (second time you scolded me -.- heheh) says sorry for lil_hamz for making her crying on the train on her way back from work while reading that one shot. . . .(it happened to me tons of times on public transport. . .so I can say, no worries!! people won't think that you're crazy!! heheheh) hehhehee

@ Bamtai : Hihi!! there's more stories out there to read!! hehehehehhehe hehehhehehehe Maybe a surprise for you after the comments part?? heheh. hopefully you would be reading this post too!!heheh . Anyway, thanks!! ^.^ heheh

@ shenlog : Maybe the first sentence will come true. . . whereas for the second . . . . er . . . .hehehe *hides away*

@ Kikk4r : Oh that! I had read it through the net. It's horrible, isn't that so?? *sighs* Was it weird?? I guessed so too .. .the two of them were way OOC as protrayed from the beginning of the story. . .I had noticed that tooo. . hahahah .Thanks for ya support too!! heheheh It was great ^.^

@ kano-chan : hehehehhe. You are welcome. . . It's to fulfil someone's request of having a happy TakaGaki. heheh, so i wrote the fluff. heheh.

Hehheeheh. Now that I am done with the replying of comments, here come the main point of this post. Not sure if Everyone will have seen it, but, I will just give it a bet ! hehe.

As you may have noticed, the title of the story has been changed, back to what it was originally used to be. heheh. Apparently. . . after rereading the whole story again, I am not satisfied with the ending. And too, having continuing on my course had constantly gave me new ideas now and then :I will still want to write inbetween my free time from now, since the workload for this semester had increased signigficantly, but still . . ..  hehhee :) So. . .Right now, I had two sets of storyline right now.

1) Being Continuing:

From where I had left it, where the story will continue to progress one

and

2) Being Change :

Where I will rewrite some of the chapters (prob somewhere around 12?? TBC), changing part of the storyline and continuing it after that..

Hehehe. And I'm lost between this two!! hehehe. If you are kind enough to tell me if which one do you prefer, It would be really GREAT!!!

Dewa, until the next time I had decided on what to write then!! heheheheh Of course, i will still pop in once in the while and reply when its's required. heheh ^.^

hmmmm hmmmmm hmmmmmmmmm

like what i said..can i have both? LOL..
i still cant choose le..
Cat & Candy..

Being change: the chp where it's kinda the turning point..and if you continue from this, mean you might not kill Haru..and the whole story might be different..Haru, Aichan, Gakisan and junko that idiot..it will be more fun to watch ritz..sadistic mode on..XD..

Being continue: AiGaki is already together..somehow, i think this will not be a happy ending if you continue from this..ahhhhh..

Maybe you can write one first? and after you finish that, then see whenever you wanna write the other one?

hmmmm...i think i will go for being change..since with Haru, we can have more cute AiGaki moments..or more gakisan trying to teach Aichan to be a mama..XD..(wont it be cute! XD)..but scarli gakisan will hate Aichan more if haru is alive..=X..and how Aichan gonna face Haru..and still Junko and Reina too..best is make Junko go bother AIchan again..and gakisan can save her..woooo..
ahhhhhhh..but i also wanna see being continue le..cos it might be a sad ending..which is suitable for sadistic ppl like me..LOL!!!

wa lau..you hor..i cant choose!!!! ahhhh..haizzzz..^^;..
give up..not choosing liao..

As for last chp..not commenting much..LOL!!!..
what happen to that idiot!!!lol..
and somehow, isnt AiGaki too fast? ^^;..i thought Aichan might have some prob being so close contact with a person cause she was rape b4.. :nervous

Whoah! That's almost an impossible choice!  XD
Well, let's see... If you change the chpaters, I have to relive the whole periode before AiRisa  But then again, it could be quite fun and delicious, depending on which kind of change you have in mind
To continue the story from where you left.. well, I really want to see how Ai-chan's and Gaki-san's relationship will develop!  BUt at the same time I'm kind of afraid that you have some evil and twisted plan to break them apart... don't know why though
It seems like I can't decide  :P Either way I'm sure it will be good because you're the one writing it!

I'd say one since I want to see their relationship progress , but then for number two... What if "this" or "that" happened?? :w00t: It's so hard to choose! :shocked I'm stuck..  :bleed eyes:

As long as there's TakaGaki lovin' and fluff, do whatever you want! :D

I replied my "chope" comment.

And gosh I didn't notice until you mentioned that I scored the first comment in prologue and final chapter. I know it's silly but I'm kinda proud about it? ^^;

Both continuing and change are very tempting and I wished us readers could have the honor of reading both. But we understand you are busy with school and all. Thus I went with my first feeling and that was change. I don't know why but I feel as though more 震撼性plots and twists/turns could be inserted and my gut tells me it would be beyond epic. Search is already epic level now and I look forward to the beyond epic stage. Ganbatte mighty author-san. No more Baka author from now on =P

I want to vote for 1, but option 2 is pretty tempting too because I was craving for some TakaGaki as mamas to Haru-chan but...
Gaaaah that choice is too difficult :bleed eyes:

Okay final choice I want option 2! (I need to find a way not to edit that post  )

Breaking them is a crime!

Ah Hi everyone!!! Sorry it took ages for me to do this  XD heheh. workload had just increase drastically for me .. . and I have been spending time, trying to visualise how should I proceed on with the story, heheheh.

Anyway, Thank you everyone who had given their opinions on what should I write for SEARCH. Like everyone, I do want to see both storyline to be out as well. . .and that's the reason for my hesitation. With majority being unable to chose >.< and 2 had voiced out that they wanted option 2, I had decided to do the change series first then! hehehe. If time allows (and provided that I do not get lazy) I will do another E (Extention) series as well. hehehe..

This first series from C is from chapter 12. Didn't really change much of the chapter. . .but I had edited bits of it on the front(which are considered a few of important clues for the planned later chapters.) heheheh . .. So lets refresh our memory then! hehehe

. [ # C12 ]

"Takahashi-san, wait up!" Reina called out after the clad figure, whose arm was slightly paralysed by the cuts she suffered moments ago.

"Ye-yes? " Ai turned around and stared at Reina with her eyes tainted with fear and shock.

"If . . .I can help that child. . . . I will . . ." Reina trailed off softly.

Ai stared wide her eyes, in shock of the younger girl's spontaneity to help, as compared to her older brother. Ai couldn't believe that the two person she met up moments ago are biological siblings.

"But in one thing . . ." Reina continued. "Even I don't like the fact that my brother had forced his ways through the things he wanted, he is still my blood brother. Papa Mama will be devastated if they had knew about this." Reina finished as she kept her eyes on her feet, ashamed of herself of her courage of asking an unreasonable request from Ai. Though she had not spoke out her request word by word, what she had said had meant everything she wanted and that did not remain undelivered to Ai.

"I understand."Ai whimpered as she tightened her grip on her left upper arm, trying to stop large volume of blood from gushing out from the numerous cuts on her lower arm. "I had no intention to mention anything to anyone. I too have a request for you. Please do not mention to anyone about tonight. You had not seen me either,"

"Eh?" Reina was confused. She could not understand why Ai had requested that from her. Just not yet to be able to understand.

Ai did not wait for any proper response from Reina. Instead, she held her bleeding arm closed to herself and turned around and away from Reina, beginning to continue her way out of the mansion.

"Takahashi-san, your arm - "

Ai turned back abruptly, causing Reina to halt in her sentence. "You don't have to worry about that. I will take care of that." Ai remained motionless for a couple of seconds. The unilluminated driveway made Reina unable to see the expression Ai had on her face. "Reina-san, Thank you. . . ." Ai bowed in a 90 degree. 'Let this be a chance for the little one, please. . . .'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I think I know the reason why, Yoshizawa-senpai . . . ." Risa mumbled almost incoherently under her breath. 'Takahashi Ai had insufficient evidence to prove that Tanaka Juncho had sexually assaulted. On the other hand, Tanaka Juncho had a number of alibis to prove that he was at the party organised by him. . . . ' The information on the folder ran repeatedly in Risa's mind. 'Rape . . . Is Haru-chan borne as the consequences of the sexual assault? If that's the case . . . Then . . . that thing . . . Tanaka Juncho . . . Tanaka Reina . . . Are they related?'

"You knew? How?" Hitomi asked curiously.

"I will tell you another day, Yoshizawa-senpai." Risa stood up from the chair abruptly and rushed towards the entrance door, ignoring Hitomi's advances for her to explain what she had just meant.

"Gaki-san! Where are you going?" Hitomi screamed as she shot up from her seat. However, it was too late. Risa was long to be seen from her room and down the hallway.

Risa reached her fingers into her pants pocket and pulled out her car keys as she rushed down the hallway, passing the FID offices with the beige brown file clenched tightly in her grip, 'There's so much things about her that I had never knew . . . that thing . .  .she was a victim of a rape crime. . . that explains her hostility during the examination with Hirisaki-san. And. .. what about Haru-chan? Did she knew that she was pregnant with her? Did she really abandoned her on intention? If. . . like what she had said. . .  if she hadn't wanted her. . . why did she even bother to bring Haru-chan into this world then? Who are you, Takahashi Ai?'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A great welcome to my new juniors to Keio School of Medicine. My name is Takahashi Ai, two years your senior. It's really a great honour and chance given by the Dean to stand up here and give a welcome message to my juniors. Starting first, I really hope that you juniors would put in your 100% during your learning and examinations. Getting a passing grade wouldn't get you anywhere in School of Medicine. In here, everything should be in a perfect grade. Remember, you are dealing with the life and dead of a human in the future. The life of the people is held in your hands. They had chose to put their trust in our hands and we should treasure this kind of trust they had entrusted us by giving our everything. That's the justice of a doctor. And eventually, by the third year of study, I guessed most of you should have an idea of your speciality in study. Whether do you want to be a general physician, or a specialist in internal medicine, surgery, OB&GNY, or even pathology. Each and every aspect of these speciality has its own purpose. They never stand alone. I, as your senior, had chosen to do forensic pathology as my speciality study at post graduate school. The country is in need of forensic pathologist - a speciality where study avoids to study - due to the fact that it deals with dead people instead of alive people. But to me, it’s a speciality that is more meaningful that any other speciality. Being a doctor, doesn't means that your job is to save the people from death. The dead people, too, can be saved. We can help them in our ways, understanding and searching the cause of death, and too, preventing a similar incident from happening, are too, a justice of a doctor. Once again, I welcome all of you to Keio School of Medicine, and I hope that you will enjoy your study, learning each of every little details of life over here. Thank you. "

'She's so cool!' Asami thought silently in her mind as she watch Ai getting off the stage.

- - - - - -

"Oi! Stop there!" Came of harsh voice, causing Asami to freeze in her steps and quivered a little . "I can’t believe someone like you can too pass the exams and get into school of medicine. Have you seen a doctor who can't even speak loudly to make herself heard, or even eat speedily when required? Hahaha" The voice continued to mock.

"What are you doing? Bullying at this age? Grow up please!" Came a familiar voice.

"Sen-senpai . . . " The harsh voice toned down and shivered at the entrance of Ai and Aya.

"You should question yourself about how YOU have gotten here. So you are here in school of medicine to mock on people's shortcoming? Then I'm telling you, you do not have the attributes to be a doctor!" Ai continued, causing the group to apologise to Asami and back away. "Are you okay?" Ai asked in a gentler voice.

"Yes." Asami mumbled inaudibly under her breath as she nodded her head. "Thank you."

"You are welcome. . . " Ai assured. She then turned slightly to Aya who stood beside her. " Kids these days . . .They are really immature, aren't they?"

"You are making yourself sound like you’re a 50 years old Oba-chan, Ai-chan ." Aya replied, successfully earning herself a stare from Ai.

"If that's the case . . . Aren't you saying that about yourself as well? Since you are slightly older than me, Aya." Ai returned playfully. "Are you hungry? Do you want to join us for lunch? I know of this place where they serves really nice omelette rice!"

- - - - - -

Ai picked up the few pieces of tomatoes from her food and placed it on Aya's place. "Ai-chan, you are turning 22 year old this year. Can you stop being so picky about food? You, studying as a doctor, should know that you should a balance diet and picking food off your plate is an unhealthy habit." Aya scolded.

"Bleh!" Ai brushed off. "I can't eat too much of them. You know that, don't you?"

Asami who sat across the two watched the playful interactions between the pair of best friend. 'How I wish . . . I can such a friend over here. . . '

"Why aren't you eating? Not up to your taste?" Aya asked when she realised Asami was spacing out before them. Asami shook her head immediately at the question.

"It taste nice." Asami mumbled.

"If you would like to, you can join our clique, though the two of us are known to be the weirdest pair in the school of medicine." Ai suggested suddenly, as if she knew what was going on in Asami's mind previously.

"Rea-really ?"

Ai nodded her head with a affirming smile.

'Where are you, Takahashi-senpai? Just as I thought I'd found you, you had gone missing again. Why are you suspended from CIL? What could be the reason, Takahashi-senpai?' Asami thought sadly in her mind when she finished recollecting her past encounters with Ai.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'It's time to do my rounds and check on Niigaki-chan.' Aya noted silently in her mind as she read the time on her wall clock. She hung the stethoscope over her neck and wore her white robe before exciting her office. As she walked down the hallway, she heard the commotion between Ai and Risa. She stopped where she was and saw Risa, with her hand wrapped tightly around Ai's left wrist, pulling Ai towards the direction of the roof access stairway.

"Let go of me. I don't want to talk." Ai grunted stubbornly.

'Where are they going? How did Niigaki-san knew Ai-chan? That's something I had yet to know. What are their relationship? 'Aya wondered in her mind when Ai and Risa had disappeared from the hallway. 'Maybe I should follow them. . . '

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Why did you dragged me up here? Let me go!" Ai grunted again as she flunked her left arm slightly, trying to get Risa's grip on her wrist off. Though the effort, it had totally failed. Risa tightened the grip on the wrist and pulled up the sleeves of Ai's shirt, revealing the bandaged arm. The bandage around the arm was not as thick as compared to how it was the day before.

"You have not told me how did you get this on your arm." Risa asked after staying silence throughout the trip up to the rooftop.

"I said before, it's none of your business. Just let go me, right at this moment." Ai ordered in a deep voice. Risa did so. Ai took back her arm and pulled the sleeves back to its original place. When she was done with that, she began to advance towards the door where the two had passed by previously.

"The reason why . . . why you refused to help Haru . . . was it because you did not want her right from the start?" Risa asked suddenly, stopping Ai from leaving the rooftop before she could twist the door knob and open the door.

Ai rested her hand on the door knob. "Wasn't that what I had said right from the start?" Ai returned coldly. She suppressed the pain in her heart by bitting deeply into her lower lips before continuing. "If . . .If I had wanted her to be alive, I wouldn't have left her alone at the street alley.

Aya gasped silently, bring her hand up to cover her mouth to prevent herself from being heard as she leaned against on the other side of the door. 'Help Haru. . . Ai-chan did asked me to serotype her blood. She did wanted to help . . . Why is she lying?'

"If that was the case . . . Why did you went to Tanaka family ? You are the one who had gotten Tanaka Reina-san to come for the blood test, didn't you? " Risa asked suddenly.

"I don't know what are you talking about. . . " Ai insisted stubbornly as tears began to roll at the edge of her eyelid. At the next moment, she felt a pair of hand on her right arm, twirling her around to face the owner of the hand.

"Why are you hiding the fact, the fact that you do care for Haru-chan? If you had not bothered about her, I wouldn't have found you over here, in the hospital, right outside of her room, not once, not twice but four times." Risa barked emotionally at Ai. "You did went to the Tanaka family, didn't you? That," Risa continued as she looked down at Ai's left arm. "You got your arm injured when you visited the Tanaka family didn't you?"

Ai remained silence. A single tear began to slide down her face, despite of Ai's wish of not wanting to cry in front of the police. "Why would I visited the Tanaka Residence in the first place? I do not have any relationship or strings with them." Ai hissed painfully. "Please stop going around and making assumptions, Gaki."

Risa felt her heart skipping a beat at the sight of crying Ai. 'She, she's crying . . . ' Unknowingly, Risa reached her thumb for the single and tried to wipe it away. Before she could actually do that, the outraised arm was being brushed away forcefully before Ai's face. Risa pulled back her awkward arm reluctantly.

"Yoshizawa-senpai. . . she . . . had passed your file to me. . . " Risa whispered. Ai looked up and into Risa's eyes when the sentence was said. Her eyes told Risa -unbelieve and shock- . "In behalf of Yoshizawa-senpai and the whole police force, I'm - I'm here to say . . . we are very sorry about the incident 8 years ago. Yoshizawa-senpai has decided to reopen the case and -"

"I don't need." Ai's voice croaked as tears began to pour uncontrollably down her cheeks. "I had told her . . . I don't need. .  . I want her to live in guilt. . . It's her who had caused this misery of my life. . . How I was being expelled from Keio . . . Nothing you all do can bring me back to that day. . . Nothing. . . So why bother? Why bother? It will never change the fact that Tanaka Juncho had rape me that very night! It will never change the fact that I was once pregnant! It will never change the fact that I had abandoned my child at my state of panic. It can never change back my life. Do you understand? It will never change!" Ai screamed at the top of her voice straight into Risa's face. Years of sorrows, nightmares were evident at the moment.

Risa gulped, not knowing what should she say. 'She had suffered a lot. . . Was this the reason for her to act unemotionally, for her to pretend that she doesn't care about a thing? And I - I still . . . the court case .  . . But why? If she hate the child. . . why did she even bother to bring her into this world? ' Risa thought in her mind as she glanced sympathetically at Ai, trying to put herself in Ai's situation. Risa felt a short pain running for her heart and down her both arms, causing Risa clench her hands into fists. 'No. . .. there's no way she hated the child, she had, she wouldn't had being caught by me upteen times visiting Haru-chan. No. . .somthing's not right. . .there must be something that i don't know. . '

"I don't need your sympathy. . . Don't look at me with that sympathetic eyes. I don't need. . . " Ai whimpered as she panted for more air through her sobbing.

"I -"

The roof door creaked open unexpectedly, causing Ai to turn around at the sound, and Risa, shifting herself slightly to the right to see who was the person who had just opened the door. "Matsuura-sensei? What are you doing over here? Is it that something had happened to Haru-chan?" Risa asked in fear.

Aya ignored Risa's question. "Ai-chan . . . " Aya called out. Ai turned back, looking away from both Aya and Risa. "Why, Ai-chan? Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell me about that? Ai-chan?" Aya hugged Ai protectively from the back. Ai squirmed in Aya's embrace. "What had happened then, Ai-chan? Why are you keeping everything to yourself? Why are you allowing people to misunderstand you? You did took the test didn't you? Your blood type was incompatible, that's the reason why you can't donate. Why? Why didn't you bother to explain to Niigaki-san ?"

'She did?' Risa reflected in her mind as she watched the very broken down Ai in Aya's embrace.

Aya's work phone rang suddenly. She released one of her hand from Ai and took her phone from her breast pocket. "What? I'm going down right at this moment!" Aya shouted into the phone. Without informing the two, Aya ran out of the roof through the door she had came in previously, and down the flight of stairs.

'Could it be . . . ' A horrifying thought flashed passed Risa's mind. 'No . . .it can't be. . . ' Following suit, Risa ran out of the roof in the same direction where Aya had just went. Just before Risa disappear down the stairs, she turned around and glanced at Ai. "I'm - " The intended apology lingered around Risa's lips, yet, with her pride and guilt, it was not expressed to the intended recipient. Without saying anything, Risa directed her glance from Ai to the floor, down the stairway and back to Ai, where their eyes had met for the first time since the confrontation. She bit her lower lips nervously. Unable to make up with her mind, Risa had decided to leave, beginning to chase down the stairs back to the level where Haru's ward was situated.

Ai collapsed onto the ground the moment Risa was out of sight. Her tears began to flow out hysterically, her breathing was getting irregular. 'I really want to forget everything . . . All these that happened . . . But I can't . . . Each time when I thought I'm over it. . . .The pain . . .they just flood within me. . . Just as if . . . . It had only happened yesterday. . . '  A single drop of water splattered onto her outstretched arm, causing Ai looked up towards the sky, only to receive a couple more of the said water on her face.

Rain began to pour down heavily, successfully drenching the lone figure on the roof top. "I really want to forget. . . please . . . " Ai whined as she gripped her hand into fist and punched the ground. "Please."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What happened?" Aya asked the nurse as she flipped the curtain apart and entered the enclosed area. A single sweat trickled down her temple from her running down the rooftop.

"There's an decrease in blood pressure. We took her temperature. It's running at 40.5 Degree Celsius."

"Increase flow rate of IV. Prepare cooling pads to reduce her fever." Aya ordered. She flipped away the garment of Haru, revealing the 2 incision on the abdomen - one during the emergency treatment when Haru was first admitted into the hospital after the accident and the second one from the transplantation surgery. Using her gloved hands, Aya pressed down on the abdomen. 'It's swollen. . . '  She removed her hand. 'It's red. . . pus. . .'

"Administer anti-inflammatory medications and immuno-suppressor drugs into her IV drip. There may be a possible internal bleeding of the organ. Get the OT prepared. Preparation for blood transfusion. There may be a need for emergency surgery. " Aya ordered again.

Just as Aya was about to leave the PICU to the OT, another complication arose. "Matsuura-sensei, There's a drop in her SPO2 and breathing rate."

Aya turned back to the bed. "Prepare bed for transfer! Call for EM to the OT."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Risa arrived outside the PICU. 'What happened?' Risa thought worriedly the moment she saw the bed through the glass window was covered up by the green curtain. 'No . . . Haru-chan. . . ' Risa rushed up to the entrance of the room, only to collide with the transfer bed that was being out of the room.

"What - what happened?" Risa stammered with fear as she backed away from the entrance, allowing passage of the transfer bed to the hallway.

"There's a need for emergency surgery. There could be a acute rejection and internal bleeding, Niigaki-san. Please excuse us." Aya informed hurriedly, brushing passed Risa as the team rushed the long hallway towards the operating theatre.

Risa stumbled a few steps as she shot her eyes wide open. 'No . . .This can't be happening . .  . Haru-chan . . . You can’t leave me alone . . . ' Realising that the team was already far away from her sight, Risa finally picked up feet and chased after the team down the hallway.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Where - where are they ?' Ai thought weakly when she had arrived outside the PICU, only to see that both the room and hallway was empty from people. Her clothes were soaked wet from the heavy rain that was still pouring down at that moment.

Ai stopped one of the nurse. "Where is the patient?" Ai asked in an almost inaudible voice.

"She was wheeled into the OT an hour ago due to some complications. Miss, do you want to go to the ER? You looked really pale." The nurse asked.

"It's alright." Ai replied immediately as she struggled to make her way towards the direction of the OT.

"Or do you wish to get some dry clothing to change into?" The nursed asked again.

Ai just shook her head lightly, not even bothering to turn around to face the nurse. 'Was the call just now for that child?' Ai straggled her way down the long hallway. When she had reached the OT area, she saw Risa, sitting all alone by the stretch of chairs placed along the hallway, elbows resting on her knees, as she rested her forehead against her  tightly intertwined fingers. A sudden spell of faintness washed over Ai, causing Ai to straggle  over to the nearest wall and hide behind it, supporting her almost limp body, preventing herself from collapsing onto the group.

"Please, let her be safe. . . I can't lose her. . . I can't . . ." Risa mumbled incoherently under her breath as she brought her hands from her forehead down to her lips, peeking up to the bright red lighted sign before her.

Please. . . Let her be safe. . . not after all the trouble . . . After all these endearing events. . . Not after. . . let her to be safe . . . she don't deserve this. . .  ' Ai prayed silently within herself as she closed her eyes. The heaviness she felt in her head intensify, causing Ai to force her head to lean against the wall to keep herself standing firm on the ground.

"Matsuura-sensei!" Ai heard Risa's loud greeting echoing down the hallway, allowing her to infer that Aya had just came out of the operating theatre. Ai shifted herself closer to the corner of the wall she hid behind, only to see Risa grabbing Aya securely on both her wrists. "Is Haru-chan alright?"

That was the last thing Ai had heard before darkness dawned before her. Her eyes had dropped close heavily.

"Haru-chan's alright. We have managed to stop the bleeding in time." Aya explained briefly.

-Thud-

A loud thud echoed down from the corner of the hallway caused Aya to look away from Risa and towards the origin of the thump while Risa loosen her grip on Aya's wrists and brought her hands back to herself. Risa had too directed her attention towards the wall, only to see a pale hand sticking out by the sight of the wall.

Aya brought herself down to the hallway, only to be surprised by the identity of the unconscious figure before her.  "Ai-chan?" Aya called out as she rushed forward to the motionless figure on the ground. "Nurse! Stretcher!" A shouted out as she hugged Ai drenched and cold body to her own.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aya sat beside the bed that Ai laid on. She had made use of her free time to visit her best friend, who had fainted from fatigue due to a high fever and malnutrition of the body. "Ai-chan, baka." Aya muttered softly towards the sleeping figure. "Why . . . why didn't you tell me anything? Why didn't you tell me that . . . that bastard. . . had did that to you. . . Why? Ai-chan, why?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Why had she lost her consciousness?"  Is - is she alright? Is - is she in any danger?' Risa was once again seated outside the PICU, deep in her thoughts. Risa stood up from her seat and walked towards the glass window, where she stared tenderly into the room at the unconscious little figure in the room.

"Haru likes pretty Onee-chan!"

The voice of the young adolescence echoed in Risa's ears, causing Risa to heave a heavy breath.

"If . . .If I had wanted her to be alive, I wouldn't have left her alone at the street alley. "

- - - - - -

"What had happened then, Ai-chan? Why are you keeping everything to yourself? You did took the test didn't you? Your blood type was incompatible, that's the reason why you can't donate. Why? Why didn't you bother to explain to Niigaki-san ?"

- - - - - -

"Please . . . Help to save her. . . Please. . ."

"Why should I?"

"Why should - should you? She's your own flesh and blood. Why shouldn't you?"

"It's not like I had wanted her."

- - - - - -

"If that was the case . . . Why did you went to Tanaka family ? You are the one who had gotten Tanaka Reina-san to come for the blood test, didn't you? "

"I did not. . . "

- - - - - -

"Why are you allowing people to misunderstand you? Why? Why didn't you bother to explain to Niigaki-san ?"

"Niigaki-san." A soft voice and a light pat on Risa's shoulder had brought Risa away from her trails of thoughts and back to the present time. She turned gently towards the direction of tap and saw Aya, who was slightly taller than what she had, carrying a placid smile and staring at her. "It has been a long day for you today. Why don't you get back and rest?" Aya concerned caringly.

Risa shook her head as she turn her attention back to the comatose Haru in the PICU. "I can't rest my heart. . . "

"I will be staying in tonight. You shouldn't worry too much, Niigaki-san. Haru-chan will need you when she wakes from her anaesthesia. You should rest more."

Risa shook her head stubbornly once again. "I . . . want to stay with her tonight. . . "

"But -"

"I will stay outside tonight. I don't need any place for me to sleep or anything." Risa insisted as she leaned her forehead against the cold glass window.

"If that's the case . .  . I will leave you to be then, Niigaki-san."Aya gave in and bowed lightly. "Excuse me. I will be back again in a little while to check on Haru-chan."

"Matsuura-sensei, wait a moment!" Just as Aya was about to leave, Risa had looked away from the glass and back down the hallway, calling out to Aya, preventing the latter to make her move. " How's -" The question came quickly to her lips. 'How should I ask?'

Just when Risa was pondering on how she should phrase her question, it seemed like Aya had already understood what Risa had in her mind. "Ai-chan is find. It's just a slight inflammation of the wounds on her hand and hypoglycaemia." Aya finished with a slight smile.

"Ah-" Risa stuttered. "I - I see. . . "Risa peeled herself away from the glass window and stop before the corridor chairs, where she settled herself heavily on them.

"Niigaki-san, you had misunderstood Ai-chan."

"Eh-" Risa pondered over the statement made by Aya before raising another question. "How - how did Matsuura-sensei knew about her? Did you know her from the past?"

"Ai-chan was my douki in Keio Medicine School. 8 years ago, she vanished from her dormitory, vanished from Keio without a sound nor word. I haven't seen yet for 8 long years, until the day where Haru-chan was brought into this hospital."

"Eh-"

"On the day when Haru-chan was brought in, that was the first time in 8 years I had saw her. I saw her, standing before this same place, watching into this same room. She told me that she was your colleague. She had asked to test for her ability for liver transplantation. She's not what you thought she is, Niigaki-san." Aya explained carefully as she stared into the room. 'Come to think about it. . . she . . .do share a little resemblance with Ai-chan, don't she?' Aya turned around, leaned her back against the window, and looked sincerely into Risa's eyes. "Ai-chan is a really nice and gentle girl."

"I - "

"Matsuura-senpai!"

Before Risa could make any response to Aya's statement, a sharp and distinct call from the end of the hallway, causing both lady to direct their attention to the said end.

"Mako-chan, Konno-san?" Risa muttered silently under her breath.

"Kon-chan?" Aya raised her tone by half a key. "What are you doing over here?" Aya continued asking as the pair drew closer.

"Niigaki-san is my new colleague from the MPD." Asami explained briefly to Aya before turning back to Risa. "How's Haru-chan?" On the other hand, Makoto settled herself comfortably beside Risa and draped her arm encouragingly across Risa's shoulder.

Risa glanced up to Aya before looking back to Asami. "She should be alright. I believe." Risa forced a smile.

"Hmmm?" Aya finally realised the connected relationship between the trio present at the moment. "Kon-chan, you said that Niigaki-san, which means that, you and Ai-chan . . . ."

"Hai. I had met up with Takahashi-senpai sometime back. " Asami answered absentmindly. "Matsuura-senpai too?" Asami raised.

Aya sighed deeply as she nodded her head.

"How?" Asami questioned curiously.

Aya stared over at Risa for a long moment, as if she was trying to attain the approval from Risa in informing the details to the other two ladies present. However, Risa had chose to look away from Aya. 'Ai-chan must had wanted to hide the fact from us, such that she had chosen to leave without any sound 8 years ago. . . ' Aya wondered silently in her mind. "Ai-chan . . .she was brought into the hospital after being found fainted on the streets earlier this morning. " Aya lied.

"EH-" Asami screeched quietly in shock. Risa returned the attention to Aya, trying to figure out the reason for Aya's white lie.  "How is Takahashi-senpai now?" Asami added on quickly.

"It was a slight hypoglycaemia. She's currently resting at the wards down this level. "

"I want to visit her." Asami decided stubbornly. Aya nodded her head lightly in approval. With that, the senpai-kohai pair tracked down where the pair had came from and down the stairway to the lower level, while the detective pairs remained seated at where they were.

"Are you alright, Gaki-san?" Makoto concerned, speaking for the first time since her arrival at the hospital.

Risa nodded her head tiredly as she stood up from her seat. "How are the cases going on?" Risa changed the topic as she stopped before the small glass window, remembering the earlier confrontation she had with Ai.

"Nothing you all do can bring me back to that day. . . Nothing. . . So why bother? Why bother? It will never change the fact that Tanaka Juncho had rape me that very night! It will never change the fact that I was once pregnant! It will never change the fact that I had abandoned my child at my state of panic. It can never change back my life. Do you understand? It will never change!"

"No much improvement. We are being driven into the dead end for the cases, Gaki-san." Makoto answered dejectedly.

"There must be something we can do. . . and we must do, Mako-chan. To help all those helpless victims of the sexual assault. Don't give up, Mako-chan." Risa encouraged. It seemed to be encouraging Makoto about the situation they were pushed into at the current moment. But little did Makoto knew that, that was too, an encouragement for Risa herself to stand firm and reflect and repent on her judgement made on Ai. 'There must be something I can do to help her. . . doesn't really matters, if she accept it or not. . . there must be. . . '

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Ai-chan?" Aya called out the moment she realised that she had just entered an empty room. She rushed over to the empty bed, where the blankets were folded neatly at the end of the bed, and the intravenous needle placed at the counter table beside the bed. 'Where has she gone? She's still going weak from the fever cause by the inflammation. and the drip!' Aya thought worriedly in her mind. In her desperation, she punched against the solid wall the bed was leaned against. "Ai-chan, Baka!" Aya muttered angrily.

I love a good "nue" story and seeing how Ai abuses her body like this makes me kinda happy yet so very sad as well. I must he crazy to be feeling this conflicted.

So far Haru is still alive but how long will she survive with all these complications?

I can't wait to see how Risa attempts to pull Ai out of her misery. It won't be easy and I'm sure you will make it so very painful ^^;

Thanks so much for updating though you are busy with school. Can't say the same for myself. Im such an idiot =(

"Eririn, do you want to leave together today? We can drop by to the newly opened western restaurant down the street at . . . "

Before Sayumi could finish her sentence, Eri had cleared her throat and interrupted the taller girl. "Sayu, I'm sorry.  . .But. . . I really don't feel like eating out today." Eri rejected politely and quietly as she began to continue to clear the documents off her desk.

"Why Eririn? Not feeling well?" Sayumi concerned as she stretched her hand over Eri's forehead, testing the temperature over her hand.

"Hmmm." Eri shook her head lightly while moving back, moving away from the contact Sayumi  made. "I'm just a little tired. I would want to return home early to have a good rest today." Eri explained.

"It must be the suspension of our inhuman supervisor that had made you this tired, Eririn." Sayumi concluded.

"Ne, Sayu, Gomen ne." Eri apologised again, feeling a little bad for rejecting Sayumi's offer to have their dinner together.

Sayumi shook her head immediately in response. "If that's the case, I guess we shall eat together tomorrow then." Sayumi continued with a gentle smile across her face. reassuring Eri that she was not taking in mind for the rejection for dinner. "Do you want to leave together then?" Sayumi asked again.

Eri shook her head in response. " I have a couple of other stuffs to fill in before leaving. Sayu you can leave first. You don't have to wait for me." Eri pulled a little smile on her face.

"If that's the case. . . " Sayumi trailed off, slightly in a quiet tone. "I'll see you tomorrow then, Eririn."

"Hmmm." Eri nodded her head. "I will see you again tomorrow, Sayu."

With that, Sayumi tracked softly across the room towards the exit, while Eri watch sadly at the retreating figure. 'Gomen ne, Sayu. . . I just wish to have some time by myself today. .  . ' Eri apologised quietly in her mind. Peeling her sight away from the empty space where Sayumi stood previously, Eri diverted her attention back to her desk and started to organise the messy stationeries on her desk. Her hands stopped working when they were inches away from an orange covered pen with green turtles patched over it.

"Kame! This is for you!" Risa slit the pen into Eri's breast pocket swiftly and without waiting for any response from Eri, Risa had slipped away from the track where Eri sat.

'How many years ago was that?' Eri reminisced as she grabbed onto the memorable pen and held close to her face. '10 years? ' Eri sighed deeply while she reached her hand towards the pen holder, dropping the pen back to its position. Eri stood up from her seat, took off her lab coat and hung it over the backrest of her chair. She grabbed her handbag from her locker drawer and paced towards the entrance of the laboratory.

"Kame . . . "

"I know what you want to say. . . Let's break up, shall we. . . isn't that so?"

"How - "

-bang-

The echo of someone hitting against the railing of the stairway to the exit of the building brought Eri out of her thoughts. She set her sight down the stairs, only to see Ai, stumbling and leaning against the railing support of the stairs. "Takahashi-san!" Eri exclaimed while rushing forward to support Ai. "Are you alright?" Eri continued in concern.

"Kamei-san?" Ai called out vaguely as she struggled to register the distorted image reflected on her retina.

"Are you alright, Takahashi-san?" Eri concerned again when Ai pulled herself away from Eri's grip. Ai nodded her head gently in response and attempted to make another step down the steps. Before she could even lift her feet, Ai had lose her balance and leaned back into Eri's embrace. "No, Takahashi-san, you don't look right to me in any way." Eri stated flatly to Ai. "Do you want me to bring you to a doctor or something like that? I think Yasuda-san should be still in her office though."

Ai shook her head stubbornly. "I - I said I'm alright. . . "Ai uttered weakly.

"If you don't want to have a doctor to assess on you, at least allow me to bring you home then, Takahashi-san." Eri refuted stubbornly, not allowing Ai to go in her own preferred way. Eri held firm onto Ai's petite frame and helped her down the stairways slowly. 'What is Takahashi-san doing at the MPD office in the first place? Isn't she on suspension? Looking from where she came, it seemed like she had just came out from the office of Team 5. . . '

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Where's your bedroom, Takahashi-san? Let me bring you to your bedroom." Eri asked delicately as she pushed the main door of Ai's apartment open, supporting Ai's bodyweight on her shoulder as she helped Ai into the house.

"Just bring me to the couch will do, Kamei-san." Ai whispered faintly.

Eri followed as what she was instructed. Carefully, she staggered Ai across the hallway where she placed Ai gently down on the couch. "You lips are cracking." Eri stated. At her own discretion, Eri left the living room and passed by the dining, where she randomly placed her working briefcase on the dining table, into the kitchen where she pulled a clean cup from the dish stand and filled the cup with water from the water dispenser. When she was done, she exited the kitchen and returned to Ai, where she held over the cup to Ai. "Have some water, Takahashi-san."

"Thank you." Ai thanked quietly as she wrapped her fingers over the cold surface of the glass and bring it slowly to her lips.

The two stayed in the room in awkward silence. Ai kept her eyes closed all the while, while Eri kept her eyes fixed on Ai.

"I'm really alright, Kamei-san." Ai spoke out of the blue, startling Eri. "I'm just a little low on sugar. That's all."

'She's - she's initiating a conversation?' Eri awed in her mind.

"Thank you for bringing me back." Ai continued softly, with her eyes closed lightly.

"You don't have to be so polite to me, Takahashi-san. You are my supervis-"

"Not anymore, Kamei-san." Ai interrupted before Eri could finish her sentence.

"Eh-"

"You knew my reason for suspension, don't you?" Ai continued quietly, not opening her eyes at all.

"I-" Eri stammered. "How - I - How "

"What's the relationship between you and the brat, Kamei-san?" Ai continued without waiting for a proper reply from Eri. "You don't have to answer, if you don't want to." Ai continued briefly after.

"The relationship between Gaki-san and I . . . is now all past tense. . . " Eri spoke almost inaudible after a long moment of silence. "Right from the day Haru-chan had appeared, Gaki-san had drew a perfect full stop on our relationship."

That sentence from Eri caused Ai to have her eyes open wide, allowing the soft lightings in her apartment to warm up her vision. Too, that was the time, Ai had realised that Eri had sat down on her the other couch, at a comfortable distance away from each other.

"I don't blame her. Neither Gaki-san nor Haru-chan. . . In fact. . . . It was because of Haru-chan, it is Haru-chan who had made what Gaki-san who she is this day. Without Haru-chan, I wouldn't had thought that Gaki-san would be able to achieve what she had till this day. . . She's like a gem in Gaki-san's life, that I can never be. . . " Eri trailed off sadly.

"Sorry." The simple 5 lettered word echoed in the silent room, causing Eri to look at Ai in surprise.

"You - you don’t have to, Takahashi-san. . . .It's - " Eri tried to get the right words to form at her lips but failed.

It seemed like Ai was able to sense the uneasiness and conflict going on in Eri's mind. She closed her eyes, pretending that she had not heard what Eri had just said.

"Takahashi-san. . . "

"Hmm?" Ai responded softly.

"Can I know why?" Eri embraced all her courage, cleared her throat and asked the question that had been buzzing in her mind right from the start. Why. To Eri, Ai is not the kind of person she bring herself to present to others. She always felt that there's something more than the Takahashi Ai that everyone sees in their eyes.

"There's no why. . . " Came the curt and short reply from Ai.

"There must be. . . "

"There isn't any." The reply as curt as before. "I don't need reasons for everything that I had done, Kamei-san."

Before Eri could further confront Ai, the buzzing phone from her pants pocket caught the attention of both in the room. Eri pulled it out immediately. Without any hesitation, she answered the call. "Gaki-san, what's wrong?"

Ai sat up in attention at the mention of the brat's name. However the sudden sitting up from her resting position caused a dizzy spell to run over Ai's mind, causing Ai to lean back to her original position. 'Did something happen to that child?'

"Alright. I will be there right at a moment." Eri ended the call and turned to Ai. "Takahashi-san. . . I - "

"Just leave." Ai muttered before Eri could finish her sentence. "I can make my way back to my room by myself." With that, Ai forced herself back onto her feet. Slowly and wobbly, Ai began to pace back to her room. As she hear the closing of her apartment door, Ai sighed. 'Is. . . is she alright?'
