A Royal's Secret Mission
Chapter 2 - Part 2“Mou~ This is so boring! Can we watch something else?” A girl suddenly shouted while crossing her arms across her chest and pouting. She was watching a tv show with three other girls in a watching room – room to watch television, kind of like a small cinema – inside a mansion.
“Ohimesama, what would you like to watch?” Another girl asked to the so-called ‘princess’. She woke up from her position and crawled to a small cabinet near the which hold some stacks of cds and dvds. She picked out some of them, searching through one by one for a fun movie that they could watch.
“Can we watch a horror movie? Or a thriller one? I don’t mind anything. This show sucks, man!” The princess said with a thinking look on her face. Seconds later she realized that the other girls were looking at her with shocking faces and one of them was frowning.
“What? I don’t want to watch those kinds of movies. It’s no fun at all!” Another girl who’s the shortest between them was taking turn of pouting. She couldn’t believe that the princess would want to watch a horror/thriller movie.
“Yeah, Kanon’s right. Don’t you hate those movies, Ohimesama? In fact, you’re afraid of watching horror movie, aren’t you? And you can never stand watching anything thriller too! What makes you suddenly wanted to watch them?” A raven-haired girl who sat beside the princess asked with a disbelief look.
“Are you having a fever or cold? Let me see.” She put one of her hand on the princess’ forehead, another one on her own forehead, trying to compare the level of their body temperature. She could feel that the princess was warmer than her, and she thought that the princess was having a fever, when actually the princess had a burning face due to the touch she received from the raven-haired girl.
“Mou~ I’m fine! Geez, Yukirin, always do like this to me.” The princess pouted again. The raven-haired girl called ‘Yukirin’ was just smiling seeing how cute and childish the princess acted. She couldn’t help but to pinch her cheek, making the girl moan in pain.
“Ittaii!! Yukirin! Why did you do that?” She rubbed her cheek that’s still in pain. She turned her head towards Yuki upon hearing a chuckle in return.
“I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help it. You were so cute when you pout. And you were cute when you get angry too! How can I resist it, my dear princess?” Yuki gave a very pleasant smile and a wink, which made the princess’ face turn into beet red due to blushing. The princess hugged Yuki in order to hide her embarrassing face from being seen by others. However, her attempt was failed because everyone has already known her, and can just read her actions.
‘Mmm~ Yukirin smells so nice.’ The princess thought while her head was still hidden beneath Yuki’s neck. She always likes to absorb Yuki’s smell. The girl’s sweet fragrance always made her feel calm and comfortable. Yuki return the hug and put her head on top of the princess’s head.
“We can never escape from watching the lovebirds, can we?” The shortest girl among them who name’s Kanon just shook her head and sighed from the sight of seeing the two lovebirds – Yuki and the princess – in front of her.
“Well, nothing’s more fun than watching them. You know Yuki-nee likes to flirt with her, don’t you? Plus, it’s fun to see the princess becomes timid once in a while. During day, her seriousness always tiring me.” The girl who just now went to choose a movie and inserted the chosen cd into a player, said while she walked back to her original position of sitting. She sat right beside Kanon and opened her arm through the back of the other girl’s to reach her right shoulder.
“Hey, I can hear that, you know.” The princess pulled away from the hug and threw a glare at the girl who was teasing her.
“Hahaha! I’m just kidding. Don’t worry, I will always be with you, Ohimesama. After all, I am just your loyal servant. So as Kanon-chan and Yuki-nee too. We will never leave you, no matter how tiresome you are. Hehehe.”
BUKK! Just after she finished saying, a pillow was thrown tight at her face. She had a puzzled look at her face while hearing some laughter came from Yuki and Kanon.
“Hey, what was that for?” She asked, looking at the princess. She wasn’t alarmed, but she believed that the pillow came from the princess since the princess was the only one who wasn’t laughing.
“I DON’T like it when you said that! You guys are the BEST friends I have ever had! And you will ALWAYS be! RIGHT?” The princess’ suddenly raised her voice and made the others startled. They stopped doing whatever they were doing – laughing, basically – and turned their heads towards her.
They gulped and shivered. Suddenly they could feel a very cold wind touched their skin, the cold aura that emit from the princess. No one can react to it, except for one, Yuki. The other two looked to Yuki and gave her the look full of hopes, hoping that Yuki could help to calm down the princess. Yuki just nodded and sighed. She pulled the princess’ face towards her and tugged few strands of hair behind the girl’s ear.
“Rena-chan. You know Kumi-chan didn’t mean it that way. She was saying that all of us are the very loyal friends of yours who will never leave or betray you. Right, Kumi-chan?”
They both turned to look at Kumi who was even more shivering when being asked like that. She looked straight at Yuki’s intense stare that almost sucked her soul out of her body. ‘Yuki-nee is even scarier than Rena.’ She tought. She could feel Kanon’s hand grasped her own hand, making her feel a bit relaxed.
“H—Hai!” She stuttered, and nodded vigorously.
“And you’re sorry for what you were saying, right Kumi-chan?” Yuki added.
“Hai!! I’m sorry, Rena-chan. Please forgive me.” Kumi nodding more and made an apologetically look on her face. She prayed hard in her heart, hoping that the princess won’t get mad at her.
“It’s okay. I don’t really mind. I was just teasing you anyway.” The princess said while smirking. She let out a small chuckle.
Kumi and Kanon let out heavy breathe they had been holding for quite a while already. Yuki smiled and mentally face palmed herself.
“Aaaaaa!!!” A sudden scream made they all jumped out from their positions. The teasing activities had made them forgot about the real world. They had even forgotten about the thriller movie that has been played since a while ago which was requested by the princess herself. They all turned towards the screen. Their eyes widened to the sight of a female who was stabbed few times all over her body.
“Okay, know what, I don’t feel like watching any movie now.” The princess said to an agreement of the others.
“Why don’t we go to sleep now, and we’ll see each other tomorrow?” Yuki suggested, also receiving nodded from the other.
“Okay then. Goodnight, guys. See you tomorrow.” Rena woke up from her seat and started walking outside the room. Yuki quickly stand up and whispered to Kumi.
“Could you guys, um.. take care of this for me, please?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry. We got this. Just go to her.” Kumi nodded and patted Yuki’s shoulder. She gave her sweetest smile to Yuki.
“Thank you, Kumichan. I owe you one!” Yuki started running towards outside of the room, trying to follow up the princess.
“Good night, Yuki-nee!” both Kumi and Kanon shouted. Their eyes followed Yuki until her sight was totally disappeared from the living room. Then they continue their works – cleaning the room.
Quietly, Kumi fixed the couches where they sat and some blankets that they used before. Then she walked to the dvd player again, picking back the cd that she inserted before just to be put into its place again. She watched Kanon picked up garbage and threw them in the dustbin while she turned all the electric appliances off.
Kanon turned her head up and saw Kumi was watching her. Their eyes met each other. Kumi threw her sweetest smile again, but this time to Kanon who was taken aback with it. Her face became redden at instant. The smile made Kanon’s heart jumped out a bit. Her body became weak everytime she sees that certain smile formed on Kumi’s lips. Her knees trembling weakly and she felt like falling off. But before she collapsed onto the floor, she felt something grabbed her shoulder to prevent her from falling.
“Are you okay, Kanon-chan?” Kumi asked. She was standing right behind Kanon while one of her hand grabbing Kanon’s shoulder, and the other was hugging the girl’s waist, trying to support her balance. Kanon could feel Kumi’s body was touhing her back and Kumi’s breathing right near her ear and neck, which made her burned up even more.
“Y—Yes! I—I’m fine.” She stuttered.
Kumi just smiled at the reply and she helped Kanon stand up properly. They both started walking out of the room, not to forget to switch off the lamp and a/c (air-conditioner) on their way out.
“Let me walk you to your room, okay?” Kumi asked, very gently. She smiled to Kanon and saw the shorter girl just nodded her head before turning her head down.
‘Kumi-chan always acts so gentleman. She always acting so manly even when she is in female attires. I’m always confused whether she is Kumi-chan or Kuumin-kun sometime.’ Kanon thought to herself before she sighed.
“Are you sure you’re okay, Kanon-chan? I heard you sighed just now.” Kumi’s question made Kanon jumped out a bit.
“Y—Yeah. I’m fine. Don’t worry.” She stuttered again. Kumi just nodded her head and they continue walking.
They both walked silently until they reached in front of Kanon’s bedroom. Kanon wished that their journey was longer. Even though it felt kind of awkward, but she doesn’t care as long as she got to be by Kumi’s side as long as possible. But to her disappointment, the journey wasn’t last long since they already reached her room not long after. She opened the door and switched on the lamp, brightened the whole room up. Then she turned towards Kumi who was standing outside the room.
“Well, see you tomorrow, Kanon-chan.” Kumi said, never leave the smile on her face.
“Um.. yeah.. See you tomorrow, Kumi-chan.” Kanon tried to throw a smile, but it turned out awkwardly.
“Goodnight, Kanon-chan.” Kumi was now walking backward few steps while waving her hand before she turned towards the other direction, walking to her own bedroom.
‘Kanon-chan was so cute! I love seeing her dimple. I wish I have a dimple too.’ Kumi thought to herself and pouted without she realized it. She stopped walking when she heard her name was called.
“Kumi-chan! Kuumin-kun!”
Kumi saw Kanon was running towards her, panting heavily. The girl’s stopped for a while to catch her breath.
“Kanon-chan! Is something wrong?” Kumi asked with a concern look on her face.
“Would you.. uhh.. do you..” Kanon stopped her words and she pressed her lips. She couldn’t think of suitable words to use. She scratched her – not – itchy head wandering for words.
“Yes..?” Asked Kumi after a few seconds of silence taking over, alerted the other girl from her thoughts. Kanon mentally face palmed herself before she continued spoken again.
“Wouldyoumindsleepingwithmeinmyroomtonight?” With just a single breath, she asked swiftly making Kumi frowned, confused.
“Pardon me?”
“I was saying if you would want to sleep with me, I wouldn’t mind either.” Kanon said before looking away, not wanting to look on Kumi’s face.
‘Oh my God, why did I say that way? Kumi will surely tease me now.’ She thought while closing her eyes tightly, waiting for any reply from Kumi.
On the other hand, Kumi was watching Kanon with much amusement. She couldn’t believe that Kanon will be very much of a tsundere. Kumi had actually heard the girl’s question, but she decided to pretend that she didn’t hear it, just to make sure that she heard it right. And after that Kanon was acting so tsundere, Kumi really wanted to tease her, but she hesitated when she saw Kanon looked away and her eyes closed.
‘She must be readying herself for my tease. Could she be anymore cuter?’ Kumi smiled.
“Hurm.. Let me guess. Miss Kanon here couldn’t sleep alone tonight?” Kumi saw Kanon’s head nodded slowly, but she was still looking away.
“Hurm. I wonder why is that so? Mind telling me why? Ka~non~chan!” Kumi grinned and playfully called the shorter girl’s name while taking a step closer to her. Kanon seemed hesitated for a while but shook her head later.
“Is there a mouse in your room? Or is it a cockroach?”
Another step closer. Kanon startled at the question but she shook her head again. She glanced to see Kumi from the corner of her eyes. She gulped upon the sight of Kumi standing near hear.
“Then, did you see a ghost inside your room?” Kanon quickly turned her head towards Kumi. Her eyes widened. How the hell did she guess that way? Kanon shook her head from left to right rapidly, convincing Kumi that there’s no ghost in her room. Hell, there shouldn’t be!
“Then, are you afraid since you watched the murder scene in the movie just now?”
This time, Kumi’s guess hit right to the nail. Kanon slowly nodded her head, sighing defeatedly. She admitted that she’s not a strong person. Just like the princess, her fear of watching the horror/thriller movies is one of her weaknesses. Kumi smiled and she grabbed Kanon’s hand.
“Okay, your reason is acceptable. I’ll keep you company for tonight.” She said, and they both started walking back to Kanon’s bedroom.

Meanwhile on the other side of the mansion, two girls were walking while holding hands. The raven-haired girl was finally able to catch up with the princess who was walking quietly. They both made their way to the princess’ bedroom. Yuki held the princess’ hand, trying to let the girl know that she wasn’t alone. Yuki did it because she knows that Rena is still terrified with the scene from the movie just now.
‘Why the hell did I ask to watch a thriller movie? Damn it! How the hell am I going to sleep tonight? Should I ask Yukirin to sleep with me? Will she agree to sleep with me?’ Rena cursed in her mind. Her face became redden to her own thoughts of having Yukirin besides her, lying on the same bed, under the same comforter. She shook her head few times, not realizing that Yuki has been watching her, seeing her face changing at times – from pouting to frowning, then suddenly redden and the shaking too.
“Re~na-chan!”
Yuki’s voice made Rena realized from her thoughts. Rena looked up to see Yukirin’s face with a confusing look. She lifted one of her eyebrows, as a sign of asking ‘what?’.
“We have been standing in front of your room for about 5 minutes already. Don’t you want to go inside?” Yuki asked while looking at her wristwatch.
Rena turned her head to look around her. She looked to the right, left, and saw where they were standing – exactly in front of her bedroom door. She looked at her feet, trying to remember when she stopped walking, she wasn’t realized.
“Ah! I wasn’t realized. Thank you, Yukirin, for walking with me.”
“It’s alright, princess. You’re okay? What were you thinking just now?”
“I—I’m fine. I do—don’t remember what I w—was thinking.” Rena lied. Her mind instantly remembered what she was thinking before. She shook her head in attempt to hide her blushing face, but Yuki could see that. Yuki pouted, sulking with Rena who’s keeping a secret from her. But she didn’t want to ask more.
“Fine then. I’ll be going first. Goodnight, Rena-chan! Sweet dream tonight!” Yuki left a kiss on Rena’s forehead before she let go of her hand that’s been holding Rena’s, only to be grasped back by the princess. She looked straight at the face in front of her, with concern look.
“Aren’t you going to sleep with me tonight? You know I can’t sleep alone after seeing.. uhh.. ‘that’.” Rena tried to not to recall the scene she saw in the movie just now. Or else, she really won’t be able to sleep at all, and that will be even harder for her since she is going to have a very difficult days starting from tomorrow.
“My pleasure, princess. Now, let’s go inside your room and settle down. It’s so late already.” Yuki smiled, and Rena smiled upon seeing it. They both went into the room and settled down onto the bed. Rena has left the room with just the side-bed-lamp switched on before so it’s easy for them to move into the room.
They were both lying on the bed while looking at each other’s face. Yuki lied on her left side, while Rena on the right side of her body. Yuki hand that kept playing with Rena’s hair made Rena smiled sheepishly but she felt very comfortable with it. She felt like all the uneasiness and the tiresome that she’s been feeling melt away with the touched from Yuki’s.
For Princess Rena, Yuki resembled her mother, Queen Matsui Yuna, a lot. Everytime she was feeling uneasy or sick when she was small, her mother would always play with her hair, stroking it until she fall asleep. The pain will just go away and when she opened her eyes, she will regain her strength back.
The same goes with Yuki’s touch. Rena closed her eyes, enjoying the comforting touch. She moved closer to the hand’s owner, and pulled out her hands to wrap around Yuki’s waist. Automatically, Yuki’s lied her left hand horizontally straight for Rena to put her head on it. Rena face leaned onto Yuki’s chest, inhaling the sweet fragrance she had. Yuki’s right hand was still playing with Rena’s hand, and they both were silently falling asleep seconds after. But a moment before Rena really fell asleep, she mumbled few words that were slow enough to be heard but still be able to be caught by Yuki’s ears.
“Mmm.. Yukirin, will you marry me?”
Yuki frozen.
