As a Sasshi oshi, this is big news. At first, I laughed about it. It was so random, so over the top, and so ridiculous that I really couldn't believe it. As a little sink in time passed I am not fond of the idea. For one, it's Sasshi. Sasshi is literally miles ahead of any other AKB48 member to me. She's the one true top oshi favorite I have in these groups. For her to be yanked out of that throws my fandom of the AKB48 group into total disarray. Having a particular oshi isn't that big of a deal. Having a binding force behind liking the group as a whole, however,
is. Sashihara really does mean that much to be as far as the AKB48 group is concerned. It's not like I am going to start to hate AKB48 or ragequit the group over it, but it does makes me feel really, really rattled for the time being, and recovering from that could take a decent while. It definitely knocked the wind out of my sails, to put it metaphorically. I'm not shy that I find idols to be disposable entertainment, for lack of a better term. If I lose an oshi, I'll just find another one. That doesn't mean I
like to lose one, though.
I look at it like this: people taking a peek at HKT because of Rino, when they would have otherwise ignored HKT before, are more liable to become fans of the group. Maybe they'll give their single, whenever it comes out, a listen, or have their eye caught by a legit HKT member.
Respectfully, I find this a bit short-sighted. That is more possible for fans like us, but the Japanese wota are a different beast altogether and in the end how they react in droves massively outweights what a the relatively small amount of gaijin fans might think. I don't think Sasshi stands to gain anything from this, nor HKT48. Sasshi oshis will stay Sasshi oshis(assuming they decide to in spite of this now-huge scandal), and HKT girl oshis will still follow their girls either ignoring Sasshi or resenting her for fucking things up. I think it would be better for HKT48 to garner a following of their own accord rather than having a 'disgraced' idol join their ranks. Then again, what do I know, really? All I have is more guesses, more conjecture. It's up to the fans and staff how this goes down. But as of right now, I see this scandal being played up to extreme proportions. It's going to be a big deal now because they
MADE it a big deal by doing all this.
To be frank, I am worried about this. I'm worried about HKT48's members and how their hard work might fall to the wayside. I'm worried that Sasshi's career might be coming to a sooner-than-expected end. I'm just worried, period.
I think this is an awful idea. Not really because it isn't fair, because there's no fair in these situations. No two are ever handled the same. I mean just look at Yonezawa Rumi and Hirajima Natsumi's punishment versus Yoshida Akari and Watanabe Miyuki's. I think above fair, this just doesn't make any damn sense. Where's the lesson to Sasshi? You fucked up and you get to do a hostile takeover of another group? Why is HKT48 being punished by being made into Sasshi's detention group? The more I think about it, the more frustrated I get. They should have just ignored the article or did a typical suspension. This is utter
nonsense.
