Giants won again today! YAY! LOL my best friend's second favorite team (after the orange and black of course) is the Rockies and she loves Troy Tulowitzki. When Huff got elbowed by him and everyone was booing, she was like "He didn't mean to! Troy's a good guy! How can you boo that face?!" in a rather low tone.

Frank McCourt: Greed kills...

Brutal, raw piece on Frank McCourt and the rot he cast on the Dodger franchise and brand.

I hope McCourt and his ilk get the worst kind of diarrhea forever...

Jose CANSECO visits Edmonton!
« Reply #1664 on: June 27, 2011, 08:24:23 AM »
went to local independent league baseball game on Saturday night and HEY! it was Edmonton Capitals versus Jose Canseco's Yuma Scorpions, who took a 6-0 lead on the Caps after the first inning on Saturday night, but I left after 8-8 cuz it was raining and apparently the they won 12-8 in the seventh inning after the game was finalized due to rain.

LOL check it: http://www.capsbaseball.ca/?p=1580

I stalked the outside of the field for a few hours, they had Taylor Hall (local young phenom for the Oilers hockey team) and this van kept driving by, dropping off players...then I noticed in the passenger seat was this GIANT BICEPS and fuck, no question it was Canseco. When he finally pulled up, he jumped out with a bag of McDonald's LOL and I was like "YO JOSE!" and he's like "...C'mon! Give it here!" and signed my baseball card. Fuck awesome lol, one of my fave players before all that Roids Thing.

He's a manager / player but tonight he was just managing.

There he was like hamming it up with the drunks too.

Ichiro not playing in the All-Star Game leaves me...  empty.  Sign of the times, etc.  Still surprised the overseas vote didn't come through.  I mean, D. Jeter still starts for the AL and he's only hitting 200-something...

^ I was surprise about Ichiro being left out however the AL saves leader (supposedly the interim closer) got in and that is worth a lot for just being the man in waiting also Shaq is getting into the action for final vote

Quote from: Shaq's Twitter
“vote 4 my man shane victorino 2 be in da allstar game pleas thank you atmlb.com/Victorino”.

I didn't purposely made it all Hawaiian but the rosters seem pretty even with some surprises, although again the teams that are pushing aren't getting their players in compared to the established teams

Yahoo's Jeff Passan on the tragedy in Arlington yesterday.

FYI there IS video of the incident floating around the intarwebs, including a YouTube page for ABC News, of all places. They'll air anything short of an actual crunch on the ground...

I just saw the WORST CALL EVER by a major league ump to end Tuesday's Pirates-Braves game.  You'll see the highlights tomorrow.

The ump just wanted to get the game to end, plain and simple.  Disgraceful and sickening.

The news just blew up in my Twitter feed about an hour ago: Hideki Irabu found dead in his LA home of an apparent suicide.

Read about Irabu in Robert Whiting's last volume about NPB.  It was apparent he's had some demons in him for a long time.  Sad he couldn't/wouldn't find the resources to heal.  RIP.

A-Rod "scandal?"
« Reply #1674 on: August 05, 2011, 12:54:16 AM »
Great bit on this latest A-Rod "scandal" via chat with ESPN's Keith Law, one of the best in the biz:
__________

Santos (Santosville)

So a bunch of players are charged with DUI recently and MLB shrugs its shoulders, but A-Rod may have played illegal poker and they are launching an investigation? Crazy pills?

Klaw  (1:08 PM)

Absolute waste of everyone's time. Shame on MLB for pandering to the lowest common denominator in both the media (a large segment of which has long had it in for A-Rod) and the fans. They have NO cause to suspend him, and if they try, they will lose the subsequent grievance in embarrassing fashion. And as you pointed out, the inherent message that MLB cares more about whether and with whom you play "illegal" poker than it does about whether you drive drunk and endanger your life and the lives of others is even MORE embarrassing.

A-Rod can't even suntan without being criticized. No wonder only those with CAJONES want to play for the Yanks.

Yeah....what a crazy few weeks of baseball...RIP Hideki Arabu. The DUI, being cut by the Expos. The pressure for Japanese pitchers to become the next big thing. Josh Hamilton, fucking tragic you can't imagine shit like that happening. Poor kid scarred for life. I think of the guy who tried (actually think he did) to catch the field goal in the NFL.

The more I hear about Bush League the more "C'MON MAN" this is the unwritten game, take it like a fucking man.

Meanwhile Ichiro keeps on hittign while Mariners keep losing - I lost track. Think the M's managed to stop the skid. And HIDEKIMATSUI is on FIYAH for the A's! lol I got this Japanese magazine where he is doing the :3 to the max.

I guess the DUI's haven't been deadly yet, so it may take a deadly consequence to realize that they need to be strict on this manner

As for A-Rod, they make it sound like he bet on baseball, however it doesn't matter too much on how the punishment goes because the MLB has something on certain players already so no surprise here

But this was a scary moment

Since playing softball, this has been a great fear especially if I had to pitch for BP, wish him luck for his recovery because that is a vicious injury
