Jeter is probably the most overpaid, but Tejada is probably the only shortstop I would take over him.

Jose Lima (whose hair now looks like cotton candy or popcorn) made his first start of the season for the NY Mets today and allowed five runs in five innings.  He was called up from the minors after Victor Zambrano went on the DL for season-ending elbow surgery (OUCH!).

Lima pitched for the dead-last Royals last season:

169.2 IP
219 H
31 HR
61 BB/80 SO
6.99 ERA

Ecch!  The Mets expect to dethrone the Braves with guys like this?  Willie Randolph had better rethink the roster or his team will implode, along with his job.  There's no excuse for wasting a roster spot on Lima cause he's got "veteran experience" or whatever bullshit excuse Omar Minaya served up.

Barry just slammed #713.  It hit the facade right below the highest deck in the upper right field level seats in Philly.  420-feet+ --  what a shot!

Hideki Matsui fractured his left wrist in the first inning of today's Yankees-Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium, ending a consecutive game streak of 518 MLB games.  He ended his NPB career with 1,250 games with the Yomiuri Giants (1994-2002).

Ouch!

MLB approved the use of pink bats for use on Mother's Day as part of a fund-raising campaign for breast cancer.  Fifty-plus players will use the specially made bats, pink wristbatnds and ribbons.

I saw that on the news.  FUCK!  The replay alone hurts, not as bad as the McCafferty leg fracture though.

I swear, ESPN kept showing Aaron Rowand slamming into the metal fence making that game-saving catch over and over and over and...

Yes, the blood was oozing out of his nose.  Ecch!

Ken Rosenthal asks The Question of the Year: Why are managers STILL walking Barry Bonds?

The guy can't run, can't field, isn't hustling to first, is striking out a lot more than usual and is hitting a lotta fly balls that don't even reach the warning track. But opposing National League managers still think Barry will smash like Hulk. Arrggh!!

I wonder how the pitchers feel?  Yeah, I can get this old man with the big head out with slop on the outside part of the plate but my manager's a pussy who doesn't want to explain such decisions to the media afterwards.

 It's just sad.

that is pretty sad...

It is painful to see Barry struggle to do anything out there. He just wants a couple HRs! Give it to him and stop being pussys. It would be smarter to walk Moises Alou or Pedro Feliz since they have more HRs than Bonds.

Matsui consecutive gane streak ended. I heard he apologized to Torres and the Americans were schoked. Any news clip about this?

What a shot by Bonds!  And the Bay Area fans gave him his props.

I wonder if any American League team would pick up Barry to DH 80+ games?

Interesting.  I read that there's a LONG line of guys who would have paid for a shot at Pierzynski.  Is he an asshole in general, ala Albert "Don't call me Joey" Belle?

Pierzynski is pretty cocky, but not an asshole. He's the kind of guy you love if he's on your team and hate if you're anybody else.

Classic guy for the Twins, love to have him on  your team, but hate him if he's on the other side scenario.

And hey Belle was caught stalking again. Put a GPS thingy on his ex, MAN! I gotta get me one when I hunt down Rika XDD
