That second three-run smash was a helluva bomb to center!

Hope the boobirds in the Bronx shaddap for now.

How about that All Star Game? Haha Michael Young won MVP, nice ass triple. I love how FOX is totally on David Wright's dick. sheeeesh. Home run derby though was cool - didn't think Ryan Howard had that much power in him. Watch his totals drop off in the 2nd half.

What's your mid-season surprises? awards? I really am like WTF over Mets and Tigers being in 1st place.

Props for the tribute to Roberto Clemente, watching all that footage was so cool.

I thought the all-star game was boring. I kinda gave up half way =P

but the HR Derby was awesome. Wright lighting it up in the first round And Ortiz hitting it out to the river was pretty exciting.

Yea, Ryan Howard gonna suck for the rest of the season. I call it the Abreu syndrome XD

I'll keep it short...

I'm a National League fan, have been for all my life.

I was rooting for the N.L. to win one of these goddamn games.  They failed, again, at the last second.

Give the American League props.  They're kings of the mountain.

I am a sore loser.  My stomach feels queasy.  I have no more faith.

That is all.

it has to be around the top of the ninth when it collapsed for the N.L. First, a single, then a ground-rule double, then a triple. It would have been cool to see if the next batter hit a home run. That would have been the cycle for 4 batters

FOX renewed its contract with MLB, extending its stranglehold on the World Series for another seven goddamn years.

I FUCKING HATE FOX!!!

OK another MLB-related rant:

Rumors say that MLB Comish "Bud" Selig will suspend Barry Bonds if he is indicted by the renewed Federal grand jury for tax evasion, perjury, and being a jerk.  Selig is able to do this under the so-called "Best Interests of Baseball" clause that gives him super powers of morality.

OK, whatever.  He's waiting for the charges to be officially filed.  But how come that pitcher for the Phillies can get away with being charged with BEATING HIS WIFE and still be playing without so much as a peep from Selig's office?

Answer: Bonds is THE Target.  Public Enemy Number One.

I wonder if Bonds can break the record now.

I feel bad for A-Rod.

Bondsie said he's gonna play no matter what until he breaks Hankie's record. And he doesn't care if SF doesn't want to resign him.

Harold Reynolds was fired by ESPN.  Sources told Deadspin-dot-com that it was due to the dreaded sekuhara: http://www.deadspin.com/sports/top/was-this-why-harold-got-the-axe-189733.php

I'm kind of bummed by this.  He was certainly NOT a progressive analyst (Rob Neyer should be on Baseball Tonight, damn it!) but his enthusiasm and likable style made the show worth watching for me.  Now all we got is Fat Kruk.

Peter Gammons: get well SOON!  We need you, baseball fans need you!

Analysis of Ichiro
« Reply #377 on: July 29, 2006, 11:14:34 AM »
Interesting bit from a chat at Baseball Prospectus:
_____

CCW (Seattle): Notice how Ichiro never gets hurt? Never even has minor pulls and tweaks. He does yoga and spends far more time worrying about balance and flexibility than pure strength. Is flexibility, core strength, and balance being properly emphasized to major leaguers?

Will Carroll: Ichiro is a freak. The good kind.

On the last part, no. It's slowly getting there. If I could, I'd watch everything Ichiro did and copy it.

At the ASG this year, during BP, Ichiro hit one into the river that was at least as far as anything Ryan Howard or David Ortiz did. I'm also convinced that Ichiro could pitch.

whoa...I need to postwhore a bit in here or Sab will be quadruple posting XD believe me, I been doing it in my mind when I'm listening to ESPN Radio updates every 20 minutes

I haven't heard shit from Ichiro this year :O and I live near the Pacific Northwest.

How about the Dodgers - thought for gone - now pulling off like what 10 in a row? Brad Penny became the NL's first 13-game winner!

Red  Sox snapped out of their losing streak ... people counting them out (tho they lost to KC and TB) are fools. Big Papi and Man Ram somehow get it pumping up in Boston.

Yankess are sure fire lock for the NL East? Dunno XD Those trades were nice, and Matsui and Sheff are coming back - but Yankees will be Yankees. A-Rod and his purse will squeeze up. Jeter for MVP? Hold the phone.

The tightest race seems to be in the NL Wildcard. Go Reds!! Love to see Griffey back in the post season.

Hell, I'm a big fan of ball parks, stadiums, arenas, and coliseums. I just thought of another dumb thread.
