The Indians went off in the 11th inning.

The Rockies are playing great. They've completely surprised me.

I hear Dusty Baker was signed to a three-year contract to manage the Cincinnati Reds.

Reds fans: RIKA help you...

Sox fall to the Tribe, 4-2.  Cleveland's pitching gets the job done!  Does Beckett go on short rest as the Indians go for the kill?

Too much to say about this.  I'm sure there's quite a roar of activity in the blogosphere.  It's a helluva story and it's hard to dislike what's going on, provided your fave team isn't the Phillies or DBacks.

There are also some Rockies fans who are staunch in their insistance (bordering on base arrogance) that the twenty outta twenty-one streak has little to do with luck and more a manifestation of actual talent, i.e. Colorado IS the best team in the National League.

Well...

-- Come on, if Junior Gwynn doesn't get the two-out, two-strike triple against Hoffman on 9/29, Rockies are kaput.

-- Just about anything can happen in a short series, even against Philly and Arizona.

-- Before Sept. 15, NOBODY could have predicted/expected the Rockies to bust out like this.

-- This hot streak does not reject sabermetrics or any "Moneyball" system of front office management.

That said, I think the Rockies probably could take out the Patriots this weekend...

ESPN showed a clip from 2005 when Josh Beckett (pitching for the Marlins) was talkin' smack to Kenny Lofton (hitting for the Phillies) about flipping the bat when taking a premature base on balls.  We got to relive the moment tonight during Game 5 of the ALCS.  Benches empty, no punches, no ejections.

Also Manny R. drove in a run with a 380-foot single.  What a sweetheart.  Boston won 7-1 to take the series back to Fenway.

J.D. Drew: GRAND SLAM in the first, RBI single in the third!

Wow.

Inning over, finally!  10-1 Sox.

Of course, it's "only" the 4th and Victor Martinez got ANOTHER hit off Schilling...

Final from Fenway: 12-2, Boston over Cleveland.  Schilling pitched seven innings, allowed two scratch runs and the bullpen will be fresh for Game Seven.  Cleveland's bullpen was also helped by 4 2/3 innings by Aaron Laffey, whose fantasy value just shot up for 2008.

Eric Gagne pitched a scoreless ninth and Drew drove in five runs on the night.  Cleveland's closer, Joe Borowski, allowed two runs in a tuneup for Sunday.

FINALLY, a Game Seven in the post-season!

Anyone watching Game Seven?  Awesome game!

Questionable out calls, clutch errors, third-base coach holding up the tying run...  I LOVE IT!

Pedroia two-run jack in the 7th, now 5-3.  But now the Indians have two on, no out in the 8th.  Here comes Papelbon!

Cleveland had two on and NO OUTS in the 8th.  Papelbon: strike out, ground out, fly out.  Zero runs, two left on base.

Time is running low for the ALCS...

OK six (6) runs for the Sox in the 8th.  Papelbon still eligible for the "save."

Big Papi went oh-for-five tonight and the Sox still put up 11 runs on the scoreboard.  Remarkable.

Finale score from Fenway Park: 11-2.  Was a LOT more exciting until the 8th inning...

Nothing symbolizes the thrill of victory more than the sight of a grown man going looney tunes on national television.

Boston, your closer is NUTS and be happy he's on YOUR side.

Top 8th, 13-1 Boston.  Yawn . . .

Actually Boston winning in a sweep isn't all that exciting. I was hoping for more games -_-
Don't expect me to reply to any post. I tend to not care.
