Crayon Pop

Crayon Pop is a new five member girl group from Chrome Entertainment. They debuted with the song "Bing Bing" on June 24, 2012. They simultaneously released Korean and Japanese versions of the MV, which was filmed in Osaka. They have another MV titled "Saturday Night" coming out on July 18th and their 1st digital mini-album (with the two aforementioned tracks and their instrumentals, plus one remix) is dropping on the next day, 19th.

Also, two of the girls are actually twins, just to make learning who everyone is easier...

Teasers for "Saturday Night". These are VERY similar to Girl's Day's "Oh! My God". An homage? A straight rip-off? Looks like fun in any case.

Wow, I only heard about these girls earlier today, when I saw the dance practice vid for "Bing Bing". And man, I watched it like seven times in a row. I'm a sucker for a good dance practice vid, I admit. I love the dance, the girls are cute... and the song is really, really good, maybe with the exception of the "Bing Bing" bits. But the instrumental, horn section and beat, love it. Also, Soyul is totally in the Q-ri zone of rap mastery. xD

Yeah, based on the debut, this is my fave rookie group of 2012 so far. Can't wait to see and hear more.

Damn, thanks for all the info! I didn't know anything about them, but I already love them. I saw the Bing Bing MV a week or so ago and I liked it but when I saw the dance practice last night I also couldn't stop watching it. It sucks they didn't get to perform Bing Bing on TV, seems like such a waste of that great dance. I can't wait for their album, I'm sick of replaying Youtube videos.

I agree, definitely my favorite rookie group to debut this year.

Their choreographies are so cute and upbeat and fun and did I say cute already >_< ACKKKK
So refreshing to see a group that seems to have a signature style in choreography... it looks like video game dancing

I especially like Soyul's dancing, she's a natural... She makes it look so effortless and is so sharp with her moves at the same time, so enjoyable to watch!

I can't believe they're all in their 20s already!

'Saturday Night' is good, but perhaps a little slow-paced for the Korean Party Rock Anthem

Life Stryfe, 'Bing Bing' definitely sets them in my place for 2012 best rookie group. It would've been flawless without that stupid "bing bing bing bing" part, but it's still fairly incredible. It's cute, catchy and generally awesome. The choreography is really what gets me. I don't remember the last time I saw one that's just so smooth. Every move is just so well integrated and you can really see when one step just melts into another. It's pretty spectacular. A lot of the moves remind me of the actual dancing you see in clubs/parties

I haven't wanted to learn choreography anywhere near this much since 'Shy Boy', which doesn't mean I will do so, but it's the thought that counts, right??

It's good to see that quality can still be produced even under the limitations of conservative K-pop.

Crayon Pop is now my C-Pop of the Korean music industry.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention, I was won as soon as I heard 'When You Wish Upon a Star' in the intro of the 'Bing Bing' intro. So much nostalgia.

To be honest, the bingbingbingbingbingbing doesn't bother me in the least anymore. Sounds like it belongs there now. I'm more bothered by the atrocious effect mix of Soyul's rap that made it into the mini-album version. It changes the rap from Q-ri level hilarious to plain irritating. They don't even use it in the perfs, so why'd they hafta do it? So, I just ripped the mp3 from the dance practice and listen to that, haha.

And yes, that choreography is an instant classic. Saturday Night Kangaroo Hop isn't quite up to par, but it's still fun and shows they're trying to do something different.
