Not sure how much money to set aside for when it comes out? What if you buy 2 controllers instead of one? 2 games instead of 6? Go here to find out:

toys r us still havent given a price total for their bundle. but i am guessing it will be around 450-500 Canadian. that includes two games and a set of controllers.
but too bad that i might have to wait for the 2nd shipment to come since i am really far back in the lineup.

Nintendo is pretty good for releasing an adequate number at launch.

I'll probably wait a year for the price to drop. I'm not really interested in Wii games - just in getting the classic controller and playing SNES and Genesis sidescrollers...

I putting a deposit on a Wii tomorrow (Sunday). I'm trading in my PSP (obtained free as part of a mobile phone contract). I think at launch UK will see 6 games of which I intend to buy Zelda.

I like the idea that gamecube games can be played but also Nintendo are considering (not sure if this speculation - I think I read it somewhere) releasing "patches" to get a better fit of the controls for game cube games.

Does anyone know if this was ruled as rumour or not?

Wii gets DVD playback...in 2007
DVD-player manufacturer jumps gun on Nintendo announcement, says enhanced Wii due in "latter half of 2007."

When Nintendo dished out its final specifications for the Wii, there seemed to be one glaring omission--DVD playback. With the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 touting built-in multimedia players, the Wii seemed to be only next-generation console unable to provide movie playback.

Now, less than a week before the Wii is even on shelves for the first time, it appears that those final specifications weren't so final after all. After weeks of speculation and Internet reports, it has been confirmed that the Wii will eventually get DVD playback.

Sonic Solutions, makers of the popular Roxio CD- and DVD-burning software, today announced that it has been chosen by Nintendo to provide "high-quality DVD movie viewing to a future version" of the Wii. Sonic Solutions says the new version of the Wii is expected in "the latter half of 2007."

When asked for comment, a representative from Nintendo confirmed the statement from Sonic Studios.

Nintendo has yet to make a formal announcement about the new Wii, and has not indicated whether DVD playback is part of a console redesign.

By Tim Surette, GameSpot

Ain't that a bitch. They should have stuck with putting the DVD playback in the first place.

Who cares?

I can buy a competent DVD player (all the Wii will be) for $25 (literally) from Wal-Mart.

I don't see DVD play back as a major selling point for consoles any more.

today i went to futureshop and asked about the numbers of Wiis they will have, amazingly, they will have around 80 at launch. i always thought they will have only around 30 at most?

hearing that, i am more optimistic about getting my pre-order at toys r us at launch since they have very good tides wit nintendo. so hopefully, they will have enough.

there is no hype at all for Wii it seems!! anyways i am fucking happy that ill be garenteed a console at launch since my local toys r us told me that everyone who pre-ordered will have it. it really shows how much consoles are launching on  day one. i was listed at 78th spot on the pre-order list. i was pretty damn sure i wont get my console till the 2nd shipment. but i am so relieved that they have enough.

My friend bought three.

Only one is for him. The other two are for his brother and brother-in-law I assume.

I want one. ;_;

Hey guys, so I was debating whether or not I should wake up early and line up to pickup the system from my local Toys 'R Us (in Markham, suburb of Toronto) but then I figured it would be a miserable night for me with the cold weather.  I had a preorder so I was guaranteed a system BUT I did want to pick up an extra set of of the Wiimote and Nunchuk.  I decided to take my chances.

I slept in a bit today and ended up getting to TRU at around 2pm.  They had a lot of people in the electronics department and some kids were walking around looking for the Wii.  By the time I got there, a good chunk of the games were sold out...i.e. Red Steel, Rayman, Excite Truck, etc.  Surprisingly, Zelda was still available...I know that Best Buy had Zelda going for 10$ cheaper and I asked if they were able to price match but BB was sold out.  I ended up picking the system, Zelda and an extra Wiimote (no more nunchuks, bleh).

Here's a pic...sorrry for the low quality.  Taken with the W810i.

I am now deciding whether or not I want to sell it instead.  Despite having more units available for launch than the PS3, I've been hearing many retailers have sold out of the Wii as well.

He is playing Wii for a week and sleeps only  about 4 hours a day. Here is a live feed of it. He's been playing Zelda and right now Madden.

Now a webcamera is located near to TV. I started watching him playing Zelda. It really resembles Ocarina of Time.
