Chapter 3
The class has finally ended and yuria realized the amount of study that she would have to work on because she almost didn’t understand anything that the teacher was talking about. Well, no one could blame her, she had been bullied since young and that was probably the reason why she didn’t like to study. Especially not in that kind of harsh environment.
“haaaa… finally over…” Yuria said with a sigh and laid her head on the table.
“Yuria, see you tomorrow~ we are going home now.” Takamina and the group said as they waved goodbye to yuria.
“Ah, by the way, yuria, if you have anything you don’t understand you can text us. We will always help whenever we can.” Takamina said as she waved her phone before saying another goodbye and walked out of class.
Yuria smiled, as she was glad that there was finally someone in her class that cares about her. Takamina and her friends were nice people.
Yuria packed her bag and sent a text message to her mother saying that she would be staying behind in school for a while. She wanted to start studying as soon as possible.
“Yosh.” Yuria picked up her bag and noticed that kumi was asleep again.
“ehhh…” Yuria looked around. No one was around. Everyone had gone home. It was just her and kumi.
Yuria put down her bag and watched kumi’s sleeping face.
“so cute…” Yuria thought to herself. She was happy just to see kumi in her life again. The kumi that helped her back then. They were teenagers now, and kumi had turned into a beautiful young girl. Yuria wanted so much to touch kumi’s cheek but she controlled herself. She didn’t want kumi to freak out.
Yuria continued watching kumi until her phone rang and startled her.
“M-mum?” Yuria whispered.
“Yuri, I will be going overseas for awhile, it’s a sudden decision that was made by the company. Dinner is in the fridge and I left money for you on the table. I gotta go now, Love ya dear~” Yuria’s mum said before hanging up.
“E-eh?! O-overseas… I will be alone…” Yuria said as she looked at her phone and sighed.
“Alone?” Kumi spoke suddenly and startled yuria. Her phone almost drops to the floor because of the shock.
“Y-yagami-san?!” Yuria said as she hugs her phone close to her.
“Yo.” Kumi said as she ruffled her hair and stood up.
“Eh?? Everyone is gone again?! Seriously, nobody ever wakes me up…” Kumi said as she took her bag and slanged it over her shoulders before giving a small yawn.
“Aren't you going home yet?” Kumi said as she looked at yuria.
“E-erm, I was thinking of going to the library before I go home…” Yuria said and blushed.
“Library at this hour?” Kumi raised an eyebrow.
“Y-yea, my mum went overseas today… I might as well study in school since I will be alone at home anyway…” Yuria said as she clutched her phone.
Yuria was afraid to be alone. She didn't like the feeling of loneliness. She would think of the times where people will bully her when she is alone. She had become reliant on her mother.
“hmmm…” Kumi gave a simple respond before continuing:” See you then.” Kumi said a short goodbye before walking out of the classroom, leaving yuria alone.
“… Kumi… do you really not remember me?...” Yuria said and clutched at her phone again before heading towards the library.
Yuria was amused by how big the library was in this school. There were variety of books for her and she didn't know where to start.
“ehhh… I don’t know where to start…ah, maybe this will help…but… this will help too… ehhhhh….” Yuria pouted and looked around.
The library was quiet and there was nobody in sight. It was no surprise. Everyone in this school had above average grades and personal home tutor, therefore, they didn't need to study in school at all. The library was just a place for leisure reading.
“… alone again…” Yuria flipped open her phone and saw that it was already 7pm.
“eh? Time flies by so fast…” Yuria closed her phone and decided to just head back home. The quiet atmosphere was starting to creep her out.
There were only a few students left in school, mostly waiting for their butlers to come and pick them up. Even so, yuria felt relief that there were still people in school. She did not really like the dark. Especially when she is out alone.
Yuria made her way out of school and walked towards the bus stop. As expected, nobody was around. Yuria took a sit while waiting for the bus. The next bus was scheduled at 730pm and that was 15 mins more to go. Yuria took out her hand-phone and started browsing on random webpages. It was something that she would usually do to keep herself occupied when she is alone.
“Wow, it’s our lucky day guys. What a cute girl!” A tall guy with an Afro hair said as he walked towards yuria.
Yuria was engrossed in her phone and didn't hear the hooligans approaching.
“Hey girl, are you alone? Need us to bring you home? Hahahaha!! Or you wanna hang out? Come on let’s go party.” The guy with the Afro hair said.
Yuria did not respond, as she was engrossed with her phone.
“Oi! Lady! Didn't you hear what our boss said?!” Another guy stood out from behind the Afro head and slapped the phone away from yuria’s hand.
Yuria was in shock. This again… why was it always her, she thought to herself.
“W-what do you want…” Yuria said as she started to stand up and back away.
The stench of the guys was making yuria uncomfortable.
“Lady, come on don’t be shy, let’s go party. I bet it will be fun!” The Afro head said as he hiccup. It seems like the group of guys had been drinking and they were looking for trouble.
“S-sorry, I am in a hurry!” Yuria excused herself and wanted to walk away but it didn't go smoothly. She didn't even have time to grab her phone that was on the floor.
“You are not going anywhere! HAHAHA! Come with us, or we will just party here!” The Afro head said again and laughed.
“I-I am not interested!” Yuria said as she tried to push away the guys but they were too strong and drunk. She backed away and ended up tripping on a small pebble.
“Oh no! This is a bad timing to trip, baka!” Yuria thought to herself.
“Come on guys the lady fell, grab her and let’s go!” The Afro head guy was getting impatient and he ordered his man to grab yuria.
“N-no! Let go!” Yuria slapped away the Afro’s head arms and kicked a few of the guys.
“How dare you!” The Afro head reached out his hands and was about to slap yuria.
*Jing. Jing *
Yuria heard a familiar jingle.
“Kumi!” Yuria thought to herself.
Sure enough, just when yuria shouted kumi’s name in her head, the Afro head’s hands were blocked before it could land on yuria’s face.
“...” Kumi was still covering her head with her hoodie and she was still listening to her headphone.
“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!” The Afro head bellowed.
*Jing. Jing*
“HUH? OUCH!” The Afro head guy was hit right in the stomach.
“BOSS!” The other guys rushed to check on the Afro head’s condition.
“GET HER!” He bellowed in rage and his man surrounded kumi.
Yuria was still sitting on the ground, stunned by what just happened. She couldn't see clearly but she was sure kumi had landed a punch in that Afro head’s stomach, so fast that she couldn't see.
“Yo.” Kumi didn’t bother about the guys who were surrounding her. Instead, she turned to yuria who was still sitting on the ground and she lightly hit yuria on her head.
“Time to go.” Kumi said as she grabbed yuria’s wrist and pulled her up.
“Eh? But, those guys, they are surroun-“ Yuria’s opened her eyes in shock.
The guys who were surrounding kumi were all lying on the ground, every one of them in pain.
“You said something?” Kumi said as she pulled down her headphones.
“N-no, n-nothing…” Yuria said as she looked at the fallen guys and then looked at kumi with an unbelievable look on her face.
“Let’s go.” Kumi was still holding on to yuria’s wrist and this made yuria blushed as kumi led her to a nearby bicycle.
“Hop on.” Kumi said.
“E-eh?!” Yuria blushed again. The thought of holding kumi from behind made her face heat up.
“? What’s wrong?” Kumi said again.
“W-where are we going?” Yuria asked.
“…” Kumi looked at yuria and lightly hit her head again before saying: “Home of course.” And gave a small smile which made yuria fluttered for the nth time of the day.
Yuria hopped on to the bicycle and kumi started peddling.
The journey to yuria’s house was quiet but yuria was more than happy to be able to be this close to kumi.
“I…” Yuria said.
“Hmm?” Kumi answered.
“I-I thought you went home already…” Yuria said. She wanted to know why kumi was still around.
“You thought wrong.” Kumi said as she turned back and smiled to yuria.
Yuria blushed and held on to kumi’s waist when kumi started picking up speed.
Kumi smirked.
“We are here.” Yuria looked up and saw that she was already outside her house.
“T-thank you.” Yuria said as she loosens her grip on kumi’s waist and went down from the bike.
“Nights, and here.” Kumi passed a piece of paper to yuria.
“It’s my phone number.” Kumi smiled before wearing her headphone and cycled off.
“Eh? How did she know where my house was?” Yuria said as she did not have the chance to ask and kumi was gone like the wind.
“Kumi’s number… I finally got it.” Yuria smiled to herself and blushed. She headed into her house and closed the door.
Kumi cycled out from a corner and shook her head.
“Yuria… Baka da na~ If you looked closely enough, I had given you my number years ago…” Kumi jingled the bell on her hood bell and smiled: “It’s in here.”
She cycled off, knowing that yuria was safe at home.
