Well, it's 2:15 am where I live, but I suddenly became inspired to finish writing this chapter, and here it is     I don't care if it has grammar mistakes, I'm tired, so I'll double-check tomorrow, after I wake up 

CHAPTER 4 (CONTINUATION)

“And why didn’t you tell me?” she inquired.



“B-because I was afraid you might m-misunderstand our relationship, l-like she does…” why the hell did I keep stuttering?!



“I see… but now, thanks to this I no longer trust you, Kai-kun, after all, you lied to me” she said, with a serious face.



“W-w-What?! B-but Atsuko-san y-you were laughing j-just a couple of minutes ago!” I just couldn’t comprehend this. “What the hell?!” I thought.



“I know, it was fun, but that doesn’t change the fact that you lied to me…”

“B-but…” I was left speechless, was she for real?



“I’m sorry, I just need some time to myself, see you later, Takahashi-kun” and just like that, she stood up and left me alone. Boss was coming up the stairs smiling while humming a joyful song, but once he saw Atsuko-san was leaving, he stopped.



“What’s going on Kai? Did she had an emergency or something? Why did she leave so suddenly?” he questioned, in a preoccupied tone.



“No Boss, I just screwed up, BIG TIME.” I said, my voice sounded sad.



“Oh, is that so? What did you do? Did you confess to her?” he kept asking questions…



“No, I could never do that, even though I like her, I’m too afraid to ask her to be more than friends…”



“Then, what in the world did you do to make her leave like that?”



“I-I lied to her…” I said shyly.



“YOU DID WHAT?! KAI; IF THERE’S SOMETHING YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER DO, THAT’S LYING TO A GIRL!! You know why? Because they ALWAYS find out… Just ask my wife!!” he was notoriously exalted.



“I-I know, but I didn’t think about the consequences… I extremely regret it now” my eyes felt a little wet, was I seriously gonna cry because of this?



“Don’t worry, you can still fix this, and I’m gonna help you…” he said with a determined face. “Men were born to help each other against women and their crazy way of thinking!” Great, another nutshell…



“T-thanks Boss, but…. She was really mad at me”



“Fear not, my little, unexperienced Kai. She was just overreacting, like most women do; I bet instead of being mad, she was actually disappointed, because she felt that you didn’t trust her enough…”



“Wow, can you tell that without even talking to her directly?” I said, now he had my complete attention.



“You bet I can!! You see, this old guy here used to be quite popular not too many decades ago…” he winked.



“Pffft! You?! Popular with girls?! Yeah right, Boss!! Stop messing with me!!” I couldn’t help laughing.



“Hey, your incredibility offends me, young man! My afro used to make all of the other guys jealous, and girls always approached me because of it” He said, taking out his phone and proudly showing me a photo of his younger years. “You see now?! I was the coolest guy back then!”



“O-ok, I believe you now Boss… But, how is having an afro going to help me get Atsuko’s trust back?” I reasoned.



“It’s not about the afro, it’s about me knowing a lot about women! I can definitely help you!” he said again, with an amazing amount of self-confidence.



“Well then, please tell me… What can I do to fix this whole mess?”



“Firstly, you need to text her and apologize to her in the most honest way you can think of… Then, without letting her know, you buy some flowers and make a surprise visit to her house” he started. “If she doesn’t want to open the door and tells you to leave, you tell her you’re not going anywhere until she listens to you” man, this old guy is actually wise…



“But, it’s mid autumn, besides, I heard tonight is gonna rain… do you want me to die or something?” I interrupted him.



“Stop whining boy, you were the one who screwed up, and you’re the one who’s gonna fix it, whatever it takes, or do you want to stop being friends with her?” he was now a little annoyed; “do as I say and you’ll be like before in no time... though it’s not like you cheated on her, because you’re not even dating…”



“Y-you’re right, I’m the one who must fix this mess, I won’t care about anything else; I want her to forgive me!” I said confidently.



“That’s the spirit, now let’s go, there’s a lot we need to do” he said. “While I close the shop, you write and send that text, remember, be as cheesy as ever” he then rushed downstairs.



“B-but wait, what should I write?!” CRAP. I had no idea how to start.



It took me a while to figure out how to start my text; but after that initial blocking, I started writing effortlessly, words flowing from my mind thru my fingers into my phone. Finally, around fifteen minutes later of writing what I considered a prudent amount of words, Boss came back upstairs.



“Are you done? Let me see” he said, taking the phone out of my hands.



“W-wait, d-don’t read it, it’s embarrassing…” my face got red.



“Hmmm, I see… this is a really good apologize text, are you sure it’s your first time writing to a girl?” he just said.



 “Of course, unlike you, I’m actually not that popular with girls…” I said shyly.



“Then you have a natural talent, my young friend… This will do, now send it” he ordered.



“F-fine… *beep* It’s done, now what?”



“Now, Kai, we need to rush to the flower shop before they close, you’ll need a bouquet of colorful flowers, but avoid roses, since they focus more in romance than in an apologize…”



“Ok, then, what flowers should I get her?”



“Maybe carnations, because they have a pretty color, and last for about 3 weeks…. Or tulips, their bright colors are quite attention-getting, but please, don’t choose both of them, or it’ll look like a hippie-psychedelic bouquet….”



“Wow, you weren’t lying when you said you had a lot of experience with girls…” I said, surprised.



“You still doubted me? Man, you’re hard to convince… Anyways, let’s go, there’s a flower shop around the corner, and I think they’re still open…”



We rushed out of the café, he told me which way to go while he stayed and closed the shop's entrance. I ran as if my life depended on it, and luckily the flower shop was still open. I rushed inside and talked to a clerk, she told me both carnations and tulips were good choices… She explained to me more about them, and I ended picking the carnations, because they lasted longer, and somehow, they provoked a warm feeling inside my chest…



Boss arrived just when I was about to pay, and gave me a thumbs up for my choice. We then rushed into the park, heading to Atsuko-san’s apartment. Suddenly I heard my phone’s ringtone, I had gotten a message; it was from her. I stopped and opened it, she said that even though I had sent a very sweet text, she still was mad at me for lying, and that we shouldn’t see each other for a while.



I couldn’t accept what she said, so I once again I started running, Boss behind me. In a few minutes I had reached her apartment building, once again, I had to deal with the women at the lobby, who seemed to hate me for some unknown reason.



Luckily Boss, being the retired player that he was, entertained them while I ran with all my might upstairs to Atsuko-san’s apartment. It felt like hours passed as the elevator reached the floor in which it was located. I ran through the hall until I reached her apartment’s door. I knocked, and waited for her reply.



“Yes, who is it?”



“It’s me, the idiot from this afternoon”



“Which one? I met a lot of idiots this afternoon”



“Takahashi Kai, the idiot who’s tremendously sorry for not telling you the entire truth about Yuko and him…”



“Ahh, that idiot… Tell him I don’t want to see him and that he better leave”



“He says he’s not leaving until you properly listen to him…”



“Well, tell him he’s gonna have to sit down, because I have no intention of opening that door anytime soon”



“He says he’ll wait until you’ve calmed down, it doesn’t matter how long it takes”



“Well then tell him I’m tired, and I’m going to sleep” she said coldly.



“I’ll gladly tell him”



Silence.



“Takahashi-kun, are you really planning to stay out there the whole night? It’s going to rain soon…”



“I don’t care, I’ll show you how determined I am to make you forgive me” I answered  confidently.



“Ok, but I don’t want you knocking on my door if you’re cold or anything…”



“I promise you I won’t do that, now please, go to sleep”



“Fine”



*A few hours later - around 12:30 am, in Atsuko’s room*



“Damn you Kai, it has already started raining, and I can’t sleep because I’m worried about you…” she grunted. “I might as well go check on you without making any sound to make sure you’re fine” she thought.



Atsuko got out of her bed, and opened her bedroom’s door without making any sound; she slowly headed towards her apartment’s entrance door and took a peek thru the peephole. She saw Kai, sound asleep while sitting in the floor in what appeared to be an uncomfortable position, in front of the door, with a beautiful carnation bouquet beside him.



Rain was falling outside the window, what used to be a light rain had now turned into a storm, and thunder and lightning were close to appear. She stayed there, looking at the little guy getting soaked by the rain. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for him, so she opened the door.



It was freezing outside; she was only wearing a pink short, a black tank top and her white ankle socks, with a green border. She got out of her apartment and approached Kai, she tried to wake him up, but couldn’t; she touched his face, and realized he was burning hot. His hands were cold, though. She quickly dragged him inside, along with the bouquet he had brought with him.



She placed him on her couch, and took off his soaked wet, white shirt and pants. He was left with only his sleeveless white shirt which was, for some reason, barely wet, and his underwear. She quickly went to her room and took a hand towel; she then went to the kitchen and filled a plastic container with cold water.



She introduced the towel inside the container, and then squeezed it to get rid of the extra water, to finally place it over Kai’s forehead. She then went back to her room and took a cover to place it over his body. Atsuko sat beside the couch and stayed there in case Kai woke up. She periodically submerged, squeezed and placed the towel on his forehead.



She was caressing his right cheek with her left thumb, while saying out loud: “Mou Kai-kun, you’re really an idiot, getting sick just for my sake….”



Suddenly Kai slightly opened his eyes and said with a weak voice: “I-I told you I wasn’t going anywhere until you properly listened to me”.



Atsuko got startled because of this sudden event; still she told him: “Idiot, how are you planning on talking with me if you can barely stay awake?” she lightly chuckled.



“I-I guess I didn’t think about that… Hehe”



“Shh, don’t speak, you’re still pretty weak, I promise we’ll talk tomorrow but for now just rest, ok?”



“O-ok…” he said, almost falling asleep.



He suddenly felt a warm sensation all over his body, but it felt slightly warmer in a certain place; his lips. Atsuko had given him a kiss, since she was worried about him, and just couldn’t help it any longer. She wasn’t really mad at him; she was just disappointed he had lied. But it didn’t matter now, after the events occurred in the café, she realized something: she might have feelings for this guy.



While Yuko and Kai were fighting, she was just gone, thinking about the close relationship the two midgets were likely to have; she was jealous. She had succeeded in hiding her true feelings by laughing like a maniac, but the truth was, she was actually hurt. She realized she had liked Kai for a long time now, but she was sure Kai didn’t feel the same way, that he just saw her as a friend.



Now, all of a sudden, when she was finally making Kai get interested in her, this girl Yuko, suddenly made an appearance. To top it off she was claiming they were engaged and that she loved him; a rival had appeared before she could do anything to avoid it. She didn’t know what to do.



She thought that keeping her distance from Kai might help her feel at ease and that her heart might not hurt as much if she didn’t saw him for a while. But she was wrong; as soon as she arrived home, she regretted not having stayed in the café. She was sure Kai had a good explanation, but she was just so fed up with the whole matter that she had to run away.



Then she got the text from Kai, which she reread it countless times, until she memorized it. She could feel Kai had put his heart in those words, and that he was truly sorry, but her pride was stronger. She blew him off.



Lastly, a few hours ago, when the persistent guy appeared in front of her door, her heart had skipped a beat; she was now sure about her feelings for him. But again, her pride was stronger, and she didn’t let him in; she also was regretful about this, because now, the same little guy was on her couch, with a very high fever. She felt guilty.



Now, with all those feelings, she couldn’t take it any longer, and she just impulsively kissed him. She didn’t care if she was taking advantage of him, for once, she wanted to be selfish and think only about her own happiness; about herself.



After her lips parted from his, she kept caressing his right cheek until she fell asleep next to him.

Well it's been a while since I updated, sorry about that I actually got a new idea for another fic, so I had to write it before I forgot Btw, for those who wished me good luck I shall inform you that I ended up failing Math... But well, I will retake the exam on Thursday, and hopefully after this I'll be able to finally enjoy my Winter vacation. Enough about me, today I finally got the time to update, so here it is, Chapter 5.

Chapter 5

The next day Kai woke up in a place that was completely different from his bedroom; it wasn't even his penthouse! "Ahh, now I remember" he thought. Yes, it wasn't his place, but Atsuko's; he had gone the night before to apologize for being such an idiot and lying to her about Yuko.


He also remembered asking for Boss's help since, quite unexpectedly, he actually knew a thing or two about women; and lastly, he remembered running from one place to another until finally reaching his final destination, which was no other than Atsuko's apartment door.


From there his memory was blurry; he remembered having a little chat with the girl with whom he intended apologizing, but by then, probably due to stress caused by this whole misunderstanding, he wasn't feeling completely fine.


He figured it might just had been a headache caused by tiredness or something like that, nothing to worry about; he was proven wrong a few hours later, when he lost consciousness as soon as the storm he had heard about on the news had started.


After that, everything was blank; he had no idea how he had gotten past the front door, but he was glad an "angel" had taken care of him during the night.


Now, that angel was sleeping soundly sitting next to the couch on which he had slept, in a position that seemed like everything but comfortable. "She looks beautiful when she sleeps, I don't feel like waking her up" he thought.


He felt it was his fault she hadn't slept fine in the first place, the fact that she fell asleep in the middle of the living room, instead of her own bed; he just couldn't bring himself to cause any more trouble for the poor girl.


He also felt guilty because, due to his stubbornness, he had to be taken care of while he lost consciousness,  and who had to do so was no other that the girl he intended to apologize to, he was just a burden to her, pr so be thought.


Finally, after waiting a few minutes, Atsuko woke up. She had the cutest sleepy face you could imagine, her hair was messy, but it only helped her look even better. This was a rare sight of the girl, and Kai was glad he was able to get to know a different side of her, one that not many had the chance to see.


After Atsuko woke up completely, no trace of sleepiness left in her body, she remembered the reason why she wasn't on her bed, hugging one of her pillows. After she noticed Kai had been looking at her the whole time, a certain memory was replayed inside her head, and her cheeks reddened all of a sudden; she forced herself to look away from her friend, feeling ashamed of her actions the night before.


"What have I done?!" she lectured herself, not noticing Kai was enjoying all of the silly faces she was doing while the self-lecturing took place.


"Atsuko-san" he interrupted her thinking, "thank you".


"For what?" She replied automatically.


"Taking care of me last night, although I'm not quite sure how I got here..."


"I dragged you inside, along with your flowers; since  leaving them behind would've been a waste, because they are really pretty."


"Sorry for always been nothing but a bother to you, Atsuko-san...." He said shyly.


"Don't worry, I know you'd do the same for me..." She replied without looking directly at him; she couldn't bring herself to.


"Eh... Is there something wrong? Why do you keep looking at everything around but me? Also, your face is kinda red... Don't tell me, perhaps you got sick because of me?!"


"Don't worry, I'm fine, Kai-kun" she said with a smile, looking directly into his eyes; instead, he felt as if she was looking straight into his soul. He blushed.


Atsuko noticed this, and thought Kai might not be feeling good again... She stood a little higher than before, and intended to put her forehead on Kai's to see if the fever had gotten back; Kai got surprised with her sudden action, and tried to move away, but ended up bumping heads with her.


They both apologized to each other, their faces as red as a tomato; Atsuko went to the kitchen to bear with her embarrassment, and left Kai in the living room.


"Oh God, why am I being such an idiot?!" She thought, "get a hold of yourself, Atsuko!! Act natural for God's sake!"



*Meanwhile in the living room, sitting in the couch*



"Kai, you're such an idiot... Why does everything I do have to be a total fail? I'm starting to think I have bad luck... She must think I'm a fool" he thought.


Finally, Atsuko was the first one to speak.


"K-Kai-kun d-do you-u want s-some water?" Why the hell am I stuttering?! she thought.


"Ah, s-sure A-Atsuko-san... T-t-thanks" he stuttered as well.



(These two are surely a bakapuru (baka +couple) aren't they?)



Atsuko figured some self slapping will help her calm down, so she did it; she then got out of the kitchen, carrying a tray with two glasses of water, one for Kai, and the other for herself.


Kai noticed one of her cheeks was redder than the other; he abruptly stood up, but he caused Atsuko to trip and both glasses of water fell off, resulting in getting her pajama soaking wet, and also falling towards the tiny coffee table next to the couch where Kai had slept the bight before.


He noticed that Atsuko was going to crash against the glass coffee table, most probably resulting hurt, or even cut. He rapidly grabbed her, and turned towards the couch, but due to the fact that water had been spilled, he slipped, and ended up falling in top of her.


Luckily neither him nor Atsuko had gotten hurt, but something else happened; they accidentally locked lips.


And as if the situation wasn't awkward enough, Kai (finally) noticed his pants, or more exactly the lack of them. He had woken up with the cover Atsuko had placed over his body, so he hadn't yet noticed this embarrassing fact... In less than a millisecond, and much to Atsuko's amazement, he stood up and covered himself with the piece of fabric.


His face was completely red with embarrassment, he felt like digging a deep hole and throwing himself into it; Atsuko on the other side, didn't care about her friend being in underwear, since she had been the one to undress him.


She was trying to avoid worsening his state the night before, she didn't have a choice, because his clothes were soaking wet from the rain.


What had really shocked her was the sudden kiss, she wasn't expecting to repeat it, like ever, what had happened last night was just out of impulse; she had actually promised herself not to do something as outrageous as that ever again, since she feared she'd lose Kai's friendship because of that.


When she got out of her trance, she saw Kai on the other edge of the couch, the cover wrapped over him.


"Kai, are you okay?"


"I just kissed you, and oh, for some reason I don't have any pants on... There's no way I'll be okay!"


"Oh, about your pants, there's a valid reason f-"


"Please, explain."


"You see, last night it was raining, you fainted in front of my door, I dragged you inside, your clothes were wet, I took your shirt, pants and shoes off to avoid worsening your fever... And well you ended up looking  like this" she spoke so fast that Kai barely understood what she had said.


"Is this how raped girls feel afterwards? It's horrible!!"


Atsuko laughed at her friend's silliness, this also helped lighten the mood. Kai relaxed a little, but was still quite "vulnerable" or so he said.


"Kai-kun, yo can go to the bathroom if you want, I'll go look for your clothes, and give them to you so you can get dressed; once you're ready, I'll make you some breakfast, okay?" she said smiling.


"O-okay... But, could you tell me where is it?"


"Oh sure, the door on the left, the one of the right is my bedroom... it's kinda messy, so you better not get in there."


"T-that sounded like you were menacing me..."


"Maybe I was..." Kai could notice her teasing mode had awaken.


"Yeah, okay, I'll be in the bathroom until you brig me my clothes; about the breakfast, I'll feel better treating you instead of letting you cook for me, besides, what if I end up having food poisoning or something?!" He said, grinning at her.


"Mou, idiot, I DO KNOW how to cook!!" she said pouting.


And just like that, these two's friendship went back to normal; Kai had to eat Atsuko's breakfast, even though she knew how to cook, she decided to play a prank on Kai, and prepared the most horrible thing possible, it barely looked eatable.


Kai knew if he said something bad about her cooking, Atsuko's feelings (and pride) would get hurt, and he didn't want any more trouble.


He ate everything that was on the plate, which surprised Atsuko, who had previously tasted some of it and couldn't handle the saltiness; she realized Kai was a very nice guy, and couldn't help but think it wouldn't be that bad if he liked her the way she liked him. But that was just wishful thinking, or so she thought...
