I just made this story for my friend riderchick

I'm still not that sure if she'll like it

Now here it goes~
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Over here, Kojima-san! Oshima-san!”
“Did you vote for Takahashi-san?”
“Are you and Oshima-san back together?”
Haruna stood on the red-carpeted, straight-backed, chin-up, smiling into the glare of lights, and the barrage of reporters in front of them. Behind them, tiers of spectators were packed into bleachers emblazoned with a Japanese Awards banner. Her hand tightened on Yuko’s arm. “Don’t let go.” She told her through locked teeth.
Behind her, suddenly, she heard the crackle and gargled speech of walkie-talkie as a muscled security guy in blackout sunglasses rushed past. Then the entire group of cameras panned away from them to the next arrival, and she was politely hustled into the crowd towards the theater entrance.
“Over here, Kojima-san! Oshima-san!” One of the attendant called them and lead the two stars in the hallway.
“That crowd was crazy! Someone stepped on my gown and I almost tripped! Thank God I was able to keep my poise.” Yuko said and Haruna re-joined her. She smiled at her.
The next moment, she was being rapturously greeted by a girl dressed in a billowing ball gown made of shredded white feathers. Haruna squealed back with equal excitement and smiled at her recognized actress friend.
“You look wonderful!” Haruna exclaimed.
“So do you!”
Truthfully, everyone looked like a waxwork crudely crafted by an overenthusiastic apprentice.
After a short chitchat, the two stars edged towards the broad walkway that led to the theater.
“Why did you agree to come with me tonight?” She asked.
Yuko took a moment or two to formulate her answer, then said simply, “I wanted to see you…”
Haruna didn't press her further and just ignore her brightest smile that plastered on her face.
Everyone was here. Haruna exchanged air kisses with Mariko, Miichan and Acchan looking all gorgeous with their gowns made by popular designers from all over the world who also came to join the party with the stars.
Haruna waved back, redirected Yuko, and they were edging their way across the flow when the crowd parted and she came face-to-face with their friends.
“You look so beautiful, Haruna! Yuko is surely lucky to have you as her date for tonight.” An award winning actress named Itano Tomomi said as she came to see the two with her lovely date Kasai Tomomi, securely clinging onto her arms.
“Thank you.” She smiled.
“But Yuko is also looking good with her gown. And it's Oshima Yuko we're talking about here you guys! The one and the first ever actress to receive an award outside our country! People must be so jealous of you right now, Haruna.“ The actress added.
“Thanks, Tomochin. I'm really glad you never forget that we were in the same team before.” Yuko gave her a short hug and smiled at her, showing her signature squirrel-smile.
“It’s not about having you in the same team, it’s a compliment, Yuko.” Tomochin shook her head, smiling.
“As much as we want to stay for long, we still need to go ahead to greet other ---“
“It’s fine. We’ll see you girls later then!”
Then Haruna wheeled Yuko about and headed to the auditorium.
“Let’s forget it, we can still meet them all later. I want to sit.” Yuko started to protest, but Haruna shook her head, lip pursed, burningly aware of the whispers and sidelong glances that pursued them.
“What was that all about?” Yuko murmured into her ear once they had safely left their friends and onlookers behind.
“Didn't you see the news this morning?” Haruna hissed.
“What, the government thing?”
“Me! The rude actor, he was at behind, I told you in the car! He insulted me. You should have hit him.”
“But NyanNyan ---“
“Shh, we’re coming into camera range. I don’t want anyone lip-reading us.”
Automatically Haruna smiled and greeted as they made their way down the aisle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After almost an hour of the awarding, Haruna found her hands were sticky with sweat. “I’m going to the ladies room.” She told Yuko at the next ad break, standing up abruptly, she heard something rip. That bow on her dress must have gotten pinched between her seat and backrest; it was now hanging half off. She felt alarmed as she minced her way to the ladies room while trying to hold it in place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After 20 minutes, Yuko‘s face cleared as Haruna approached her. “There you are. I was getting worried. What took you so long? I thought you must be sick.”
“I am, a little.” She said, seizing on the excuse. “Would you mind terribly if we skipped the party and went home?”
“Of course not.” She looked relieved. “I mean, with all the nonsense going on, it’s hard to talk in here.”
“One more thing.” Haruna swung around to show her the hole in her dress. “Could you possibly put your arm around me while we leave? And keep your hand on my butt to cover the rip?”
“Sure, if you don’t mind the wagging tongues. I've been asked about twelve times already if we’re back together again.”
“Oh, who cares, let them talk.”
It was comforting to have someone to lean against. No one looked at her oddly now. She even saw other women giving Yuko the eye. She sighed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a long silence after they got inside the limo.
Yuko finally turned to speak to her now – was she thinking of her? Oh that was so sweet. Yuko had really enjoyed the night with her. “Uhm, you know, I’m really glad that I was your date tonight, but the real reason I wanted to see you….” She hesitated.
Don’t close your mind to possibilities. Mariko had said to her suddenly came up to Haruna’s mind.
“Yes?” Haruna murmured encouragingly.
“Well, you know how come things can be right under your nose but you can’t see them? A person, say. You know them, you like them, but you kind of take them for granted. Then one day, bam! Everything changes. Maybe it’s something to do with maturity, with finally recognizing what you want, but suddenly you realize that she is the person.”
“She?” Haruna echoed. Was Yuko talking about her?
“Acchan!” Yuko’s face burst into a radiant smile. “Our friend Acchan that I’ve been working with for 6 years. We’re officially dating!”
Haruna shot bolt upright. For several seconds she stared at her, open-mouthed. “You guys are dating.” She repeated.
“I’ve been dying to tell you all night. Of course, I had to tell you in person. The thing is, Acchan and I really wanted to meet you, but I know what your schedules like. Acchan and I missed you so much!”
Acchan, Acchan, Acchan. Yuko loved her name. She loved saying it. She loved her.
Suddenly, shame ripped at her.
Haruna took Yuko's hand and reached forward to kiss her lightly on the cheek. “I’m so happy for you. This is wonderful, wonderful news.”
“Yep.” She was grinning like a school girl.
But weariness seeped into her bones. Wrong again. Stupid again. Whenever she looked she saw rejection and failure, and she was trapped in the one place in the world where everyone is turning her down. She had to get out.
“I have to get out!” She called suddenly.
Yuko looked, alarmed.
“I’ll be fine.” She said, stepping out the limo.
Even so, Yuko leapt out after her, looking troubled. "Haruna!"
“Please, Yuko, let me go.” She pressed her palm briefly to her cheek “Goodbye.”
....
At last, she was alone, running her way toward the hotel. “I have to get out! I have to get out!” She repeated under her breath.
Ahead of her, suddenly, there was a flash of light struck straight to her. She quickly covered from the bright lights that hurts her eyes. She struggled as she tried to move but she couldn't. She screamed at the top of her lungs as the bright light slowly enveloped her.
“Ahhhhhhh!”
----------
“Haruna! Haruna!”
“Yuko! Yukooooo!”
“Haruna! Wake up! Hey!”
Haruna opened her eyes widely and stare at the worried person trying to wake her up. “Yuko?”
“No. It’s me, Takamina."
"Takamina?"
"Yes, Takamina. Your girlfriend.”
TBC?
