CHAPTER 18
“I’m not sure to go there” Rena said while she opened her wardrobe to choose a proper dress.
“It’s okay, you’re not the only one. Acchan will be there too. She’s also not the student of our school. Just take it easy..” Jurina said, he lays on Rena’s bed.
“Juri-kun, don’t lay on the bed! Your suit will be rumpled” Rena glare at him. “Ne.. look at this, which one do you think the best? This one?” she shows the red dress, “or this one?” then she shows the other red dress with different cut.
“You’d better not wearing anything” Jurina teases and wink at her.
“Mou! Juri-kun is such a pervert!!”

“Yoo!!! Good evening everyone!!” a red haired guy stands on the small stage “Wow seems like everyone has arrived here!!”
The MC greets all the guests that come to the party. “To open this special night, I have an amazing band that will rock your time tonight!!” he pleases a band to come to the stage. Then some guests are cheering to the band, especially girls.
Kai arrives arrives two minutes after Acchan. Then he walks approaching her. “What’s the different if you go with me, huh?”
Acchan chuckles, “You right, but I have to appreciate Yuu for preparing a car for me to come here.”
“BRAVOO!!” Mario comes in greeting the two, he’s been there before them. “Look at this!! Romeo and Juliet!” hearing what he said, the two are blushing, especially Kai. Mario hands over to Acchan and kisses her hand. “You’re looked so beautiful, my princess” he teases her. Acchan just laughs because she knows that Mario is just teasing her.
“Guys!! Look what I bring here!!” Jurina shouts happily when he arrives. He holds a pretty girl with him, smiling shyly.
“Ah, Rena-chan?!” Mario widened his eyes. “Welcome, pretty girl” once again, he kisses Rena’s hand.
“Whoa.. don’t too long dude! This girl is mine” Jurina glares at him.
Rena just laughs as she looks at her cute jealous boyfriend.
“Ah, Acchan, this is Rena-chan, my girlfriend” Jurina introduce her girlfriend to Acchan. “You can be friends with her.”
“Hi, Maeda Atsuko-des, nice to meet you” Acchan shakes her hand with Rena and then the two can get along with each other.
“Anyway, where’s our man?” Kai looks around, looking for Yuu.
“I don’t know, maybe he’s preparing himself inside. Let’s go have a drink first!” Mari takes their friends to get some drinks. When they’re having a chit chat with each other, the band ends the song. The MC gets on the stage again. “Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen! How’s the band??!! Is everyone cheering up the night??!!” People are shouting and cheering, make such a noise there.
“Well, the first thing first, please give applause to our birthday boy Oshima Yuu!!”
People give applause as Yuu comes on stage. He wears such a neat and good looking suit. He takes the microphone from the MC.
“Ahh, good evening everyone! Thank you for coming to my birthday party. I know that we just passed our final exam, so..I hope this party will make your day, not only me but all of us!!” as he finished his words, everyone’s cheering, at the same time, a big birthday cake comes on stage, brought by two women.
Then, Yuu’s parents are coming too. Everyone’s singing happy birthday for him with claps of hands. Then, he puffs out the candles and everyone’s cheering. He starts to slices the cake and gives the first slice to his dad.
“So, let Mr and Mrs Oshima to speak something for Yuu-san’s birthday” the MC gives the microphone to Yuu’s mother.
“Good evening everyone! I know this a special party for youth, we shouldn’t be here as we’re too old for a party like this. But we have to conratulate our only son as he finally passed the exam and now he’s 18. We’re so proud of him even though all his life, we’re so sorry to make him moved from one place to another due to his father’s business” Yuu’s mom talked.
“And talking about that, we make this big party to celebrate his birthday and also as a farewell party for him,” Yuu’s mom continued.
“Ehh?? Really” everyone starts to talk as they hearing the ‘farewell’ word.
“We’re so sorry to inform you all that after the graduation, we’re going to move to Osaka. But I hope it’s not the end of your friendship with our son, Yuu. Right?” she takes a look at Yuu. “So, if anyone of you come to Osaka later, our house is opened for you.”
Yuu smiles and nods.
“And, the last one… We want to inform you that next 3 months, we will hold a party for pur son’s engagement”
Hearing it, Yuu feels a heart attack. Everyone stops talking and listening to what his mom’s saying.
“Engagement?” Acchan thought. Her feeling is in confuse, “Me?”
“Well, the engagement was very long time ago since they’re kids, but we want to hold a proper party to celebrate the engagement between Yuu and Haruna Kojima, so if you don’t mind, you can also come to the party in Osaka”
“Mom!” Yuu whispers, widened his eyes, doing a gesture so that her mom not to tell about that. Yuu looks at direction where Acchan is. This thing is out of his imagination. He never imagined that his parents will tell people about this. Now Acchan knows about it, but this is not the way he purposed to do.
In the other side, Acchan feels like the same heart attack as he heard words “engagement between Yuu and Haruna Kojima”. She quickly leave that place, looking for some place to go.
“So, we hope all of you enjoy the party!!” Yuu’s mom ends the speech.
“Mom!!” Yuu said in hars manner. He noticed that Acchan left that place.
“Yuu-chan, where are you going??” his father calls her as he leaves the stage.
He quickly runs to find Acchan. He sees a girl with white dress walking fast near the swimming pool. He knows exactly that she is Acchan. He quickly runs towards her and grab her wrist.
“Acchan please wait!!”
She tries to escape but Yuu holds her hand tight “Please, let me explain!”
She turns around, her face is wet of tears. “All thie time you’ve been lying” she said, still sobbing. Tears rolling down on her cheek. “You never told me that you will be engaged with other girl. Why?”
“Acchan it’s not my plan. It’s out of my control. I don’t even know that my parents would do this tonight…”
“It’s not about the announcement, I ask you why you hide this from me, Yuu? Why?”
“Acchan, I never lied about my love to you. I love you… “ They start to cry. Both Yuu and Acchan are crying.
“At the time I met you, I was falling for you. I decided to cancel the engagement because I loved you more” Yuu starts to explain. He talks by heart. He talks everything he feels all this time. “But…” he take a breath to speak clearly.
“...day by day, I found that you didn’t love me the way I do. You deserve to love other person than me. In the other side, I can see Haruna is so patient in loving me. She loves me more than you do. That’s why I cancel my purpose to break the engagement. I supposed to tell you but not now, not this way. I didn’t meant to hurt you like this. I’m sorry..”
Acchan stops crying, she so surprised of Yuu’s explanation. She never thought that she made Yuu felt disappointed of her behavior all these times. Acchan doesn’t say anything… The only thing in her mind is her guilty feeling.
Yuu hugs her. “Acchan, I’m sorry for making you sad. I’m sorry for hiding it from you all these times” he cries again.
“I love you, Acchan” then he release the hug. “But I can’t see you love me the way I do. I’m sorry Acchan, I’m sorry..”
Acchan takes a deep breath. Try to hold her tears.
“We can’t make this right, we can’t be together…” Yuu said. They keep silence for a while to make themselves calm down.
Acchan looks up to Yuu. “I’m sorry, Yuu.. I’m sorry if I made you disappointed all these times. I’m sorry I didn’t notice your disappointment…”
“It’s okay, Acchan. Being together with you was always makes me happy. I’m so lucky that I’ve ever been with you.”
“Oshima-san!! Oshima-san where are you?? Your parents calling!!” someone’s calls Yuu, telling him that his parents looking for him.
Yuu wipes Acchan’s tears. “Acchan, the thing that you don’t ever forget, I never lied about my love to you. And… “ he sigh then take a deep breath. “Be true to yourself, you know who’s the one you love so much more than me.”
You leaves Acchan. She stands there in confuse, trying to understand what Yuu meant.
Meanwhile…
Kai noticed that Acchan is gone. He feels so worried about her after the announcement. Then he leave to look for Acchan, but just before he go, Mario stop him. He tells Kai everything so that Kai doesn't think that he was cheating on Acchan. With Mario's polite and wise words, Kai finally understand. But still, he can't accept the way Yuu's parents announced it. “She must be so sad!” he thoughts. Kai looking for Acchan all over the house, but she’s nowhere. Then Kai go outside, the weather is so cold.
Not Acchan that he finds first, he met Yuu outside. With anger in his eyes, Kai quickly punch him and makes him fall down. Yuu hold his cheek, there’s blood near his lips. Kai’s punch is so strong. Yuu doesn’t reply the punh, he stands up and faces Kai.
“How dare you!!” Kai punch him again, Yuu falls down for the second time. Looking at Yuu not giving any revenge, Kai stops hitting him. “Don’t you think that she must be so hurt to hear that?!”
“It’s not my intention, Kai! It’s my parents and I didn’t know they would do it this way!!” Yuu shouts at him. “You’re so lucky to have her love. I’m so envy you, Kai..” Yuu said, smilng at him. “She loves you more than me..”
Hearing what Yuu said, Kai’s not giving any respond. The Yuu pats his shoulder and leaves.
“
She loves you more than me..” that words keep whining in Kai’s head. Kai moves again, he look for Acchan in the yard but no one’s there, and finally, when he reach the swimming pool, there he finds Acchan standing alone near the pool. Looking at the pool and spacing out.
Kai takes of his suite, walks approach behind her and puts it on Acchan’s shoulder to cover her from the coldness.
“be true to yourself, you know who’s the one you love so much more than me” what Yuu said just now keep whining in her head. “The one I love so much more than Yuu..” Acchan thought. Suddenly, Acchan feels so warm, someone’s cover her body with a coat. Acchan turns around, to see who’s covering her body with coat. There she saw Kai standing innocently.
“Kai..” she whispers. She drops another tears.
Kai can see Acchan’s red eyes, she must be cried. Kai raise his hand to her face, wiping the tears from her cheek.
“The party’s boring, let’s go home…” he said while wiping her tears.
Kai takes Acchan walking out from Yuu’s house. They keep silence while walking.

The guests continue to enjoy the party as they don’t know what’s going in behind that announcement.
“You said that you will find a good way to tell her!” Mario said in anger.
“Of course!!” Yuu said, covering his bleeding lips. “It’s not my plan, I didn’t know my parents would do it now!”
“So you’ve explained to Acchan?”
“Uhn.. I told Kai too. I hope they can understand each other’s feeling. And here… look at this” Yuu shows Mario the wound. “Kai punched me hard. I know he loves Acchan, he won’t punch his bestfriend if he doesn’t love her.”
“Geez, your love story is complicated!!” Jurina said.
“So where are they now?” Mario asks Yuu.
“Oh, I saw them holding hands to the parking area. I think they leave…”
“*Sigh… we have to meet them tomorrow” Mario said. “However, we’re bestfriend.”

Acchan stops walking when they arrived at the parking area just near his car. “I don’t wanna go home right now..”
Kai doesn’t say anything. He knows what Acchan feels. She needs a place to think and calm herself down. Then Kai walks to the car, he asks Kine to go home and he takes the car by himself.
Kai takes Acchan to a peace place near the beach. He parks his car near a café, the place where Uncle Sae took him to when he was a kid. The place where he found out about his parents’ death. They get out from the car, Acchan walk in front of the car and sit on a bench near while Kai go to the café and order two cups of macchiato.
He comes back to where Acchan is, sitting on the bench beside her while watching the beach. Kai gives one cup to Acchan. They drink it, but don’t say any words. Kai want to let her calm down, he doesn’t want to ask her anything. “Girls need time to be alone..” he thought.
Acchan finished her coffee, slowly she rests her head on Kai’s right shoulder. Kai’s heart beats fast. As the weather getting colder, Kai takes her to move in the car. Acchan ask him to sit on the backseat with her, then they sit on the backseat together. Acchan lays her head on Kai’s shoulder again, now her hands pull him and place it around his waist, hugging him tightly but still doesn’t say anything.

~ Kai ~
I can’t blame Yuu for all the things happened. It was not his intention to tell Atsuko about his engagement that way. And also, it was not his parents’ mistake because they didn’t even know that Yuu had already a girlfriend. No, I can’t blame anybody.
Honestly, I don’t know what to do now. I became the one who ruined their relationship because of Yuu thought that Atsuko loves me more than him. Could I be blamed? Ugh, I don’t know. Really, I’m confused right now. The point is… if Yuu feels that way, it means… Atsuko loves me? Really? I thought that her ‘love’ all this time is just a ‘motherly love’, because... you know, long time ago I kissed her subconsciously and she pushed me away. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
~ Acchan ~
Honestly, I’m still confused about my feeling. Yes, thinking about what You said, I guess he’s right. I love Kai more than Yuu. I feel guilty not only for Yuu, but for Kai too. Then I thought about the kiss Kai gave long time ago. Yes, Kai said he just out of control. But when I pushed him away, Kai look so disappointed.
“So, does Kai loves me since that day? So all this time I just made him hurt by getting on my relationship with Yuu in front him without noticing that he loves me too?? And the other way, I let Yuu hurt by seeing me so care and love Kai more than him as my boyfriend. I made him disappointed. I feel sorry about that. I’m the one who is being so cruel here. I’ve hurt everyone.

Kai comfort himself, place Acchan on his embrace. Slowly, she’s falling asleep on Kai’s embrace, Kai can feel her breath on his chest. They stay like that until the next morning without words.

A man just woken up in early morning. The sun starts to rise as it shines its gold ray of light through his window that faces the beach. The beautiful sunrise view he usually see everyday. He turns on his computer while makes up his bed. Then, a chat message appears on the screen on the desk. A man opens and read it. It’s from his old friend that lives overseas.
Takahashi : “Hey beachboy! How are you?”
“Wow such a coincidence,” he murmured, then he replies the message.
Makoto : “Never feel this better! It’s such a coincidence. Long time no see you. When you’ll back to Japan?”
Takahashi : “Ah, sorry. Last week I came back to Japan. Sorry I didn’t visit your cafe”
Makoto : “Ehh.. you forgot your bestfriend huh?”
Takahashi : “Sorry, really sorry. I had a lot of works and also had to watch Kai for his exam”
Makoto : “Oh, Kai, your nephew, right? He’s here”
Takahashi : “Seriously? Is it too early morning in Japan, right?”
Makoto : “Yeah, he bought two coffee last night, and now he’s still here”
Takahashi : “Eh?”
Makoto : “He’s with a girl. They came here last night, sitting on a bench then get in the car. I can still see his car there now”
Takahashi : “He drove by himself?”
Makoto : “Yes…”
Takahashi: “Oh, okay. Thanks for your information. I think I have to check him, okay. Bye”

Sae quickly take his phone and call Kine.
“Good morning, Sir” Kine answers the call.
“Ah, Kine-san. Where’s Kai?” Sae asks him straight to the point.
“Ano.. Last night he went to a birthday party. But then, Kai asked me to go home and he took the car” Kine explained. “He hasn’t come back yet until this morning.”
“Can I talk to Acchan?”
“She’s with him, that’s why I let him go last night. Acchan’s with him…”
“Ehh?? Souka…so the girl that Makoto said is Acchan” Sae thought.
“Sir, is there anything you want me to tell him?”
“Umm, no.. just asking. Okay thank you, bye” Sae ended the conversation.
Sitting in his working room, Sae’s is thinking about his only nephew..
“What’s going on between them? Spending the night in a car near the beach? Are they…….”
