Chapter 3 - The outcome
Yuko and Minami both took off in opposite directions and each stood to one side of their attacker. The two of them knew their only advantage was that they outnumbered him since he had age, size and most likely power over them. However, he was also drunk, and hopefully that’d give the two idols a lead as well. Their attacker darted his gaze back and forth looking between the two girls, unsure who to go after first. Eventually he turned to Minami and advanced.
The leader was alright with this, she wanted to keep his attention away from Yuko, and the ace could maybe find an opening to take the guy down. That’s it; just keep making your way forward. Minami kept backing up slowly, honestly if I can kill time without having to fight for the police to come, that’d be great. She kept sidestepping back and forth, avoiding his advances, but not moving too far away so he wouldn’t change targets. Yuko kept close behind him in case he’d make any sudden movements, but also attempted to stay clear for the moment to go along with the leaders plan.
The attacker was however growing frustrated, out of nowhere he sprinted and leaped at the younger girl who was caught off guard but managed to duck the fist he threw. He gave her no chance to move back and he threw another punch that came so close to the leaders face that it caused her bangs to flutter. That was too close! Before he could advance again, he and the leader both heard a loud whistle. The assailant turned to the sound and saw Yuko waving. Minami took the chance to attack from behind. Well, it always works on TV...Were her thoughts as she slid her right leg behind her, then threw it forward in a kicking motion and nailed the guy right where it hurt. The drunk yelled out in pain and fell on his knees.
The ace decided to take this opportunity for herself. “He pal, now I can reach your face.” When he looked up as she spoke, she nailed him with a right hook to the face that made both him and her cry out in pain. “Damn! Punching someone really hurts!” she said as she waved the hand she socked him with in the air. Just when the two thought they could relax for a bit, the attacker angrily stood up, facing the actress.
“Yuko watch out!” Minami called taking a step forward, although the attacker instantly whirled around at her and threw a kick. The leader hadn’t seen it coming, she believed he was advancing on Yuko and got too close. His shoe made painful contact on the right side of her ribs that literally sent her flying off her feet and to the ground. Before she could recover, he threw another kick to her stomach while she was on the floor. “Ugh!” she cried out, trying to block her stomach before he could strike again. He didn’t get the chance as Yuko charge him, ignoring the immense pain from her sprained ankle and slammed her shoulder into the guy, pushing him away from Minami and into the near wall.
The attacker recovered, reached out and grabbed Yuko by the collar. “I don’t want to hu..rt you. But if you keep resisting, I will.” He thrust his knee into Yuko’s stomach, making her cough up saliva and lose her breath. He then threw her to the floor beside where Minami lay.
Yuko opened her eyes after making contact with the floor and turned her head to look at Minami who looked back at her, still trying to catch her breath. “I thought you weren’t going to channel the part of Minami from Majisuka that got her butt kicked,” Yuko jokingly scolded.
“Yah... well she gets more credit, she never fought back, but we are and we’re still getting our butts kicked.” Minami pointed out.
“Well you know whose butt I really want to kick. The cops. Remind me to file a complaint once this is over on how slow their service is” Yuko grinned.
Minami tried smiling as well and said, “Noted.” This was what the two of them needed. They’d keep making remarks like these that promised that they’d get through this just fine.
Minami saw a hand reach down and grab Yuko by her collar again, lifting her back up on her feet. Their attacker began to drag the actress once again to his car, attempting to flee. The leader quickly lifted herself from the ground, noting that breathing was becoming painful and so was moving. She touched her ribs where the drunk landed a kick and felt pain. Not wanting to focus on that at the moment, she ran towards him before he could get further. Don’t go counting me out you bastard! Hearing her approach, the drunk harshly threw the ace against the wall and struck Minami directly on the face with his fist. The world exploded in colors for a second in the leaders eyes. She staggered backwards trying to get her vision back but was too dizzy. She kept backing up until she hit the wall behind her and slowly slid down to be seated on the floor. No...No...Not the time to lose consciousness Minami. The leaders’ vision was flickering on and off. First she’d see black, and then she’d see the guys’ feet slowly approaching her.
---------------------------------------------------
Yuko held on to her left shoulder where he’d slammed her to the wall. She frantically looked around trying to find anything to use as a weapon against the guy to stop him from approaching her friend. A few feet away from her, she saw something with a light shine under the beat up dumpster. As quickly as she could, she made her way there and bent down, reaching for the object with her good arm. Please....Please let it be something useful.
---------------------------------------------------
Minami saw his feet stop directly in front of her. Two hands came down and grabbed her by her collar and lifted her to her feet. She tried to claw at his hands with what energy she had left but his grip wasn’t loosening. Just then, she saw a figure approach the guy from behind, holding something over its head. “You won’t get in my way anymo...Ah!” Before he could finish, the figure behind him swung the object directly towards his head and hit him on his temple. He freed Minami and fell to the ground; blood trickling where the crowbar, as Minami could tell now, had hit him.
“You know, I’d usually complain about people leaving dangerous things lying around, but in this case...thank god.” Yuko said as she dropped down beside the leader, exhausted. Minami was finally regaining her clear sight and gave Yuko a smile.
“You look like crap,” she let out a little laugh.
Yuko grinned, “That’s my line Takahashi. ...We’re definitely getting lectured once we get back for not taking care of our image as idols...Then again; we always tend to give the word ‘idol’ a new meaning.”
The two girls both laughed, though Minami winced when she did, her ribs still hurting. In the distance, the two of them could hear the faint sound of sirens.
Before the two could let out a sigh of relief, they heard shuffling just across them. Looking, they saw the attacker slowly getting up, staggering as he did so. “You’ve got to be kidding. Were their steroids in that guys drink” Yuko said baffled.
Both her and Minami were panicking, they didn’t have much energy left, and to make it worse, as he stood up, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a switch blade, unleashing the blade.
The leader was definitely scared, after all that, with rescue so close by, they could end up dead. After all their stupid bickering and promises to make it out of this, would it just end here? No. No! I can’t think like that. We can’t give up now. “Yuko. Remember when I helped you get that microphone off the top shelf during rehearsals. You said, ‘there’s nothing we can’t do when we’re together!’ and I honestly believe that. I know it may be stupid to say in this situation, but I wanted you to know I agreed.”
Yuko smiled and grabbed hold of Minami’s hand. “It’s fine. I like that you’re not afraid to say stupid stuff. Like that whole ‘You’ll never lose your light as long as you’re you’ thing you said to cheer me up. Besides...” Yuko said as she stood and directed Minami to stand with her as they stared at the deranged man holding a knife in front of them, waiting for god knows what. “Our scariest challenge it yet to come. General election is around the corner, the members won’t forgive us if we’re not there... And Atsuko won’t forgive you if you skip out on the dinner plans you arranged with her!”
Minami laughed. “I’d be mad at you for most likely going through my phone to find that out, but you don’t need to remind me of all that. I know. So I say...we actually fight the way that we know how right now, since clearly channelling our fictional selves from Majiuska won’t work out against knife guy over there.”
"Yah we're not exactly fighters are we" Yuko agreed.
The leader and ace were both on the same page. Even with a crowbar, they both doubted they could move fast and strong enough to fight the guy, especially when he had a knife. If they messed up, the consequences would be too severe.
“Right, so let’s show him how idols handle things” Yuko said. What they both needed now, was time. A distraction. They could hear the sirens getting closer and just had to make sure the drunk wouldn’t make any moves.
“In your position...set!” Minami shouted, taking their attacker by surprise as he stopped before advancing. Minami left some distance between her and Yuko and both moved away from the wall.
“1! 2! 1, 2, 3, 4!” Yuko shouted. Then the two of them danced and sang together.
“I want you~ I need you~ I love you~ Atama no naka ~~ Gan-gan natteru music, Hebii~ ro-ta-tion!”
The two were putting everything they had left to sing and dance to one of their most popular songs, and ignored the pain in their muscles. The attacker dropped the knife to his side and stood there...just watching. At first he was confused, but then he looked like a really excited fan watching a concert. “Amazing! I’m watching heavy rotation being performed by two top members of AKB!”
The two kept singing, and once they got to the chorus the 3rd time during the song, they heard people shouting,
“Drop the knife!”
“Put your hands up against the wall”
The cops arrived and tried their best to ignore the two idols performing once they spotted them all. Instead using the distraction to approach them at a closer distance. The attacker was caught off guard and dropped the knife since he had guns aimed at him. Two offices grabbed him and put his hands behind his back as they cuffed him.
The two girls had stopped performing, catching their breath. “Well it’s about time” Yuko huffed as she dropped herself to the floor, no longer able to withstand the pain emitting from her ankle. Minami dropped beside the actress, “do you think we can postpone our plans to grab something to eat. I’m feeling pretty sleepy”
“No objection here leader, I’m also beat. I’m sure the girls won’t mind us missing out on practice in the morning” Yuko said as she and Minami leaned into each other and closed their eyes as a few paramedics made their way over to the two sleeping girls, who held a peaceful smile as they slept regardless of what had just went down.
