Chapter 2 - A Look At The Past
Acchan and Takamina were walking their way back to the Akihabara Girls University
Takamina’s POV
(we’re on our way back, and I still didn’t ask her about it)
“Takamina, is something bothering you? you seem to be uneasy the whole time” Acchan asked Takamina.
Takamina’s POV
(Great, now I’m the one with the problem. What’s wrong with me why can’t I ask her about some simple matter)
“it’s nothing. I guess I’m just stress about our first live performance for the opening of the club recruitment?” Takamina replied.
“I see” Acchan said while walking and looking down on the ground.
They we’re already at the tree path and getting nearer and nearer back at the Theater Stage Club
“Ah, Acchan?” Takamina suddenly blurted out after halting on her steps.
“Hmm?” Acchan replied before noticing that Takamina had stopped on her tracks.
“Is there a problem, you seem to be behaving in a unusual manner this past few days?” Takamina finally asked.
“I don’t have a problem Takamina” Acchan answered before she continue to walk down the path
“Are you sure? You can tell me about it. I’m sure Yuko and I—“ Takamina said before she was interrupted by Acchan.
“You know what Takamina. I know you’re trying to be the leader that everyone want’s you to be. But meddling with other people’s business is as far as you leadership goes” Acchan suddenly angrily blurted out before running down to the tree path and make her way back to the Theater Stage Club.
“Other. . .people’s business. . . .but Acchan. . .aren’t I your. . . . .bestfriend” Takamina said sadly and slowly shocked at what Acchan had said while looking at the promise bracelet she and Acchan have a long time ago.
====Flashback===
----Akihabara Junior Highschool Main Entrance Gate----
“Oi, Takamina” Yuko shouted to Takamina who was waiting for her on gate entrance.
“Yuu-chan, you’re late. You said we should be here around 5:30. It’s already 6:00!” Takamina said a little angry.
“Gomen, Gomen. I overslept because I watched Majisuka Gakuen last night” Yuko explains.
“No wonder that was a midnight show. You should have sleep earlier” Takamina said somewhat scolding Yuko.
“Hai, Hai” Yuko replied back smiling.
“Good” Takamina said while folding her hands on her chest.
“though you sounded like my mother” Yuko said whispering to herself.
“Did you say something Yuuchan?” Takamina asked.
“Nothing, Ma’m” Yuko said sarcastically.
“Let’s go now. Micchan, Sae and Sayaka might be in there now. Waiting for us” Takamina said.
said while she and Yuko run as fast as they can to the quadrangle.
====Quadrangle ====
Bulletin Board (Classroom Assignment Sheets)
“there’s too many student I can’t see a thing” Takamina said frustrated while trying to make her way to the front of the Bulletin Board.
“Okay,Wait, here Takamina I’ll make my way into these cluster of people” Yuko said to Takamina.
“Wait, Yuko!” Takamina shouted but Yuko was already making her way into the bulletin board.
Takamina looked down and saw a handkerchief lying on the ground and she picked it up.
But. . .
“Itai!” Takamina said painfully because someone had bumped her head while she pick up the handkerchief and then she looked up and a saw a short-hair girl rubbing her forehead who’s looking straight into her eyes.Takamina don’t know why but the time suddenly seems to stop momentarily.
“Gomen, is this your handkerchief?” Takamina asked the girl who was looking at her while she’s handling the handkerchief to her. But the girl just snatch the handkerchief without saying anything and runaway.
“Oi, chotto matte!!” Takamina shouted but the girl just continued running.
“Oi, Takamina. I already looked up our names on the Bulletin Board. . .guess what?” Yuko said excitedly while looking at Takamina but Takamina seems dazed while looking out nowhere.
“Takamina? Takamina? Hello? Yu-Ho?” Yuko said while waving her hand infront of Takamina’s face and then followed Takamina’s gaze which seems to go nowhere this made Yuko sigh.
“Takamina! There’s spider on your feet!!” Yuko shouted to Takamina.
“Eeeeeeek!!” Takamina shrieked and then jumped thinking that a spider is really crawling on her feet.
“WHAHAHAHAHA!!” Yuko laughed while looking at Takamina who was still jumping around.
“YUUKOOO!!” Takamina shouted before slapping Yuko on the shoulder.
“HAHAHAHA!! you should have seen the looked on your face” Yuko said while still laughing hard.
“What’s that for?” Takamina said angrily
“Are you joking? I was calling your name several times but you seem not to hear me” Yuko explains ceasing her laughter.
“Eh, really?” Takamina asked.
“Really, what are you looking at anyway?” Yuko answered.
“Ah, it’s nothing.” Takamina replied.
“Oh, yeah guess what?. . . .WE’RE ON THE SAME CLASS!!” Yuko said happily while holding Takamina’s hand.
“Eh, URESHII!!” Takamina said while she and Yuko jumped around while holding her hands also.
“Now, where are Micchan and the twin towers?” Yuko said while looking left and right.
“Takamina! Yuko!” Sae said while waving her hand in the air.
“We’ve been waiting for you guys here. what took you so long?” Sayaka asked,
“Well, Yuko here over--” Takamina said but was interrupted.
“What classroom are you guys anyway?” Yuko said interrupting Takamina.
“Class 1-A” Sae said.
“Eh, no way!! We’re Class 1-A too” Yuko and Takamina said happily.
“Really!? No way!?” Sayaka and Micchan said happily.
“Looks like we’re really destined to be together guys” Sae said smiling.
The School Bell Rings
“Well, let’s go now the class is already beginning” Yuko said before she, Sae, Sayaka and Takamina walked their way into their classroom
====CLASS 1-A====
“Ohayou, Gozaimasu” The teacher had said after entering the classroom.
“Ohayou, Gozaumasu” The student replied back.
“Okay, I’m - -“ The teacher was interrupted because someone suddenly had opened the classroom door.
“Ah, Gomenasai” The short hair girl said.
“it’s fine, you must have lost your way here but be sure not to be late for next time” The teacher said calmly.
Takamina’s POV
(“Eh, isn’t she the girl who dropped her handkerchief”)
“Hai, Gomenasai” the short hair girl said.
“Okay, you may go now to your seat, there beside the girl with a big ribbon on her head” The teacher instructed. Yuko and Micchan can be heard chuckling who was sitting infront of Takamina.
Takamina’s POV
(Eh, Why beside me? this is gonna be awkward and is my ribbon does really standouts?)
“Hai” the short hair girl replied then the girl walk and was gonna take her seat but stop after realizing that her seatmate was the girl who she bumped in earlier.
“Is there a problem?” the Teacher asked the short hair girl just who just nodded her head then take her seat beside Takamina.
“Okay class, as I was saying I’m Ms.Sawako Yamanaka. Just call me Ms. Sawako” Ms. Sawako said while writing her name down on the blackboard.
“I’m gonna be your adviser for the whole school year. so we’re gonna start the class by partnering you guys up and let your partner introduce yourself. Okay so, your seatmates are gonna be your partner”Ms. Sawako said to the class.
Takamina’s POV
(What the hell is this really happening? After what happen earlier, I’m gonna be paired to her and worse introduce her. So, it only mean that I must converse with her.)
Takamina looked to the short-hair girl to her side and saw that she’s looking at her also but looked away when she saw Takamina was looking at her.
“Okay, guys you have 20mins to talk to each other. So, start now” Ms.Sawako instructed.
Takamina’s POV
(I guess, I have no choice but to talk to her)
“Ah, hello--“ Takamina said but stop when someone opened the classroom door. It was a teacher who called Ms. Sawako.
“Students, we’ll do this activity tomorrow. the teacher’s have a sudden meeting. but we’ll start the class tomorrow with this activity. So, considered this as an assignment. Okay, class dismissed” Ms. Sawako said before going out to the classroom.
Lunch Time
“Huuuuuuuhaaaaa” Yuko yawn while stretching her hand in the air.
“See, I told you. you should have sleep earlier” Takamina said reminding Yuko again.
“Hay, Takamina how many times would you say that today. anyway” Yuko said while yawning again.
“well, how long did you made me wait? Where’s Sae and Sayaka anyway?” Takamina said but noticed that the short-hair girl leave the classroom all by herself.
Takamina’s POV
(Is she gonna be eating all by herself? Maybe she’s a loner but that’s no reason to just snatch the handkerchief to me after I picked it up for her without even saying anything?)
“they go to the toilet. anyway, let’s go eat now but aren’t you gonna invite your seatmate?” Yuko said smiling.
“why would I do that?” Takamina asked.
“Didn’t Ms. Sawako said that the activity of introducing your seatmate is gonna be an assignment now? beside my partner is Micchan and Sae and Sayaka are also partner” Yuko said.
“Yeah, aren’t you gonna invite her? This is the perfect time to ask her some questions.” Micchan asked.
Takamina’s POV
(Oh yeah, I forgot all about that)
“Ah, Yuko, Micchan wait here I’m just gonna invite my seatmate.” Takamina said before going out and chase the the short-hair girl.
“Okay” Yuko said before approaching her seatmate
Takamina’s POV
“Where is that girl anyway?, she couldn’t have gone that far” Takamina’s thoughts while running around looking for the girl
“Oi, Takamina where are you going” Sae asked Takamina who she saw on the hallway.
“Yeah, we’re gonna eat now” Sayaka said.
“Well, I was gonna invite my seatmate for our assignment to Ms.Sawako tomorrow” Takamina explain.
“Ah, you mean the short-hair girl? I saw her go upstairs?” Sae asked.
“Maybe she’ll eat at the rooftop” Sayaka said.
“how did you get that idea?” Sae asked Sayaka.
“well, isn’t that the place where a loner student go on mangas and anime” Sayaka said.
“you’d been reading a lot of mangas and watch anime this days” Sae said.
Takamina’s POV
(I don’t have time for this)
“Okay, guys wait for me. I’m just gonna invite her to join us” Takamina said before going upstairs to chase the girl.
“Okay, we’ll wait for you” Sae said before she and Sayaka made their way back to the classroom.
=====On the Rooftop====
Takamina’s POV
(Sayaka is right she’s here.I guess anime and manga is kinda real on the surface.)
The short-hair girl was just leaning on the fences looking at the view below her.Takamina walked down slowly thinking on how to approach her.
“Ano’ you’re my partner for tomorrow’s assignment” Takamina said unsure of what to say next but the girl just remain silent.
“Ah, want to eat lunch together?” Takamina said again but still no response.
“Uh, so we can talk about what we should do” Takamina said
“ I would just give you information about myself on a written paper” Acchan said.
“But that’s not what Ms. Sawako said. she said we should--”’ Takamina said.
“I’m sorry but I want to eat alone” the short-hair girl said but Takamina stopped her by grasping her hand.
“Let me go!! I don’t want to talk to you!!”Acchan said trying to let go of Takamina’s grasp on her hand.
Someone opened the rooftop door
“Oi, Takamina” Yuko said but surprised at what she saw.
“Yuko? what are you doing here? Takamina asked.
“Are we interrupting something?”Micchan said.
“Ah, No!” Takamina said before letting go of the short-hair girl hand.
“Well, Sayaka and Sae said you’re gonna go to the rooftop. So, we decided to go here and eat our lunch here also” Yuko explain and just ignored what she saw.
“well, what are the two of you doing there. Let’s go eat now” Sae asked.
“Ah, yeah but” Takamina said.
“Arigatou, but I want to eat alone” Acchan said
“ Eat alone? Come on let’s go eat lunch together. I don’t take no for an answer” Yuko said before taking the hands of the short hair girl to the spot where they will eat their lunch.
Takamina’s POV
(Yuko is really a happy-go-lucky girl. Always doing what she wants without even thinking twice about it)
“Takamina what are you standing in there. Come on let’s go eat now” Sayaka called.
“Ah, yeah” Takamina answered.
“Ano’—“ the short girl was gonna say but was interrupted.
“So, what’s your name?” Yuko asked the short-hair girl.
“Maeda Atsuko” the short hair girl replied shyly.
“Atsuko, Atsuko, Ah,why not we call you now Acchan, yeah it does sounds good” Yuko said smiling.
“Acchan?” Acchan said hesitating if she should accept the nickname given to her.
“Ah, by the way I’m Yuko. my nickname is Korin or Korisu but you can call me just Yuko” Yuko said while shaking Acchan’s hand.
“Ah Hai” Acchan said.
“This is Takamina, you know your partner for the assignment, Sae, Sayaka and Micchan” Yuko said smiling.
“Yoroshiku” Micchan, Sayaka and Sae said to Acchan.
“Ah, yeah Maeda-san” Takamina said
“Call her Acchan now” Yuko insist while opening her bento.
“But isn’t that too early to call her by her nickname?” Takamina asked.
“Hay, that’s where’s it going to lead anyway” Yuko said.
Everybody started eating their lunch
“yeah, by the way. Acchan is kawaii desho ne’” Micchan said while looking at Acchan.
“yeah she is” Yuko said while smiling this made Acchan blushed.
“what school are you from?” Sae said.
“I studied elementary here” Acchan said.
“Eeeeh, really how come we didn’t see you we also study elementary in here?” Sayaka asked.
“well, I don’t really hangout with my classmates. I go straight home after school”Acchan explain.
“Eh, isn’t that lonely?’ Sayaka asked.
“not really since I can spend more time with my family” Acchan answered.
“hmmm…well, you should hangout with us now” Yuko said smiling.
“Yeah, you should it’s much fun to have friends” Micchan said
“But…” Acchan said.
“No but’s! I don’t take but’s as an answer also” Yuko said smiling interrupting Acchan.
Takamina’s POV
(How come they are the one interviewing her when I should be the one to do so.
Oh, well. I guess they somehow break the ice. It would not be much difficult to ask her some questions now)
“your partner is Takamina right, well she tell uninteresting stories so, you should refuse if ever she said she will tell a story” Sae said.
“Yeah, be sure to refuse if she offer” Micchan said.
“Ah, guys stop it. Of course it’s funny. You guys just don’t get it” Takamina said defensively.
“yeah, that’s the problem you’re the only who understands it” Yuko said while she, Sae, Sayaka and Micchan laugh.
“yeah, right. One day you’ll laugh on my interesting story” Takamina said.
“Ah, by the way what is your hobby Acchan?” Micchan asked.
“I don’t really have any hobby” Acchan answered.
“what show do you watch?” Yuko asked.
“well, recently I’m watching Majisuka Gakuen” Acchan answered.
“Really?! We also watched it too” Yuko said happily.
“who’s your favorite character?” Sayaka asked.
“Atsuko” Acchan answered.
“well, she’s cute isn’t she even if she’s wearing eye glass but did you see Gakuran. She’s so kakkoii” Sae said while everyone listen.
“Maeda-san, do you want some?” Takamina asked while offering her bento.
“Ah, no thanks” Acchan answered.
“are you sure? I don’t mind” Takamina said.
“Ah, ano’ earlier I was” Acchan said.
“it’s nothing” Takamina said while smiling.
“But I just snatched my handkerchief from your hands and then I just ran away without even saying a word and then I said--” Acchan said.
“Don’t worry I’m not angry. I was just surprised that you suddenly ran away” Takamina said.
Interrupting Acchan.
“Really, you’re not angry. If you want to I’ll just leave”Acchan said worriedly.
“No, it’s fine. Just don’t do it again okay?” Takamina said smiling.
“Hai, Arigatou” Acchan said.
“Acchan did you watch last night’s episode?” Yuko asked Acchan
“Uhmm…yeah. Torigoya’s episode” Acchan answered.
“that was interesting wasn’t it” Yuko said.
“yeah, Atsuko remembered her friend Minami but she blamed herself for her dead” Acchan said finally smiling.
Takamina’s POV
(wow, that was the first time today that she said something long. Yuko is really something)
“isn’t Minami kinda look liked Takamina?” Micchan said.
“Yeah she is. even the height. Ne’ Acchan” Sae said laughing.
“Uhmm…Hai” Acchan answered laughing a little then everybody laugh also.
“See Takamina?” Sae said.
“Oi, chotto. I’m still young I can still grow up” Takamina said defensively but was happy that she saw Acchan laugh.
On the way home
“Acchan, where is your way home?” Yuko asked.
“well, I’m gonna take a bus” Acchan answered,
“good Takamina and I also take a bus home” Yuko said.
“Ah, yeah” Takamina said.
“Okay, here is the bus stop” Sae said.
“We’ll leave you guys here now” Micchan said.
“Bye, everyone” Takamina and Yuko said while waving her hand.
“See, you guys tomorrow” Sayaka said.
“Bye” Acchan said while nodding her head.
The three entered the bus but since Yuko was the one walking infront she sit on the one that has another person on it over the seat that has no occupant at all thinking that this is the right time Takamina should ask Acchan about some further questions.
Bus On the way home
“Okay, guys. I’m already at my destination. So, see you tomorrow” Yuko said winking to Takamina before walking her way down the bus.
“Bye” Takamina said.
“Have a safe way home” Acchan said.
Yuko waved at them outside the bus while Acchan and Takamina waved at her also.
Now, only Takamina and Acchan are left on the bus.
Takamina’s POV
(Why this awkward moment again?)
“Ah, Maeda-san. Sorry for my friends action earlier especially Yuko” Takamina apologized,
“It’s nothing. Actually I should be thanking you though I acted somewhat harsh on you” Acchan said
“don’t apologized. It’s not of a big deal. I’m actually kinda like you before I met those guys” Takamina said.
“Really? How come?” Acchan asked interestedly.
“Well, I’m also a loner. I don’t have any friends. often my classmates would made insulting remarks about me until some kids tried to hurt me but then Yuko came and defended me. And that’s when I started hanging out with those guys and stop being a loner” Takamina said.
“I see, so I’m not the only one?” Acchan said.
“you’re right so, from now on hangout with us” Takamina offered.
“Uhmm…Hai” Acchan said smiling.
“Okay, Maeda-san My house is already near so, I’m gonna go now. Bye” Takamina said while standing up.
“Bye” Acchan said.
“Goodbye Maeda-san. See you tomorrow!” Takamina said smiling before walking her way out of the bus.
“Ano’ call me Acchan” Acchan said smiling while standing up. This made Takamina stop midway and looked back
“Ah, hmmm. Bye Acchan!” Takamina said while nodding happily.
Takamina was already outside but she saw Acchan looking at her from the bus window waving at her. And she wave back to her smiling.
On the next day
Art Class
“We’re going to make a friendship bracelet. I’m going to pair you guys. You should exchange the friendship bracelet that you made to your partner. Take this opportunity to be good friends with someone and if ever that friendship is remove then it only means the friendship is over. Do you understand?”Mr.kirijo said.
“Hai” the students replied.
Okay so, Miyazawa Sae and Akimoto Sayaka, Oshima Yuko and Minegishi Minami and last Maeda Atsuko and Takahashi Minami. There are many materials here choose what you think you needed. So start now.” Mr. Kirijo said.
After everyone had made their friendship bracelet.
“Okay, guys time’s up. We already extended our time. now so, class dismissed” Mr. Kirijo said.
On the way home
“Did you guys already exchanged the friendship bracelet” Yuko asked.
“Yeah, we did look” Sae said while lifting up her hand to show the friendship bracelet she and Sayaka exchanged.
“Well, Yuko and I decided to just keep it until we found who is really are bestfriend” Micchan said.
“Why don’t the two of you considered each other bestfriend?’ Takamina asked.
“Yuko and I are not bestfriend. We’re partners in crime” Micchan answered.
“Yeah” Yuko said while she and Micchan laugh.
Takamina’s POV
(what the hell is this two thinking about. Probably some adult stuff that these two have been up lately)
“Ah, yeah did you and Acchan exchanged bracelet?” Sayaka asked.
“Uh, no. we decide to keep it also” Takamina said.
“it’s good that you and Sae are bestfriend. Isn’t it wonderful” Acchan said.
“well, sayaka and I have been together since she’s wetting her bed” Sae said jokingly while laughing and then everybody laugh at Sae’s joke also.
“what? don’t believe her. She’s the one who’s wetting her bed” Sayaka defended.
Takamina’s POV
(bestfriend? I wonder if I’m going to have one someday)
The day before Junior highschool graduation
Acchan and Takamina decided to walk their way home.
“Hey, why don’t we stop here for a moment?’ Acchan said to Takamina.
“Okay, it’s still early anyway” Takamina said before following Acchan.
Takamina and Acchan sit down on a brick hillside (note: the one like Majisuka Gakuen episode 10 where Atsuko and Minami sit down to take their oath)
“Can’t believe it’s three years already and now we’re going to graduate junior high and then we’re gonna be highschool student now” Acchan said.
“Yeah, many things have changed especially you?” Takamina said smiling.
“You’re right, if weren’t for you guys I think I would still be the same lonely girl I had been in elementary. But I guess I owe most to you” Acchan said smiling.
“Eh, why me? Yuko was the one who drag you to eat with us” Takamina said surprised at what Acchan had said.
“yeah, but you could have just let me go and accepted my offer to you to just give you a written paper about myself but you didn’t and you could have just ignore me the whole time in the bus but you tell me about your dark past” Acchan said seriously.
“it’s nothing. You don’t have to thanked me” Takamina said smiling.
“Ano’ Takamina” Acchan said while getting something on her bag.
“Hmmm” Takamina said while looking at the scenery infront of her.
“Here” Acchan said while handling Takamina a bracelet.
“Eh, Acchan isn’t this?!!” Takamina said surprised.
“Yeah, it is” Acchan said smiling.
“Are you gonna give it to Yuko? well you should ha---“Takamina said but was interrupted by Acchan.
“What are you talking about. It’s for you silly” Acchan said while taking it the friendship bracelet and putting it to Takamina’s hand.
“Eh, Acchan are you sure. You can take it back. I’m not gonna be angry” Takamina said trying to stop Acchan from putting the friendship bracelet on her hand.
“Hay, Takamina you’re so stubborn. Here let me put it on your hand” Acchan said while putting the friendship bracelet on Takamina.
“See, it look good on you” Acchan said smiling while looking how it fit Takamina.
“Acchan, I” Takamina said.
“Don’t worry you don’t have to do the same thing” Acchan said while standing up and walking her way down the road again.
“Acchan” Takamina shouted while showing Acchan the friendship bracelet she made a long time ago.
“Ehh!!, you didn’t give it to someone also” Acchna said surprised.
“well, yeah. I didn’t I actually saved it for someone who I can call bestfriend” Takamina said while walking down the hillside to where Acchan was.
“Here” Takamina said while putting the friendship bracelet on Acchan also.
“Eh, Takamina are you sure?” Acchan said.
“I’m sure” Takamina said smiling.
“Promise to never take it off?” Acchan said.
“Promise. And could you promise too to never take it off?” Takamina replied.
“Promise” Acchan said taking her oath.
“can’t believe that after our not so good meeting. we’ll end us bestfriends” Acchan said smiling.
‘Yeah, bestfriends” Takamina said smiling also.
“Okay, race contest. Loser buy ice cream!!” Acchan said while running.
“Oi, Chotto” Takamina said while running after Acchan.
“You’re so slow Takamina” Acchan shouted while running.
“Well, it’s unfair you started running before informing me” Takamiina shouted back at Acchan.
====Present====
Takamina was a meters away on the Theater Stage and she saw Acchan waiting for her.
“you’re slow, everyone is gonna be worried about us. So, let’s go inside now”Acchan said without even looking back and enter the theater stage club.
Takamina’s POV
(Acchan…what’s the matter?)
