Hereby, I present you...
Chapter 4Jurina opened her eyes. She was lying on a bed, alone inside a dark room. She then got up and reached out to turn on the light. When the light was on, she looked around the room. The room was painted in pink. The room only had a small window, a queen-sized bed, a book shelf with several story books in it, and two doors. One door was leading to the bathroom while the other door was locked. Suddenly, the locked door opened and someone walked in. It was a man probably in his 50s, his hair already thinned out, a bit fat and not to tall. He walked towards Jurina and grabbed her arms harshly then tossed her on the bed. Jurina looked at him with fear. He then got on the bed and pinned her down. Jurina tried to push him away, but she’s not strong enough. Jurina screamed, asking, no, begging for someone to help her. But, the man slapped her hard on her face. The slap made Jurina felt a bit dizzy. She was getting more frightened. She started to cry and begged the man to stop, but the man only laughed. He didn’t bother with Jurina’s cry and pleas for him to stop and to let her go, instead he slapped her several times. Jurina was sobbing heavily. Her cheeks hurt and she can also taste her own blood in her mouth. The man smirked then got his face close to hers. She can smell mix of alcohol and cigarette from him. Jurina tried to look away, but he cupped her chin and made her looked at him. The man then kissed Jurina’s lips forcefully.

Jurina jerked up from her dream while pointing her gun that she has been hiding under her pillow at the emptiness in front of her. She was breathing heavily and her body was drenched in cold sweat. When she finally realized that she was alone inside her hotel room, she put the gun down and leaned her body at the headboard. Jurina glanced at the clock at the bedside table. 4:17 A.M. She took a deep breath and tried to relax. It had been two days since she left Rena and her painful childhood memories began to haunt her again. It was the moment in her life that she resents the most. The memories she wished she could just forget, but she couldn’t. When she was with Rena, she could forget about it, but now they were apart, her nightmare has started again.
After her short trip from her and Rena’s shared apartment, Jurina had been staying in a hotel just outside Nagoya. She needed to lay low for a while and she’s also waiting for Mariko to come and help her after the older woman finished her job.
Jurina glanced at the clock again. 4:25 A.M. She sighed and decided to get out of the bed to do some exercise. The exercise consisted of some push up, sit up, and shadow boxing. After that, she took a cold shower then watched the news to pass time.

Jurina was watching the TV when suddenly there was a knock on her door. She got up, slightly alarmed. She reached out to the gun that rested beside her and slowly made her way towards the door. Her hand gripped the gun tightly. She looked through the peephole and sighed with relief when she saw Mariko standing in front of the door.
“Hey…what…whoa!” Mariko lifted her hands when she saw Jurina opened the door with gun in her hand. Jurina quickly looked around the hallway, before she pulled Mariko inside the hotel room.
“Jurina, what happened? I came here as soon as possible”, asked Mariko worriedly.
“Someone’s after me. Three days ago, when Rena and I were on our way to our apartment, an SUV came out of nowhere and hit our car. Then suddenly there were three men jumped out from the SUV and tried to take me down.”
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know, but judging from their actions, they were not amateurs, but they were not professionals either.”
Silence engulfed both of them before Mariko decided to speak again.
“Is she okay? Rena?”
Jurina sighed heavily before sitting down on the edge of the bed. She rested her elbows on top of her knees and covered her face with her hands. “She is fine. Shocked, but fine.”
Jurina put her hand down and looked at Mariko, anger evident in her eyes. “I knew it. I shouldn’t have fall in love with her. I shouldn’t have approached her in the first place. Look what happened?! Look what I dragged her into?!” Her eyes started to get teary. “Thank God, she’s okay. If something happened to her because of me…”
Mariko watched the younger woman in front of her sadly. She didn’t say anything, she just walked and plopped herself down beside her student before pulling her into a tight hug while caressing her hair softly. The action seemed to have a soothing effect on the younger woman. They stayed in that position for several minutes before Jurina pulled out from the embrace.
“What should we do now?” asked Jurina.
“First, we have to find out who were those men who tried to attack you. If we know who they are, we can easily find out who they were working for”, said Mariko.
“Well, let’s get moving then.”

“Good morning,” greeted Jurina to the person that walked past her.
“Morning,” said the person while looking at Jurina strangely.
Jurina was on her way to Nagoya’s police station’s morgue. She was wearing a white lab coat on top of her navy blue scrubs and a spectacle. She casually greeted everyone that she met on her way to the morgue. Finally, she arrived at her destination. She pushed the door open and got inside the morgue. Someone’s already inside. She was greeted by a female doctor.
“Good morning”, said the doctor.
“Morning”, said Jurina calmly.
“I’m sorry, but who are you? I never saw you before,” asked the doctor while studying Jurina carefully.
“Ah, my name is Hirokawa Manami. I’m the new intern. This is my first day here. They didn’t tell you that you’ll get a new intern today?” asked Jurina, pretending to be confused.
“No, they didn’t. I guess they forgot. I’m Itano Tomomi, by the way.”
“Nice to meet you, Itano-san,” smiled Jurina warmly. “So, what do we have here?” asked Jurina, trying to change the topic.
“Male, 35 years old, hit and run…”
Dr. Itano explained to Jurina about the lifeless body which was lying on the autopsy table. Jurina pretended to listen to Dr. Itano’s explanation while her eyes wandering around the room. Her eyes then focused on a cabinet located in the corner of the room. Finally, Dr. Itano finished her explanation.
“So, what do you think?” asked Dr. Itano to the younger woman beside her.
“It was a horrible way to die”, said Jurina awkwardly.
“Well then, because this is your first day here, you can step back and watch while I perform the autopsy. Is that okay with you, Hirokawa-san?”
“Yes, of course.”
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door then the door opened. A male poked his head in and said, “Itano-san, Kawamura-san want to speak to you in his office.”
“Okay. I’ll be right there.” She then turned around and gave Jurina an apologetically look. “I’m sorry. I’ll be going out for a bit. Don’t worry, I’ll be right back.”
Jurina smiled at her reassuringly. “Yeah…don’t worry. I’ll be here. Take your time.”
Dr. Itano then walked out of the room. As soon as Dr. Itano stepped out of the room, Jurina took out a pair of gloves from her pocket and wore it. She immediately walked towards the cabinet at the corner of the room. She opened the cabinet and looked through the files that were stored inside the cabinet. Several minutes later, she finally found what she has been looking for. She opened the files and fished out a small camera from her lab coat pocket and started to take pictures of the files. After she finished taking pictures, she closed the files and put it back to its place carefully, before casually walked out from the morgue.

As soon as she stepped out from the police station, Jurina walked towards a black Audi that was parked near the police station. She then opened the door on the passenger side and got in.
“Well, took you long enough”, said Mariko who was sitting on the driver’s seat beside her, laptop on her lap. While Jurina went inside the morgue, Mariko hacked into the building’s security system and erased Jurina’s image from the security camera footage.
Jurina didn’t say anything. Mariko then drove them back to their hotel.

“Well, several cases of robberies and assaults. They were just common criminals”, said Mariko while throwing away the printed photos aside.
Jurina and Mariko were inside their hotel room, they were sitting on the floor while studying the files of Jurina’s attackers.
“Yeah…they were just small fry. But, I bet their employer knew something,” said Jurina while looking at Mariko. “What do you say, if we pay them a visit?” smirked Jurina.
