More fun with the girls! This time on the beach.

Day Trip
“It was…it was Geki-chan’s fault!” wailed Torigoya from somewhere behind Yūko.
“Why don’t you come over here and have a look at what’s going on in MY head, princess?” bristled Gekikara from somewhere by the piano-shaped hole in the wall.
“Oh shut up, the both of you,” said Yūko in a tired voice from somewhere in between them.
“You could have nailed us with that piano!” chorused Shibuya and Black from somewhere behind the couch, where they had dove for cover.
Sado said nothing. She stared at her kendama, at the end of string that had suddenly been attached to nothing. She peered down into the schoolyard but couldn’t see the ball. She wondered if it was under the piano.
“Well, pony up,” said Yūko.
They gathered together, casting forlorn glances at their club room’s new source of ventilation. There was a jingle of coins. They stared at their haul. There was a long moment of reflection.
“We could go shake down some first years,” suggested Shibuya finally.
“Wait…we were actually going to pay up?”
Silence. Then they all laughed.
“I’m…bored,” said a ghostly voice.
They jumped and spun round to see where it had come from. A new girl was lying on the couch, looking bored.
“Who the hell are you?!”
“I’m…Salt,” she replied in a bored voice.
They looked at each other and shrugged. They counted their money again.
“Got any money, Sugar?”
“Salt…” Salt corrected boredly. She opened one eye and stared at them. “…..yes.”
“Great!” said Yūko. “Let’s go to the beach.”
***
They boarded some bus that was headed for some beach. On the way, they sang Camptown Races almost non-stop (for some reason, that song was stuck in their heads). Except for Salt, who was sleeping in the back, and Gekikara, who was sat next to her, doodling on her face with a crayon.
When it was time to get off, they stalked off the bus, paying the driver with meaningful glances rather than actual money. Except Gekikara, who stopped and stared hard at the driver. He smiled weakly at her. She grinned back at him before gripping the fare collection box with both hands and, with a screech of tortured metal, tearing it loose. She dragged it noisily off the bus, leaving a trail of coins behind her. And she was whistling Camptown Races.
The driver gave his notice later that day.

And it was a beautiful sunny day. Naturally, since it was the same day. The beach was sandy. The sea was wet. There were people, in various states of undress.
“Ladies,” called an overly tanned local baseball hero-in-training as he strutted past them. When he reached his equally tanned buddies, he gestured back at them and said something. They guffawed, then formed a serious huddle.
“Well, here we are,” said Yūko.
“I want ice cream,” said Sado. She cast a glance at the smooth operator and his posse. “And maybe someone’s b*lls.”
“Ice cream!” shrieked Torigoya happily.
“I…….would like……..an ice cream……….too,” said Salt.
Shibuya stared at her.
“Are you constipated, Sugar?” she enquired.
Salt gave her a look of bored annoyance.
“…………….no.”
“Jellyfish,” said Gekikara. They watched her as she strode off.
“Well,” said Black. “I’ll get the ice creams.”
Black vanished with a whoosh. They felt their ears pop slightly. A moment later, she reappeared, holding six empty cones. She stared at them. They stared at her. She looked back down the beach at the little ice cream stand. The vendor was staring at the six scoops of ice cream that sat forlornly on his counter. She looked back at her companions.
“Maybe I should…take things a little slower,” she said finally.
She vanished again. They looked at each other.
“海!” they yelled in joyous unison.
It was time to act out Generic Anime 101: The Beach Episode.
They kicked off their shoes and charged towards the glittering blue sea, scattering sunbathers and small children in their wake, while Labrador Retriever played in the background somewhere. They splashed each other, boobs bouncing in slow motion, hair flowing like a shampoo commercial, laughing gaily. Someone would say "Whee!" and the others would take up the call.
After about five minutes, they had had enough.
They headed back to dry off. Salt passed them going in the opposite direction. She walked very carefully and properly. When she reached the tide, she carefully and properly removed her shoes. She dipped one toe into the water. Another toe. She stepped fully into the water.
“……..whee?” she said. Then, after a moment’s consideration, “I’m bored.”
***
Later, they sat together on the sand, watching the lapping waves while eating takoyaki. Except Gekikara, who hadn’t returned yet.
“Well.”
“That was fun.”
“Yeah!”
They looked as one to Salt.
“…………yeah.” They waited. “I……….had a good time……………I think.”
She may have given them a small smile at that point. Or it could just have been a trick of the light.
“Hey ladies!”
They turned. The smooth operator was back.
“I was wondering –”
“F**k off,” said Sado. She’d bought a new kendama and was idly playing with it.
“Hey hey! Don’t be so cold, babe! I was just thinking, maybe we could get together and have a real party at –”
“Hey.”
They were looking at someone behind him. He turned and found himself face to face with Gekikara.
“Hey pretty lady!”
She reached down, grabbed a handful of his trunks and pulled them open. He grinned at her. She smiled sweetly back.
“Hey…”
She dropped the jellyfish she had been holding behind her back into his trunks.
“Are you mad?”
It had been a good day.
