Having been to Makuhari Messe for Tokyo Game Show twice, it's not just about getting to the area because then you have to climb up to the big overpass to cross the street to get there. It's kind of like going to Yokohama Arena but more complicated and longer. Looking at the map, it might be better to stay on until Makuhari if you take the Sobu?

I recall there was a VIP area for one of the other stages that were enclosed but the problem was that once the general area got crowded, going in and out from there was extremely inconvenient because there was only one entrance/exit at the back of the area. Hopefully, they have one set area for goods and handshakes/chekis. I never bother for @JAM EXPO since everyone is on a different floor at the same time as a group I want to see.

From what I remember, there was a stage there for a different event last year. Hopefully, there's some shade or something to keep people from melting out there. For Enjoy Stadium, I wonder if they got rid of it because it was a lot of trouble trying to control that many people? Either way, getting in and out of either of those places was BS. One door for each stage in rooms that could hold maybe 5-600 people in them. If there were separate exits, things wouldn't be so bad.

Checking to see how much a hotel will cost for both events just in case.

It's far from certain in my case. Me and a friend are contemplating going to one of the two Babymetal Tokyo Dome gigs. What made it more tempting was @JAM expo being the following weekend. It'll depend if we can get tickets to BM, for a reasonable price, and also the @JAM lineup, which is very preliminary. I don't know how these things work, like if they keep adding groups to the lineup until the last minute. Hopefully we'll have a solid list soon.

For me it is the Hacchake Tai One Man the weekend before that intrigues me.  But one of my favourite idols has some health issues and so I maybe have to save my vacations days and money for a later date (graduation live in the worst case etc.)

But regarding the line-up: New additions should be announced every other week, similar to TIF, with the whole line-up being clear maybe one month before (end of August)? :?

Oh wow, didn't know that. I guess I'll be arriving a few days earlier if I decide to go.

There's a bunch of public holidays either side of the BM TD shows, so chances are lots of idol events on :)

You should see here about the timeframes for the sales of the different types of Babymetal ticket: http://www.babymetal.jp/news/detail.php?id=418

I've been trying to buy a TIF ticket from Rakuten and my credit card is being declined which I'm not that surprised by since they aren't asking for a CVV number which is basically required these days, also they don't ask for proof of address like they did last year, I wonder if they sell ANY tickets this way (yes I'm using the foreign ticket form).

And trying to get in touch with them is too complicated you have to fill out a form meant for Japanese people.

Yeah but I think that's only one-day tickets, but I actually wrote to them and they said I didn't need to buy a ticket so I might get one from them.

For TGU you were required to become a member though.
I don't know anyone who had bought tickets for TIF over Rakuten yet. Sorry.

Ok the guy I hung out with last year at TIF said he got his 3-day ticket from TGU, so I guess I'll get one in the next round as well (and save some money as well).

Got it :)

^ so I got my TIF voucher from TGU

Booked flight and decided on a hotel this time since I couldn't find a cheap Airbnb - the location of the hotel is pretty good for getting around since Hamamatsucho Station is close on top of that it's also close to Hinode station so I can get to TIF really fast.

That one is nice. Stayed there 2 times, for my first TIF as well. Just use south(?)exit and follow the roofed walkway. Lawson and places to eat are just opposite of it. Hinode is best for going to Odaiba.

oh I see I made the right choice not going to TIF this year. they got rid of two stages to pick a new one... that is a lot further away. never change, TIF. never change...

Idol-Nation?

The amount of stages at TIF only matter if the prolongation to 3 days doesn't affect the tight performance schedules.

idol-nation: SKE and Takoniji are on avex...Upga is still on T-Palette right? For a second, I thought it was some weird way of announcing that they finally went major.

Probably best that they don't go to avex unless they can arrange to keep releasing as much video on YouTube as they do on their own channel. avex seems to have that BS "(short version) only" policy and they upload EVERYTHING to their one channel so it's impossible to find anything.

TIF: Hopefully, they relax the schedule a bit. With an extra day, there's no need to rush everything but, I wouldn't be surprised if they went and did something that made it even worse.

No idea why I'm posting this now, but, for me, this kind of event like ロックの日 yesterday, has a far more appealing line-up than some of these big events.

I think, the thing is, realistically, no matter how large the event is, in a day, you can only see so many groups, particularly if you want to participate in buppan for those groups, so if the bunch of groups who you follow all appear in one event, then that event is "perfect" for you. I find this often whenever I discuss events with different people. Eg/ I re-checked the line-up of TIF, and was like "oh yeah, this is actually a damn good collection of idol groups". But then was thinking of how many of the groups I actually follow etc are there, and pretty much none of them are... which then makes the event less "awesome!" and more "I'll just check out a bunch of groups who could be good, but I don't really know, but I'd rather see my favourite group(s) if they are performing". Which, I guess, is the point I'm trying to get across here. Which is, that most idol fans I've known, they pretty much just want to go to see their group which they follow, and don't really give too much of a shit about checking other groups. So what does this all mean when discussing different festivals?
