What I don't get is why a team named the Chunichi Dragons has a koala for a mascot?

That's pretty common question since the answer is not at all obvious.

The story goes something like this:
In 1984, the Nagoya zoo was the first zoo in Japan to receive koalas. When the local team, the Chunichi Dragons added a new mascot in 1994, they commemorated the 10-year anniversary of the koalas' arrival with "Doara", which is just "koala" with the "do" from the team name.

Anywhoo, the much anticipated Konkon & Mako-chan Fanclub Bus Tour took place this past weekend. Here's a summary based on what I could piece together from blog and twitter reports :

The day of days has arrived!!

Everyone receives a custom handwritten itinerary for the tour :

Must get to the buses on time :

When they stopped for gas, two crazy gaijin tried to hijack the bus. Security dealt with them severely.

Konkon and Mako slept through all the excitement and bloodshed :

The bus ride was long. When people got hungry, they snacked on the food of the gods :
Konkon & Mako Chips!!

and washed it down with the official brew of Afternoon Musume :

Finally, they arrive at the beautiful seaside hotel :

and have a big dinner :

Followed by a live show by the girls. One of the songs they sung was Love Namida Iro, which was 5th Gen's audition song :

The day ends with a campfire sing-along with the girls :

Day 2 begins with a pleasant wake-up call :

and a big western style buffet breakfast :

All the calories are necessary for the big day ahead of them, which starts with a long march into the wilderness where wild potatoes roam in their natural habitat :

Here the fanclub is greeted by the Autumn princesses, who tell them that they're here to play the most dangerous game.
Each one of them will have the rare opportunity of stalking, trapping, and killing a live potato.

Let the hunt begin!!!

Hundreds of poor potatoes lose their lives in the killing fields this day :

After a potato carving contest and the telling of heroic tales about the 'potato that got away', it's time for lunch :

Then the moment the wota have been waiting for, the moneyshot with the two girls :

And sadly...
"Time to say goodbye"

Motherf*****!!! We moved only 20 km in the past 100 minutes.

So is she going in after she graduates or did she drop out or extend or what?

April is graduation season, and it will have been 4 years since she started school. Besides, she wouldn't drop out since a college education is usually part of the job description for an announcer.

This might be a stupid question, but how come she won't be with M-Line? ^^; Or will she still be with them, but not participate in any activities...?

Because, as of April, she will be an employee of TV Tokyo. Up-Front might still represent her as an agency, but she is joining another company and moving on to a different line of work. Already, during these past few years, she has maintained a conservative profile, so as not to clash with the image of her future job.

I'm guessing there will probably be a final Ongaku Gatas tour early next year and maybe some Gatas matches, and then she'll bid farewell to the idol world.

This goes out to Konkon, I am always a true fans of hers and hopefully she has a good career in news reporting and bring out Ojamarushe one day when she gets her chance at being an anchor. She is true trooper and her determination to stay in school and finishing up her degree is wonderful, and with that I hope she does frickin well and hit that home run that everyone expects for her to do.
