I just watched the game demo for Assassin's Creed and the gameplay looks amazing!! The battles looked really smooth and the chasing/hiding elements looked really fun.  This will probably be a must-buy for me.

Do the new R2 and L2 buttons work out good? They felt kinda strange. I'm sad that the Duel Shock is gone, the controllers are so light.. but at least they're not the croissant shaped ones they showed in earlier versions.

I got a PS3 too and bought games that were ported to the ps3 (ghost reacon and fight night 3 >.<). I was sad to find out that Katamari is going to the Xbox360 ToT. Hopefully they'll have a ps3 version...

the r2 and l2 felt weird for me. and yea its kinda light as well. i was pissed off when they took out the rumble though. they shouldve at least put the battery pack in there. but i heard that if ur controller runs out of battery you have to send it back to sony -.-

Yeah the L2 R2 felt weird to me at first but i got used to it after a while.

I heard the reason why Sony took out the rumble out of the SIXAXIS controller was bcuz the company that makes the rumble had a lawsuit filed against Sony back before PS3 launched. Not quite sure what it was about but I know that everything it settled now so we might be seeing a rumble SIXAXIS in the future.

Getting one this Holiday Season, along with a 360.

The game line-up is slightly looking up...which is why I'm willing to take a step into buying it.

Heavenly Sword (hueg hype and it looks great)

Ratchet and Clank (always liked these games)

Lair (hopefully they release a patch that adds analog control, lot of people gave it shitty reviews because it used 6-axis movement, ie the people reviewing sucked at controlling so there was a hueg learning curve)

Stranglehold (might get this on the 360, but the ps3 version has the original Hard Boiled flick)

Assasin's Creed (might get it on the 360 as well)

Warhawk (looks like great arcadey fun)

the FUTURE:

Resident Evil 5
Devil May Cry 4
Metal Gear Solid 4
Final Fantasy 13/Versus/Whatever the other one is
Killzone 2 (not too excited for this, first one sucked and failed under the hype, which looks to be the case with this one, destroyed by hype)

Hmm...what else is good thats coming out? Any exclusives?

^ I dunno if Lair is getting bad reviews just because of movement controls. I've seen GT's video review and there's framerate issues, the lock on system doesn't choose the enemy you want and even if it does it can switch unexpectantly, repetitive mission objectives, no real sense of direction. Seems like it failed to live up to hype.

Well for the future, off hand I know there's Haze, Gran Turismo HD, Uncharted : Drake's Fortune and I think Star Wars : Force Unleashed is an exclusive. I didn't know Stranglehold had the full Hard-Boiled with it as well :o

^I've seen people who say there's no problem with the lock-on issues, being it a matter of the reviewer sucking ass.  If it can be overcome with hours of practice, it really isn't an issue, imo.  But indeed's it has failed to live up to the hype.  More work put into production values than gameplay.  But the other shit, like the cutscenes popping up every few minutes, thats really nothing new to any of Factor 5 games and its just a bitchfest of people taking it as a surprise.

So far the only real issues are framerate and restrictions on levels.  Can't go everywhere you want to without risking failing the mission and invisible walls keep you from going further.

And a lot of it could potentially be all fixed with a patch in this digital age with consoles having hueg hard drives.  Giving analog support and adjusting frame-rate issues could easily be ammended with patches.  But it was the Factor 5's fault for putting out an unpolished game.  They said they had a production cycle curse where a lot of stuff went wrong.  Power outages when they make big break throughs or hard drive failures and other unfortunate junk.

Oh yeah...Star Wars: Forced Unleashed looked epic.  The premise is dumb (Darth Vader's apprentice who's the strongest jedi? wtf?) but the new game engine and its game play look awesome.

Gran Turismo HD...last I heard...they were doing that 'buy the cars' you like deal and if you wanted all the cars it'd cost a fortune in real life?

Stranglehold for the ps3 has a special edition that has a Blu-Ray of Hard-Boiled...region free too, after so many complaints lol

Funny enough, as I typed my last post, I looked at Penny Arcade's newest comic and it would appear that they have released a patch, and now it controls like a dream (if the comic's anything to go by. Pulling off 'Some Blue Angels shit' must be a good thing ) I know how it can be with some reviewers. I remember Gamespot giving DMC3 a fairly low score because it was too difficult. Having completed it, I say you would manage just fine if you knew the game mechanics and levelled up some. Everyone who's played it can agree that the hardest part is the beginning when you start off fresh. But then I remember GS giving the Special Edition (which had toned down the difficulty) another low score because now it was too easy! No pleasing some people.

Never really cared so much for Star Wars games trying to establish themselves as part of the existing Star Wars universe made popular by the movies (KOTOR was easily the best out of any SW game if only for that reason IMO) But who cares? Taking down a Star Destroyer with the Force sounds good to me!

Oh yeah that's right, you have to pay actual money for the cars! XD Whoever thought of that idea should be fired. Whoever is going to buy every car should be shot XD

Oh yeah, some reviewers are totally full of themselves at times...The gamespot reviewer reviewed Stranglehold and gave it a 7.0...which is ridiculous...he gave Call of Duty 3, an 8.8...thats the worst Call of Duty game ever made, and thats the best score he's given.

If a gameplay experience frustrates the reviewer, 8 times out of 10 they suck at playing the game.

KOTOR FTW! I'm getting a 360 just for Mass Effect.

So I just spend a couple hours playing my friends' PS3, overal I loved it!!

Short review of some games I played:

Heaveny Sword: Looks great, handles good, nice cutscenes. However,it is repetitive and very short.
Motorstorm: Very fun, pretty hard.. similar to Burnout, but offroad. Good graphics, nice variety of driving machines.
Strangehold: Fun, repetitive.. some small hugs here and there, like the screen stalls for a split second when you shoot a cage and a bird flies out. Watermelons everywhere.. It's ok, but I think I'd get bored with it pretty soon.
The Darkness: AWESOME.

^Heavenly Sword isn't even out yet, nor is Stranglehold for the ps3...I'm guessing you mean demos?  Because Heavenly Sword's estimated runtime is 12-15 hours on first play through.

I heard good things about the Darkness, but apparently it already feels/looks 2 years old when compared to other shooters available or that are gonna be available.

Ow yeah right, sorry, some were demos.

The Darkness looks good imo.. I'm sure there'll be better looking shooters in the future. The handling is ok, feels kinda slow at first, takes some getting used to. It's the overall vibe of it that makes it great.

Never played The Darkness but from what I see it's not so much the gameplay that gets the appraisal, but rather the narrative. Expertly paced, immersive environment, it's a game that sucks you into their world and doesn't let go which isn't what you can say of most shooters. I did play the developers previous game, The Chronicles Of Riddick : Escape From Butcher Bay, and did think it was amazing in every aspect (easily the best movie-to-game tie in evar), so I can see how Starbreeze managed to succeed yet again.

As long as you can still win cars I see no big problem with it. It's not like I buy more than 5 or 6 cars. Now if upgrades cost real money, I will not be getting the game  But it is Gran Turismo...

Final Fantasy 13/Versus/Whatever the other one is

The other one is a mobile phone game and won't be on the ps3. Unless they announced one I'm unaware of...
