Monthly review time!

The Tourist: Highly predictable, mildly entertaining every now and then.

Taken 2: The first Taken was much better on all aspects. Don't bother with this one.

Looper: Started out pretty cool and an interesting premise. However, halfway through the movie it just gets stupid. Any sci-fi movie has some plot holes, but this one has way too many.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: Better than expected. It manages to capture a similar vibe as LOTR, but the scale and overall plot lines are much less elaborate. This is fine though, it was pretty enjoyable. Not a big fan of the dwarfs, but they got less annoying once they were on the road.

Frankenweenie: Nowhere near as good as the Nightmare before Christmas or Corpse Bride. The characters are all very flat. I will give it props for character design. To me, this movie is not a comedy. I read reviews of families going to see this movie with the kids ending up crying and having nightmares for weeks. I can see why, because some of the scenes in this as creepy as hell. So yeah, worth checking out if you like creepy characters, but don't expect a new Burton masterpiece.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps: This got a lot of bad press, but I thought it was pretty good. It's message is more relevant than ever and Michael Douglas is still a great actor. Bonus points for a certain cameo appearance.

Eastern Promises: Viggo Mortensen's penis is in this. I don't get the high ratings. You feel zero sympathy for any of the characters and it's not particularity thrilling or exciting at any point.

I Think I Love My Wife: Several trademark Chris Rock jokes turned into a full movie. Might as well watch one of his old stand-up shows instead.

Just watched the trailer for "Fast and Furious 6", and it looks like a fun ride.
Like the other movies, its prolly better to just take it for what it is, since plots for the movies in this franchise are always hollow.

New Marvel news:

New Hulk movie planned for Phase 3, and it'll use the 2006 story "Planet Hulk" for the project.
Also, "Planet Hulk" will be used as a setup for Avengers 3, which will use the "World War Hulk" story arc.

Ew, oh my god, it's very rare for me to turn off a film because I just can't finish it ... I've been trying to look into Christoph Waltz's filmography, and I thought Carnage sounded pretty interesting. But then about 30 minutes in, Kate Winslet's character starts feeling ill, and soon after they spend a lot of time showing her just vomiting over everything. This is a comedy, but it's not the kind of comedy where vomiting is used as a silly little unrealistic gag for laughs, this was one of the most realistic film vomiting sessions I've ever had the misfortune of being exposed to. It just kasdhjkhdsafjk I tried skipping past it, but I just couldn't get the image out of my head, and I felt pretty nauseous myself for the rest of the evening! :(

I wish I could finish it, because I thought it was an interesting set-up and everything, but... no, I simply can't go back.

Anyone have any films they just haven't been able to finish?

Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, Zero Dark Thirty) will be Peter Quill/Star-Lord, and former WWE star Dave Bautista has signed on to be Drax The Destroyer in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'.

Never! I have never walked out of a movie theatre, though with this film I think I might have had to (thankfully I was watching at home). It wasn't because it was bad, far from it, I found the setup interesting. But I have emetophobia so that scene was just too much for me to handle.

Twist! M. Night Shyamalan Ghost-wrote "She's All That"
Author: Kristy Puchko   | published: 2013-06-12 10:03:22

After cinematic atrocities like The Village, The Happening, and The Last Airbender, writer-director M. Night Shyamalan became such a joke to the degree that his name on the trailer for Devil--for which he earned a story credit—got laughs from moviegoers across America. Little wonder then that Columbia Pictures carefully hid his writer and director credits on the marketing for the Will Smith/Jaden Smith vanity project vehicle After Earth. But doing press for the picture, the twist-obsessed filmmaker has revealed something truly shocking: he was the ghostwriter for popular 1999 teen-centered rom-com She's All That.

Speaking with Movies.com, Shyamalan spoke about his range, and then admitted that The Sixth Sense (which he wrote and directed) and Stuart Little (which he has a screenplay credit on) were not the only 1999 movies he worked on. After teasing he'd ghost-written a movie that year as well, he confesses:

Quote
"I ghost-wrote the movie She's All That. "
Cue the string section to score this stunning reveal! You mean to say that R. Lee Fleming Jr., the writer of the Kirsten Dunst/Sisqo rom-com Get Over It was not the film's sole scribe! Our world is forever rattled!
