Alright then..
here's ostooandell "Music"
http://www.mediafire.com/?zqooyzwnsrl

I hate to stab an up&coming band like this and post their album up but hopefully it'll increase their popularity and they'll somehow sell more albums (as if that'll happen).
Anyhow, they're a 3 piece band from Okinawa sans bass player.
The music is very simple. No tricky math or post-rock pretense. Just some fun, mellow garage power pop that exudes the laid-back feel the archipelago of Okinawa is well known for.
I'm a sucker for any indie band with a female guitarist/vocalist and MollyLo has the perfect balance of low maintenance chill coupled to random outbursts of wacky, hilarious nerdism.  Love the random, soft shouts/chants of "Let's Go!" "yay!" thrown arbitrarily throughout the album.
One of my new favorite bands.
Ayabie has the opportunity to see them next month opening for Stan at Daikan Unit. (lucky bastard. I'll be back in cold-ass Toronto by then)

Fu%k!!!
That NEST festival line-up looks killer! It should be a great live.  There is almost ALWAYS an awesome show on the day or day after i leave Japan.  It's weird that it's called NEST festival when it's playing at O-East . O-Nest is by far the best venue out of the O-East/West/Nest/Crest/Duo complex. group_inou is going to rock the f out of the crowd. I envy you.

I actually already had "Music" but yeah. . . . good stuff.

That nest lineup does look pretty good. I don't know anything about dosh but everyone else is great.

I've never been to O-east before, but I've always had the image that O-nest is the better venue out of the bunch. How is the stage compared to Nest? It's possible they're expecting a huge audience which can cause problems on Nest due to there being two floors.

Anyway, to start some discussion, I was reflecting over the year of releases we've had thus far and my list turned out longer than expected. I'm pretty sure these will make it to my final list, though:

sgt. - stylus fantasticus
LITE - Phantasia
miaou - all around us
旅団 - Terra Incognita
ALL OF THE WORLD - Finesse

Still around 3 months to go.

旅団 - Terra Incognita
ALL OF THE WORLD - Finesse

Who?

And my list might look something like this

Sawako - Bitter Sweet
Quinka, With a Yawn - Field Recordings
Nisennenmondai - Destination Tokyo

Then there's like a dozen other things that might fill out the rest. It's been a pretty good year for music so far.

henrytennis are a five-piece (now six) band from tokyo who call themselves, "The new wave of progressive rock." They don't really sound that much like what you normally think of when you think of "progressive rock." Instead, imagine something along the lines of toe, except with longer songs and a gentler, more open sound. (lots of glockenspiel, lots of vocals) From 2006 this is their first and so far only album. Credits to melonpan.
