(Band) GO!GO!7188 (DL Matsuri-Japan Bash Party 2007 p.1)
« Reply #120 on: March 19, 2007, 11:31:20 AM »
I'll post this before I forget things, in order of appearance.

Asakusa Jinta, bad ass. High energy and unique sound. They did a lot of audience participation, dancing, and tongue twisters, quite fun. The sax player is very cute, she waved and smiled a lot to the crowd, and yes, like the others, I stared at her legs. The bass dude's bass is just awesome. They were really, really good. tenkei picked up their cd, ask him for rips, lol.

The 50 Kaitenz, very funny. They had awesome hair and hella tight nuthuggers. They made weird faces and made the crowd laugh a lot. They played quite a number of songs. The crowd was kind of boring, though. There were a few people to my left who were really enjoying them, but the rest was just not moving much. My legs started hurting.

Oreskaband, wow really cute! They had a lot of energy and also did a lot of audience participation. They're from Osaka so they did a lesson on how to do the "nandeyanen~." "This is pen." "Nandeyanen~!" Stuff like that. They were trying to explain with their broken English and laughed at each other when they knew it didn't make sense. During one song, which I do not know the name of, they asked everyone to sit down and then jump when they said so. So they said jump and everyone went nuts, which was nice, because the crowd's energy picked up after that. Just perfect for the next band.

GO!GO!7188, what can I say? its fuckin GO!GO! Ah what a dream come true to see my favorite band play in front of me. I was on Akko's side, but was gradually moved to the middle because the crowd was going insane. Though it was good, Yumi went to the middle on the solo to Jet Ninjin. They did a new song which I didn't catch the name. It was pretty awesome though, sounded like the creepy GO!GO! with the choppy guitar lines and Yuu singing in such ways. During the song some random fool climbed on me and another guy to try to stage dive. But when he got on the stage he got all confused and just jumped back to where he was before. No one caught him. In the MC before the new song Yuu said, "Be careful... don't bite?/vibe?/fight?" But everyone was kind of confused. She meant to say don't push. The crowd calmed down after that, lol. Thank you Yumi, I was about to die. Bastards came out of nowhere and started pushing. They ended the set with Bungu and after that it was all over. I could only wish for a longer set.
After GO!GO!, tenkei and I left the crowd and bought merch. There were no more GO!GO! shirts at their table, so I was disappointed, but I did buy a cd for them so sign. Akko came out looking for their merch table, but I stopped her to get an autograph, then people just swarmed her. Few moments later Turkey came out and I stopped him for an autograph. After a while Yumi came out, but I could not approach her! So tenkei went first, lol. We gave her one of those clicky sharpies to sign with but I guess she wasn't used to them and accidentally marked her hand with it and actually lol'd. It was like the cutest thing.

Pistol Valve, sexy! Wasn't really close to them, but we were jammin to the music while at the merch tables. They took long to sound check because of the number of instruments. But after they started everyone seemed to enjoy them, even the people back at the merch table and bar. They also did a lot of audience participation. I went back to into the crowd because they want just my big Fo-Fo. It was one of the trumpet players' birthday so everyone sang her a happy birthday.

HY, last of the night. HY had many fans. They were actually perfect to close it out, good energy, and the crowd was great. On the last few songs a couple Pistol Valve girls were jumping around toward the back of the crowd enjoying the HY. I had to join them. And in a hilarious feat, the tuba player from Asakusa Jinta rushed to the stage all the way from their merch table at the back of the room. He actually made it to the front and I found that very funny. They did 3 of my favorites in a row, that was nice. They also got the encore.

Awesome awesome show. Everyone had their share of trying English, many admitted they sucked at it. All the bands were fuckin great.

Streak you should have went. There was this dude who sat there by the line asking for tickets, he made a sign and everything. These two girls finally sold/gave him two. That dude, was lucky as hell.
Pics and such tomorrow maybe, tenkei had the camera.

Edit: Some crappy vids. It's all sideways for some reason.. lol. http://boykun.vox.com/library/videos/

After reading boykun's post I really really wish I went... -___-

I wasn't even in the area at the time. I was coming home with my family from my little trip to the boonies of central CA... instead of cute girls and bands I saw cows and fruit groves... I was hoping we were going to leave in the morning but my sister was lagging and we didn't end up going home till late in the afternoon. We got home probably about the time the show was over... -___-

I knew I would've been able to get a ticket if I tried...

Nice haul though!!!

Hopefully next time!!! if there is a next time...

New single June 28th
『真夏のダンスホール/アイムラッキーガール/できもの』 (Manatsu no Dance Hall/I'm Lucky Girl/Dekimono)
2007.06.28 RELEASE
[初回限定盤(CD+DVD)]
BVCR-19088/9 \1,575(tax in.)
[通常盤(CD)]
BVCR-19087 \1,260(tax in.)

Triple a-side and DVD. Unprecedented release from GO!GO!. Definitely different coming from them. Heading more mainstream, perhaps? I'm Lucky Girl was the new song they did at Japan Nite in LA. Akko seems to be using more English, and going by how I'm Lucky Girl sounded, it looks like they're experimenting again. They switched from Toshiba EMI to BMG Japan. This will be their first release under BMG Japan. I don't know about the new label, but I liked Toshiba EMI. All their DVD releases are region free.

Single previews
http://www.bmgjapan.com/gogo7188/item.php?id=2225&item=7934

Manatsu no dance hall sounds quite promising. I already love I'm Lucky Girl from Japan Nite. Dekimono sounds like Yuu and Akko's solo stuff put together. And Yuu is playing an acoustic. I can only think of one other song where she did that. Interesting nonetheless. Seems like it's gonna be a pretty solid single.

PV is great. Reminds me of their older stuff. It's very nice and colorful.. and tropical. The song has the same theme too. I like the "oooh weee oooh" lol.

I see that people are talking about GO!GO!7188 coming back to New York, but I wasn't sure if anyone mentioned yet that they are also hitting up Chicago and Bethlehem, PA.  The Bethlehem concert is a big musicfest too, so it is free.

I'm going to the New York one myself and I really recommend it for anyone who didn't see them last time they were there.  The Knitting Factory is really small and you can really get close to the band.  I was in the very front last time and it was amazing.  Plus GO!GO!7188 hung out in the lobby afterward and I managed to talk to them a bit and get autographs (and Akko's bass pick!).  It's only 10 bucks for tickets now, so it's super reasonable too!
