Wow...  seems like it's still too early for the Kohaku lists to come out.

Or has the year gone by WAY too fast?!

I read about Imai Miki doing something with her husband, Hotei Tomoyasu.

And if there is a god, lightning will strike Toba Ichiro and Mikawa Kenichi before showtime.

What kinda bums me is that by having GAM in the lineup, it means that "Matsuura Aya" will NOT be represented (i.e. counted) in this year's Kohaku.

In H!P terms is boring, but in terms of other artists is alright. Why invite all those newcomers with a successful singers among girls? I think the list makes justice to old and new artists that deserve it. And the list is shorter than other years, isn't it? Perfect, less time to count, will have a better ratings, and people will actually watch it from beginning to end. It was eternal every other year... and HQ in trackers won't be too big!! haha~~

You guys shouldn't be getting to excited/disappointed about who's on and who's not, cause this show is just one of many that is on that day. And if a popular artist is absent, it's usually because they are doing another (probably better) show on another station.

One of the more interesting shows was on tonight, and was the Nippon Television's Best Artist 2006.
http://www.ntv.co.jp/best-artist/
It was interesting, because 130million votes were cast, and while there wasn't a winner as such, they showed what sex/age bracket voted the highest for each act, which I'm sure would surprise a lot of you.
Like Koda Kumi, a lot of people on the forums think her sexy/slutty image makes her popular for males, but just like I said somewhere ages ago (JPS I think), it was girls between 10~20 where most of her votes came from.

Yeah! Last year, I understand, but I haven't heard about them much this year. Oh well, maybe it is to make up for last year since they couldn't really "be there".

I love watching enka on Kouhaku, too. :D

You're probably right, except for the PRESTIGE that usually is associated with the fact of being invited to perform on the oldest running show on the japanese equivalent of the BBC, and a show that's been a tradition in Japan for over fifty years. :D

There's not a real lot of prestige as such, being on this show anymore, simply because the ratings for it has dropped dramatically over the years. And as for NHK itself, it's also taken a huge dive over the years with all the scandals it's been in, to the point where a lot of people refuse to pay the broadcasting fee. (it's the only 'free to air' station householders have to pay for....don't know why the hell I'm paying, cause I never watch).
NHK takes legal action against nonpayers.

Anyways, it's not the end of the world if an artist isn't on "this show", because the whole afternoon is full of music shows, and then of course there's actual real concerts on that night too.

the nakashima mika song is "hitoiro"
the BoA song is "Nanairo ~Brand New Beat~"
the DJ OZMA song is "age age every KNIGHT"
the TOKIO song is "sorafune"
the porno graffitti song is "Haneuma RIDER"

the line up for the men's side is pretty weak, imo. i mean, there's some i wanna see, but when i look at the women's side im more hyped for the performances
