Author's Note: Gomen nasai for taking forever again. :ONkneelbow: I had finals last week so I got zero writing time in.
“You kissed her?” Miki sounded disgusted, she even made a face. “And she kissed you back?”
“Will you just shut up already?” Maki told more than asked, running a hand through her hair. It had only been a week since the two kissed, but everyone in Hello! Project had heard about it. Of course the word spread quickly, it happened in an apartment full of teenage girls.
“You went in to kill her, but you came out with a couple hickeys. How pathetic can you get?” Miki laughed lightly, leaning back on her couch.
“Miki, you know very well I’ll make your life hell if you don’t quit.” Maki warned, her eyes like fire.
“I’ve been to hell, they kicked me out.” Miki said, waving her hand dismissively, but changed the subject, “So what are you going to do about it?”
“If she poses as a threat, I’ll act.” she said simply, not wanting to hurt Reina.
“Mmhmm, whatever.” Miki said with a bored tone, “Now get out, I have stuff to do.”
“Yeah, you and your foreign films…” Maki mumbled, leaving the room.
She was glad the halls were empty, for every girl that she had seen within the past week had asked her the same damn question. “Did you and Tanaka-chan really make out?” It was driving the girl nuts.
Maki sighed as she turned a corner. Her eyes were only closed for a second, but that was all that was needed to run into somebody.
Neither of the two were walking fast, so they didn’t fall. Maki blinked a couple times, realizing that the person she bumped into was the last person she wanted to see. A blush grew across her face.
“Umm…Hi.” Reina said with an awkward smile, her face turning red as well.
“Hi…” Maki replied, avoiding eye contact. “Umm…I should get going…”
“Yeah, me too…” Reina replied, but before they had a chance to actually leave, they heard a weird noise coming from down the hall.
“What the?” they both asked in unison, looking towards the direction the noise was coming from, it was getting louder.
“Ahh!!!” Eri yelled, who was zooming down the hall, roller blades her feet. “Help me!!!”
She slammed into the two girls, causing them to stumble back into a nearby closet.
“Ouch…” Eri mumbled, who fell on the floor next to the closet. She blinked a couple times, and then somehow managed to stand up. “I’ll help you guys --”
Before she could finish her sentence, she lost her balance, and fell against the door, shutting it.
“Sorry!” Eri said from outside the closet. Maki and Reina let out stressed sighs.
“Just let us out.” Reina mumbled, thankful it was dark otherwise she knew Maki could see her blush.
“Sure thing.” Eri said, and then she paused for a moment. “Uh oh…”
“What now?”
“…It’s locked.”
“Eri…” Reina and Maki groaned.
“How the hell are we supposed to get out now?” Reina asked.
“Don’t worry!” Eri said cheerfully, “I’ll go find the key!” With that said, she skated off.
“Why was she on roller blades anyway?” Maki asked after a painfully long silence, if she was going to be in a closet with Reina, they might as well talk.
“I have no clue.” Reina said, pulling out her cell phone for a small source of light. She shined it on Maki for a second before she used it to see around the closet. It wasn’t horribly small, actually it was a janitors closet. Reina grabbed two buckets, turning them upside down and sat down on one. She patted the other with her hand, “Have a seat, I have a feeling it’ll be a while before Eri comes back with the key.”
Maki nodded, and took the seat she was offered and smiled slightly.
…
“I’m sorry about the other day.” the two said in unison to the other.
“Erm…Yeah.” Reina said, blushing madly, “It’s okay…”
“Yeah…” Maki said, also blushing. “I’m glad you forgive me…”
“Me too…”
…
The silence was killing them both. A good fifteen minutes passed before Reina spoke up, she hated silences like that.
“So…How’ve you been?” she asked, looking in Maki’s direction.
“Pretty good I guess, how about yourself?”
“Pretty good.”
“Cool.”
“Yeah.”
As minutes passed by, the two finally managed to get a casual conversation going, the awkwardness slowly faded away yet Reina had something bugging her for a while.
“Umm…Goto Senpai?”
“You can call me by my first name.” Maki replied with a smile.
“Um, okay. Maki-san?” Reina blushed a bit, but returned the smile.
“Yeah?”
“What’s it like to be a vampire? Can you turn into a bat or anything? Does blood really taste that good?” You could tell that Reina was horribly interested in this, excitement was in her voice.
“If anyone would know, it’d be you.”
Reina gave a puzzled look, “Huh?” she asked.
“The story you write.” Maki explained, “I feel bad about it, but I read it behind your back. Anyway, everything you wrote in there, down to the last detail, is true.”
Reina’s eyes widened, “But…How?” she asked, confused still, “I thought I was making it all up.”
Maki scratched the back of her head, “I don’t know, Tanaka-chan.” she said with a shrug, “But you know things that nobody else does, besides Miki of course.”
“You can call me by my first name too, it’s only fair.” Reina laughed lightly, “But how does Fujimoto-san know?”
“Okay, Reina-chan. And well, she’s one too.”
“Fujimoto’s a vampire too!?” Reina almost jumped with excitement, “That’s so cool! Well, actually that’s kinda scary…I mean, that woman is just pure evil as it is. Now knowing she could suck my blood I’m not going to piss her off anymore.”
Maki laughed, “Yeah, she’s a whole vampire. And as you know, I’m half.”
“Yeah…How does that work?” Reina asked, “I never wrote out the details about your past, so I really don’t know myself.”
“Well, my mother is a vampire, and my father isn’t.” Maki explained simply, “The vampire gene is dominant, so that’s why I need blood to survive but I can do things like walk in the sun without getting hurt.”
“Then how does Fujimoto-san walk in the sun?”
“She uses this sun block stuff, super powerful so she’s perfectly fine in sunlight, totally illegal.”
Reina laughed, “Figures.” she said with a smile, “Umm, so then…I’ve never been able to figure out what to write for it…So I’ve been wondering…”
“Yeah? What is it?”
“What happened to your father?”
Maki looked down to the floor, “I’ve never told anyone.” she said softly, “Maybe…Sometime I’ll tell you when I’m ready.”
Reina simply nodded, “I understand.” she said, putting a hand on Maki’s back to comfort her slightly, “I’ll wait then.”
Maki looked up with a small smile, “Thank you.” she figured it’d be best to change the subject, “Oh, by the way. You’re an amazing writer.”
Reina felt herself blush once more, “Thanks, but about that…” she paused for a second, “Umm…It’s kinda a secret, would you mind not telling anyone about it? It’s kind of embarrassing for me when people find out that I write.”
Maki couldn’t help but to giggle slightly, but nodded. “Of course, as long as you keep the whole fact of me being a vampire a secret. There’s very few who know about Miki and me. Yocchan is one person that knows.”
Reina nodded, figuring that they told only those who were extremely close to them. Maki most likely told Yossie, after all, the two were really close at one point. And then Miki must of told Aya, those two were impossible to separate these days.
Before either of them had a chance to say more, the door suddenly opened, Eri in the door frame. “Sorry I took so long!” she said with a laugh, “It took me a while, but I managed to find the key.”
Reina rubbed her eyes at the sudden light that had entered the closet, “It’s okay…” she said, “How long did you take anyway? I lost track of time.”
“Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.” Maki said with a small laugh, standing up and then holding out a hand to help Reina up.
“About an hour.” Eri said, moving out of the way so they could get out.
“An hour? Wow.” Reina said, taking Maki’s hand and standing up. Neither of them seemed to let go.
“Seemed sorter than that.” Maki said with a shrug, “But thanks for letting us out, Kamei-chan.”
“No problem.” she said with a smile, “Now I must be off, people are waiting for me.” With that said, she ran off.
“So…You wanna hang out?”
