Terror Attacks In London...AGAIN!?
« on: July 07, 2005, 02:17:22 PM »
Just a day after London were announced hosts for the Olympics in 2012, this had to happen!

Yeah. Sad that it had to happen.

The targets. They seemed to miss the interchanges. Wonder why. And the casualty count is much lesser than what you would expect, with 5 bombs exploding.

WoW, not cool. London needs to step up their security. That really sucks for them, but they knew there would be terrorist attacks.

Yes, this is truly tragic.  As of right now, I've heard that 40 are confirmed dead with hundreds more wounded.  It is expected that the death toll will continue to rise for sure since they are still sifting through the wreckage.

yea... never expected this to happened after a long period of silence from those terrorist.. what's more interesting is "Al-Qaeda" stepped up and admit that they were the ones... (not suprising) wonder why they want to do that... i think they just can't stand those people who are trying to do good for others... Tony Blair has to fly all the way back to London....

Sometimes, i really wonder... is it really wrong that Bush bombed Iraq...

My condolences to all of those affected by the events that have occured today. It's scary to think how easily terrorists could attack through public transportation.

I didnt expect this to happen. Its horrible to think people died there.
Edit : right now, a news reporter is saying that about 50 people have died and they are still looking for more victims. Thats horrible.

Agh, man, this is shit. Have anyone think that maybe if Paris was selected as the Olympic city, maybe they'd be the attacked?

Still, if I could, I'd go and hit those fucking Alwhatever in tha face.

the most sick of all is how they attack innocent people that probably didn't agree with any of the Blair decisions. That's sick. It's sick and makes me feel I want to puke. It's not people who commute everyday by train's fault. Damn.

I though that was kinda obvious. USA won't do anything more than rise the terrorist menace if they keep bombing the people and not the enemy.

I'm really sorry for those who died there. Fucking terrorist... if it only was an attack to military or politic targets. But fucking inocents!? That's just sick...

No, You can't just bomb things. Planning a bombing and other preparations take more than a day. London was a good target for terrorists, because G8 meeting in Scotland already pulled attention to Britain.

Wouldn't surprise me.  News I heard said that some militant European Islamic group claimed responsibility for the attacks, apparently acting on behalf of Al-Quaeda.  :?  :?  :?

I KNOW!!! >_< I think what's been done is absolutely disgusting. And the people who're behind it should get their asses beaten.

Great news, though! Because of this, uBsh wants to spend even MORE non-existent money on EVEN MORE "security"!

Not to take anything away from the horrific events in London, but shit like that... FUCKS it up for EVERYONE. The victims, their families, the cunrty and other countries, too. Those people should get their karma... >_>

It was just surreal, sickening...there's no way it coulda been tied to the Olympics but they definitely wanted to give a statement to the G8 leaders. Gots to give props to the Londoners for the "business as usual" attitude as the British Open and Grand Prix will go on as scheduled.  :x

Indeed. Things could have gotten a lot worse (although the current situation is bad enough). The most horrific thing I heard about yesterday was hearing that this mother had dropped off her two children at the bus station to go to school, and when she heard of the news of the bus bomb, she was in a real panic because she didn't know if it was on the same bus with her two children on it.

As long as it's effective.

So basically at least as long as we're alive.

Modern guerilla/partisan warfare was developed by the Afrikaneers in the Boer War and perfected by the French and Chinese resistance in the Second World War. That along with the treatises of Trotsky, Lenin and Mao (not to mention the VC) as basically the operative plan for any group today that needs to defeat as larger and better equipped opponent.

They're are significant differences (the Viet Nam war was mostly won in a conventional manner by VC tank divisions, WW2 by British and American help and the Russian Revolution by mass army defections), but the operating principles are much the same.

A bigger difference though comes in the selection of targets. The current group of terrorists tends to select civilian targets. In this they are much more akin to the Anarchist movements of the early 20th century than the Bolsheviks or even the IRA, who had definable and achievable goals. This nihilism in the past hasn't been sustainable and eventually resulted in marginalization and a loss of popular support (though it still took 40 years for the old die-hards to eventually die off). Hopefully that will be the eventual result here.
