Slowly starting to pick away at this. I've long liked Gopnik, but somehow I've managed to stay away from his books until now. The introductory piece was a little too dreamy for me, but once you get past that and into the political essays, you're golden.

I forgot all about the 50 book challenge and I kept starting books or just reading anthologies. Now I'm gonna get one just one book: Hoodtown by Christa Faust.

In the middle of this one currently:

I've been intending on getting into Cormac McCarthy's stuff for at least four years, and I'm finally doing it now. It seems almost impossible for it to live up to all the hype, and yet it does.

At the moment I'm reading the novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I got it cheap in my local book shop and have to admit that I love it! It's very exciting although I already know the movie. I'm not sure yet if I will read another novel by him, but I will definitely keep this author in mind.

Books I've read for school this semester:
Alone with Others: An Existential Approach to Buddhism by Stephen Batchelor
Reading Like a Writer: A Guide for People Who Love Books and For Those Who Want to Write Them by Francine Prose
Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned by Wells Tower

Over Thanksgiving, I read The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch and I just got her book Real To Reel a few days ago~

Goal: to read Morris's whole TR trilogy.

And so it begins.

It's pretty much impossible to come away from the prologue without thinking "Fuck yes this is going to be awesome, what was I even thinking when I read biographies about other historical figures and/or written by people who aren't Edmund Morris".
