I heard about this radio appearance earlier today.
While there's some bits of truth in your summary, I think you're exaggerating quite a bit.

Koharu says she never wanted to be leader, and that she'd thought of Morning Musume as a stepping stone for entering showbiz.
Sayu is surprised at this because she says her own dream was to be in Morning Musume and that's enough for her.
Koharu thinks that has to be a lie.
Koharu does say she's happy having more female fans now as a model, but doesn't call the male fans "gross".
What she says instead is that it's tough for idols to have male fans flirting with them all the time.
But yes, she's glad she doesn't have to go back to the regimented group life, and Sayu doesn't think she could anyway.
Really though, this particular 2ch thread is more about Sayu's feelings and sounding like she would start crying.
I don't know if it's that bad, but it's true that Sayu sounded like she was going to be upset, if not for Sanma's following up.
For what it's worth, there was laughing throughout and Sanma and Shouji seem to agree that Koharu's feelings are pretty normal, as are Sayu's feelings.Later on, the "cockroach in winter" part is something everyone chuckles a little about.
Sanma is a comedian and calls everyone "idiot" and such.
What you have to keep in mind is that this show tends to be a little racier in content with more surprising stories than usual idol fare.
This is more or less how this particular radio show normally operates.So why does such an admission on this show have such explosive potential to change opinions?
We fans tend to hold our idols to high standards, but whether or not Koharu felt like this is of no real consequence anyway.
She's not an idol any more, and I think everyone other than her die-hard fans is happier for it.
This includes Koharu herself.My estimation of her has gone down a bit from what she's said, as I suspect many others' has as well, but it's not like I'm surprised about this revelation.
When she just joined, I constantly gave her the benefit of the doubt, even standing up for her a bit against her haters.
But looking back, hearing all these things that she says and that other members said, both in Morning Musume and in DMM, I've revised my image of her a bit.
At worst, I see her as a selfish girl who just got by on her looks.
At best, I see her as a heavily career-oriented girl who knows her strengths and how to use them.
The truth is somewhere in between the extremes, and if your current view of her has changed as well, it's probably changed more toward the side you were closest to in the first place.
The thing is, I can say my own opinions are from what I've heard her say and seen her do, rather than potentially inaccurate translations.
My hope is that more people try to be a little more skeptical of things they hear and try to go to the primary source for verification before believing something.
Sure it was kind of a heated section of the show, but if you listen to it, you'll probably think something very different than if you just read a possibly-exaggerated translation.
