I was looking at some Kusumi clips and man, what a talent.
Kusumi must have had an insane time during the past 6 years. She was a regular school girl, auditioned at age 12 and then became a super star. When the Kirarin Rebo stuff took off, Balalaika even outsold MM! Imagine all that happening to you in such a short period of time, at such a young age. Must have been crazy. Maybe it also related to why she graduated MM fairly soon.. like the highlight of her idol career already happened and it's hard to get psyched to give it your all in MM? I don't know.
She has this natural aura that makes her really lovable. She truly is a perfect idol. Crazy energy, funny, amazing expressions and poses. Just look at the Papancake PV. It's really bland, just a basic setting with her singing and dancing. Yet, she carries the entire thing by her big moves and big expressions.. it doesn't bore for even a second.
Her dyeing her hair must have been some way of breaking with this era. Time for a new Kusumi perhaps. I don't watch Oha-star, but I'm tempted to dl a few eps to see how she behaves. Still as the genki-idol or as a pro tv personality in character?
Anyway, just felt like writing this. She may not have the vocal abilities, but in my opinion Koharu ranks amongst the best of them.
