Translated summaries were posted on the AKB Klubhouse forum about their various reasons. I'm not surprised at all. AKB48 has a few years under its belt, and the less successful members will start heading out, as well as some of the more successful ones, probably. Idol business sucks sometimes.

If I bought 1, it would be more than the total amount of MM CDs I have..

I can kinda understand collecting different versions, or even 2 of the same (1 to open and play, and 1 to keep sealed), but not 12!!!
(I could probably buy 12 next week in Book-Off for 1260yen (105yen each))

You do know this is also about that she has to sell 10.000 copies in one month otherwise she has to leave AKB48?

I have no idea when it comes to AKB48 (or anything else on this forum that's not gravure), but just hearing that, I automatically think it's a sales gimmick.. Naturally hardcore fans are going to buy up in the hope of saving her, which is exactly what the company wants with this threat..

It sure is, and for one time I have no problem with that

To get a bit of the background I would say download a few of the latest AKB48 0jifun's and AKBINGO's from H!O (or visit Stage48/nihongogo and read the threads)

Meetan corner was one of the highlights in every ep. She's quite entertaining, I don't wanna see her leave. I just wonder what happens if she actually can't sell her 10k copies? Will she really go, or be forced to go? I'm afraid there's no turning back.

I'm sure somehow she will sell 10K copy. I mean at first no one knows who Morning Musume and they sold 50K for their debut single.
Right now Meetan has a fan base already from AKB48 so definitely she will sell those 10K CDs.

You can also watch AKB48 0jifun and AKBINGO on YouTube. Look for "akb1ji59hun's channel" and he/she has all episodes of the show online.

People knew Morning Musume from ASAYAN which was a pretty popular TV show back in the late 90s, also their indies debut was marketed pretty well with them touring the country.

Meetan should manage 10,000 in a month but I very much doubt she'll achieve that this week or the next for that matter, 10,000 copies in a week can often land in you at around #10 in Oricon. I bought a copy of the single but from YesAsia which doesn't count towards Oricon >_>;
