How is everybody?? This is Ishikawa Rika. I, Ishikawa Rika, on May 7, 2005, graduated from Morning Musume at the Budokan performance during Morning Musume’s spring 2005 tour: Dairoukan Hit Mankai. I’m really happy to receive such support from all of you during my 5 years as Morning Musume. Thank you very much. I cannot express [my feelings] in one word of the past 5 years in Morning Musume. When listening to this CD just between you and me, I want to you to look back at the Ishikawa Rika up until now. Please listen. (I changed what word she used here to make it more sense in English)
Ishikawa Rika’s Happy Charmy Diary
Ishikawa Rika: Born on Jan. 19, 1985 in Kanagawa prefecture, blood type A.
When I was a child, I was a very quiet, obedient girl. If I say (remembered) my childhood memories, it seems I was really a quiet, obedient girl. It seems like what ever I eat and sleep and whatever I put into my mouth and sleep kind of feeling, (I have no idea what she means) but if I am able to make a judgment (decision); I would go outside and play with friends and such; often when you are young, the moms would gather together and the children would gather together and play right? Even among them, when the kids are playing and the moms gossiping, without joining the other kids, I would often sit next to my mom. It’s not that I hate playing, but from long ago as I can remember quite well, it seems I liked to listen to adults’ conversations.
Now that I have turned twenty, recently, I watched the videos I wanted to see of my past and I think I haven’t really changed from past to now to the Ishikawa Rika now. Even from when I was little, I still have a disorderly (messy, wacky) camera appearance. My camera conduct from before was saying things like “Yay, yay!” and dancing and singing. I think I still haven’t changed from back then; seeing my younger self acting that age, but I really did love singing back then. I loved singing and dancing, but when I was in elementary school, I learned rhythmic sports gymnastics. I think that was when I really started learning “dance.” The dance that I’m doing now has a lot of different types, but I have danced using things like ribbons and batons; however, because nowadays, I still train doing minor rhythmic sports gymnastic type of things, my body is flexible (soft, tender) and continuing to do so has been really useful and I think over and over again that I’m really glad I did rhythmic sports gymnastic back then.
April 2000, from Morning Musume’s 3rd member audition, I was chosen as the 4th generation member. The same generation members with me are Yoshizawa Hitomi, Tsuji Nozomi, and Kago Ai. My first memorable song recording when I joined Morning Musume was “Happy Summer Wedding.” This was just the beginning of song recordings, dance lessons, T.V. recordings and such.
Well, to say the least, the addition of members to Morning Musume in Morning Musume’s 3rd audition was my first audition that I undertook. From Morning Musume first debut to watching them on T.V. all the time, the 3rd supplement audition was really the way to go. (she used some slang that I have never heard of, so please excuse me if interpreted the last part of this sentence wrong) I thought of entering this audition, but I never thought that I would actually pass!
It’s like a like child who takes that audition, they would of course have confidence to take that, but I didn’t have any confidence. When they said it was perfect, I thought that they were lying. My family also said to me, “It’s not, like, that you will pass, but go with a depressed (as if you will fail) feeling,” but when they announced that I passed, I was surprised! If I looked at my image at that time, I think understand, but I was really surprised and gave a gaping flabbergasted face. After that, seconds of every day began, and soon after, photographing of “Happy Summer Wedding” jacket began, then song recording, dance lessons, T.V. recordings, and concerts; it wasn’t that all of that was happening in a rhythmic pace, but I’m glad to say that if it wasn’t for there being 4 members of the same class: Yossi, Nono, Aibon, those three really saved me. Yossi is only one year different from me, but outside and inside, she is calmer than me; and Tsuji-chan and Kago-chan was, um, really kids, but really super cute younger sisters. In truth, we had fights almost to the point where it seem like we hated each other, but we really didn’t hate each other. I thought of how irritating they were many times, but even up to now the bond between us 4th generation members are important, I think; however, I think that the senior members were thinking that a bunch of kids have joined. But, instead, the welcomed us warmly, and because Gottsuan age was close to us, we were able to chat lightheartedly, and since Yasuda-san was in charged with my training and knew a lot of things of the past, it was really tough (horrible, bad) days, but, now, I think I was able to have lots of fun.
Ishikawa Rika’s top 3 important news
Yes… from now, I want to tell you about my best 3 big news during my time in Morning Musume. At the time I joined Morning Musume in April of 2000, I was 15 years old and keep running until 2005 where I turned 20.
Up until now, I have done lots of different things. When I was 15, 16 years old, I imagined various things of what kind of young lady I wanted to be at 20. If I look at me at 20 now, I have some parts that haven’t changed at all since then and, on the inside, I think that I have become an adult a little. With my thinking (ideal) at that time, I think I wanted to be a cold (cool?) adult person, but it still a little far off. I feel that it will still take another 5 years, but, now, I will finally announce (the top 3 news).
Number 3: The birth of Charmy Ishikawa in Hello Morning
From joining Morning Musume, about characters, it was absolutely necessary for everybody to have their best character. First, Tsuji and Kago already had strong (dense) characters and was frist to go “pon!” and have their characters to come out. Next, it was a little tomboyish character Yossi to come out. Lastly, to be honest, I was left behind. There was a period where I thought negatively on what to do at this time, but with the help of the loving senior members, they helped push out the old Ishikawa and the birth of Charmy Ishikawa happened. After that, the Ishikawa Rika now went really fast. It’s like there is a good place that exists within my own feelings or a character, but of course, in the original Ishikawa Rika, there was Ishikawa Rika, but really, as only one Ishikawa Rika character, the best character residing in me is Charmy Ishikawa. This allowed me to be really positive. [Charmy Ishikawa] is really a bright character, allowed me to have lots of involvement (relationships) with everybody, and this really fits as Ishikawa Rika’s best 3 big news.
And continuing with number 2: “Units”
I think everybody knows about this, but during this 5 year period in Morning Musume, I participated in a lot of units. My first one was Tanpopo, but after that there is Country Musume and Ishikawa Rika, Romans, shuffle units, and of course, Viyuden. If you really add it up, I have done lots of unit activities, but, really, these unit activities presented me with lots of good influence in Morning Musume. And the opposite, when doing unit activities has allowed me to preserve the Ishikawa Rika in Morning Musume. I love all of the units separately, but I really can replace (with eachother?) them in my heart, like the Morning Musume Ishikawa Rika and the Tanpopo Ishikawa Rika. I have thought that if I have done nearly 10 units, wouldn’t that be hard to replace (with eachother)?, but it wasn’t replacing them, but I was able to be natural and be able to have lots of fun. That’s why doing all these unit activities in 5 years, I think, for me, has let me grow a lot.
And number 1: “The Peace!”
This song is, how should I say… There are a lot of Morning Musume songs that I love and can not choose from, but in all the songs that I like the song with the most sensible memories for me is “The Peace!” I have deep (strong) memories for this song and the song is quite deep. Morning Musume is a wonderful, beautiful group and when I heard that a person called Ishikawa Rika in the group was going to be the center of the song, I thought it was a dream. I was only worrying about if I was going to be all right, but when I told Tsunku-san about my worries, he replied, “Everybody thinks that Rika will be fine in that position, so have some confidence” and almost recklessly I really did my best and almost recklessly, with all my might, did something new; at that time, I frantically thought that I had to be able to do it. And the monologue is really nostalgic.
Well, everyday, at first, was heart pounding; now, after so many years, I have calmed down when saying the monologue, but, at first, I would do it, while wondering if it’s all right, if it’s all right; however, I never made a mistake doing the monologue at all. Somehow inside of me, I thought I would for sure make a mistake, but rarely, in concerts and such, the lyrics would be everywhere and that has happened to all members during lives; however, “The Peace” monologue has never been involved in that. Among the 5 years that Ishikawa Rika has walked, I think it is appropriate for this song to be number one in important news.
Closing
It’s been a short time, but thank you for sticking with my talk. Well, if we have been looking back again and again of the past events from my debut, I have changed a lot over these past 5 years. I think have to thank to thank everybody for that, but I really have to thank those who are the closest to me that have always been supporting me: my family and the members.
And I have really grown up a lot in these past 5 years thanks to all the staff and the fans whom have always been supporting me. I can say that I have self confidence. I think my way of thinking, from negative to positive, experiencing a lot of different things, failing at various things, learning lots of different fun things; all of this have enable me to be who I am now.
As everybody knows, from May 8th, I have started doing events as Viyuden. Together with me, Miyoshi Erika, at first, I thought she was very boyish and very level-headed, but really, she’s a little scatter brain and has a childish side. If I have a part of me that is adult-like, I have a part that is immature, but since Miyo-chan is the same age,she will be a good rival and I think if we mutually support each other it will good. And Okada Yui. When I first met Okada-chan, she wouldn’t talk and just smile, but when asked a question she would only reply, “Yes,” but since she’s an Osakan child, if she starts talking, she can’t be stopped. Anyways, she’s bright. That’s why, the atmosphere given off from Viyuden is very balanced and I think there is a lot to look forward to, but I said I’ll be a nonchalant leader in Viyuden; however, from now on, I want not to be nonchalant, but I want to have more self-confidence and work harder to be able to say, “I am the magnificent leader of Viyuden, Ishikawa Rika.” From now on, I want a lot more people to know Viyuden and to go to lot of places in Viyuden.
I want to have more places where I can meet everybody, do lots of different things at concerts, and to work harder and polish Viyuden more.
I was able to pass the activities I have done as Morning Musume member these 5 years with the warm support from all of you. Please continue to support me and Viyuden. In order to give you happiness, I leave with these last parting words. Here I go, ready? “Happy~!” This was Ishikawa Rika. Bai bai! The end!
